My son has been a part of the LMAA family for the past eight years. He worked his way up from the white belt and completed the black belt program in 2023, the day he turned 18. My child just finished a month trial, and we have just officially signed up for a whole year. I'm excited to join this community for my child to grow in character and to strengthen his body. We hope to stay for years to come! The customer service has been excellent from the start. There is always someone to answer all of my questions in detail (text, email, phone), which made it easy and seamless for me as a busy mom. Also if we need to make up a class, we can easily make it up the following week. They are flexible, which is definitely something I need. Inside, there is a small waiting area with comfortable, cushioned benches for caregivers and siblings to watch the class. Strongly recommend LMAA for so many reasons. My 7 year old son has been attending this dojo for close to a year. In this time frame, I've seen his attitude improve and confidence levels increase while getting lots of exercise, socializing/having fun and learning self defense as well as other valuable life skills. Each month, they focus on traits such as honesty, courtesy, gratitude, courage, perseverance, etc and in general how to "do the right thing." Really appreciate the fact that they are teaching today's youth to be good citizens. In addition, I know several families who have their kids enrolled at LMAA for several years. They are all kind, respectful and considerate young adults. I have personally found every staff member (both young and old) to be polite and helpful to the point of opening doors and giving up their seats for me. Quite honestly, I cannot wait to see my child grow up to be compassionate, disciplined and confident while also having the ability to defend himself if needed. We absolutely adore Livermore martial arts. My twins in elementary school really needed help in how to tackle playground elementary school disagreements and overall how to stand up to mean kids. I love the emphasis they have on role playing real life situations. I've observed them practicing a home break in and having them call for help and give their address, to what to do on the playground if someone is being mean/bully. They've told my children to shout louder, to stop smiling because this practice is not a game it's real life practice, that if they get their hair tugged on "oh well, you are training that's going to happen". I soak this up, because our children need this education from people other then me. I bring them here so they have these life skills when I can't be there to protect them. We've only been here a few months, but already I've noticed a change in my children and also in our family. Their program includes family videos to watch and discuss together that are so relevant to why I looked into a martial arts school. I can't say enough positive things about them. We had our son's birthday at LMAA & the kids had SO much Fun!!! The studio was clean, the party was action packed & the party was organized & effortless! I had trained many years at this school under the owner and experienced instructors. I've seen both the children and adult programs have much success through their students. Children - definitely an all-around development school. Yes, your child is going to learn self-defense. In this day-and-age, this is a valuable skill. Unfortunately, this world is bringing more bullies. So, this will help your child develop techniques should something physical happen to them. But LMAA brings more to the table. I haven't heard it outside of this school. But LMAA has a focus to teach children of life skills such as respect, discipline, focus, and indomitable will (to name a few). In every class there is time allotted to have the kids learn these characteristics. It also teaches them that all of these developing strengths need to be applied in all aspects of their life. A progression for the next colored belt not only demonstrates a growth in the martial arts school, but also their time away from it. If your child isn't living up to these characteristics at home or school, then they haven't fully understood that the next rank isn't just a change in the belt, and they will have to wait until everything is on par.
