We were greeted by their friendly Golden Retriever as soon as we stepped out of our cars. She was so cute and would put her head on our laps too. Bastian's has a small tasting patio and a gazebo with a large table for 10. The owners were very nice and the winemaker did the pours himself for our tastings. We learned about how they make their wines, where they come from, and more about their vineyard. We really like their GSM. The prices on their bottles were good too. $36 for reds and $30 for whites. Our group really enjoyed our Sunday afternoon here. The property was beautiful even in winter. I bet it's fabulous in spring when there are leaves and grapes on the vines.

Current wine list. Bottling whites in a month.

Small quiet Winery off Highland valley Road, but worth the detour if you are a red wine lover. 2016 Malbec is outstanding and worth the drive and price.

Had a great afternoon enjoying the stunning views at this winery. We arrived around 4pm on a…read moreSaturday and the main tables were completely full (aka the ones with food service) so we grabbed glasses of wine and walked up the path to the hilltop to enjoy the views and the wine. This is a beautiful venue with a main area with food and drinks and then several offshoot areas with tables for you to seat yourselves. The owner was present and let us know why it's named Speckle Rock (the soil composition) and was lovely to speak with. Will definitely be back on a quieter day to get a table and enjoy some food with the spectacular views and crisp wine!

Hidden in…read morethe hills of Escondido along with other wineries in the area this place was a great reward and an opportunity to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The entrance is really pretty with a gorgeous pond/mini lake at the entrance. We parked and made our way up to the winery. When we entered the tasting room, we were greeted and provided with a lot of information about the wines they produce. We decided to try one of their newer wines called Falanghina. A very light and refreshing wine with notes of apple, lime, pineapple, and we really enjoyed this bottle. While you are drinking your wine the views are absolutely epic of the whole valley below. The surrounding hills were covered in green since it was spring and it was very relaxing and peaceful there. I look forward to returning here again in the future to try more of their wines.

I got here at 7:15 pm with the intention of leaving at 8:00 pm as I understand that's their closing time. Server told us they closed at 8pm, but patrons could stay up to 8:30pm. She stated she doesn't understand why "sunset is advertised online" when they are closed during summer sunset time. She seemed a bit annoyed at us, which I understood as closing time was happening soon. We left before other patrons did, prior to 8:30pm. I had no issue with that, my issue was with the way she spoke to my partner. As we were closing out she said we could not get a new glass, but could get topped off. My boyfriend asked if she could top off his glass, and she said something along the lines of "look at you using a new vocab word, you were paying attention to what I said". I'm not one who gets offended easily, but that comment came across as patronizing to me. Perhaps that wasn't her intention, but it was how it was perceived. Such a shame. I'd love to continue coming back, I just hope future interactions are more welcoming.

The ambiance is beautiful, the property is gorgeous, and we really appreciate all the free events they offer. The food truck is always a solid choice with pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and even gluten-free options. If you're just looking for a snack, they also have items available inside. The wine selection is excellent, and one of our favorite things is that it's dog-friendly, so our pups can join us. My only suggestion would be to improve the wine line. It can take 10-15 minutes to get a refill, especially during trivia, which sometimes means missing the next question. It would be awesome if there were a separate line for guests who just want to order a glass of wine instead of doing a tasting. Overall, Orfila is a beautiful winery with a fun, welcoming atmosphere, great wine, and events that keep us coming back week after week. Highly recommend!

One thing we love was their live music on Friday nights, but they have changed up their event calendars discontinuing music on Friday nights and only have it on Sundays. They added other things like trivia and line dancing during the week, which may be popular, but for us live music is what drew us there. I hope they bring it back.
