    The wine trolley vehicle

The wine tasting was really fun. We decided to do this for our first year of marriage anniversary. We never been wine tasting before. It was an amazing experience and I'm really glad it came with food. Very knowledgeable people as well. It was well worth the money. We would definitely do something like this again. Our driver Fernando was really awesome as well and played really fun music! 10/10!

We hadn't taken the wine trolley in quite a few years and were pleasantly surprised. Our driver Fernando was excellent, we were given water and he even kept our purchases until the end of the day. My only feedback is the quality of the "small bites" paired with the wines could be better at Concannon and Las Positas. Garre food was great. Great value overall

George was our driver for the Family Lights night. He did an amazing job and had fun commentary the whole ride. He had the perfect Christmas tunes and did a great job pointing out what to look at. We went last year and had fun but this experience was a lot better and way more fun! Can we request him for next year?

So much fun!!! If you're debating this experience because it's a little pricey, I'm here to tell you that it's so worth it! It's a great introduction into the Livermore winery scene. Super fun to do with the girls or for other special occasions. The trolley is adorable! It's very clean, has A/C, and they provide you with water in between wineries. Our driver Kevin was the best. He was friendly and respectful. He kept us on time without making us feel rushed. Remember to bring cash to tip your driver :). You visit 3 wineries and have about an hour at each winery. It was a mix of indoor and outdoor tastings. My favorites were Concannon and Las Positas. Half of our party was vegetarian and they were both very accommodating. Both their grounds were so beautiful! Garre Vineyard was alright. It was our last stop and the tasting and grounds weren't as impressive overall. They do not accommodate to vegetarian and we were asked to scrape meat off some of the food...yikes. You don't get actual food per se but each winery has their own pre-prepared charcuterie for each guest that was more than enough for me. But, I can see how others may need a little more food for the amount of wine we drank lol. Huge plus, trolley guests get a discount on bottles. Definitely recommend this experience.

Tours started promptly at 11am and our tour guide and driver, George is awesome! We visited three vineyards, two with pairings. We were supplied with plenty of bottled water and fun music. Everyone started the tour as strangers but ended as friends. Such a fun experience!

I booked a trolley for my bachelorette party, and the experience was absolutely perfect! From the start, the coordinator was fantastic. I worked with Kendra--super responsive, provided clear options on different trolleys and pricing, and made sure I knew exactly what was included. On the day of, our driver was incredible--friendly, attentive, and super fun. The entire day was seamless, fun, and truly unforgettable. There is a sound system on board that you can connect your Bluetooth to. It didn't work for us but George let us use his device to play songs. There's a cooler onboard and usb ports at every seat. Everyone in my group kept raving about how amazing the experience was. I highly recommend this service and you'll be very lucky if you get George as your driver!

Such a fun birthday event! Livermore has so many lovely wineries to visit and this trolley gives you an opportunity to see at least 3 on a fun trolley ride. They do not encourage groups to get rowdy and I'd be lying if I said my girl gang didn't get a smidge rowdy, but as long as you don't disturb the other passengers, they are pretty easy going. The food tasting... differs at each winery. The first winery, Coconanan (sorry I can't spell), had some cheese and crackers but the next one had a strange plate with a single bite of pasta and ranch dressing salad ! In other words, expect amazing views and delicious wine but maybe eat a little bit first, because the food tasting is not going to really feed you. And drinking on an empty stomach is not the move unless you wanna end up face down in the grass! Pro tip: you will be eligible for some discounts with local businesses in downtown livermore after purchasing your tickets. So peruse around and grab a bite to eat in downtown after! Overall, this made for an amazing birthday experience and I'd recommend for a celebration or team building event!

To go charcuterie with delicious Bree and the best grapes ever!

Ask the Community - Livermore Wine Trolley

Hello how many people is the minimum or max for a private bday and what is the pricing options?

Hi Reynold, You have few options for a private experience for your bday celebration. If you’d like to reserve a trolley and create you’re own itinerary, you can rent a trolley…

Looking at the reservation options, there are different starting wineries. Do all tours go to the same wineries and just start at different locations or are they completely different routes?

Thank you for your question. The Tour is the same for each starting winery option, just in different order of wineries visited.

As we crossed the bridge we saw Treasure Island and passed through the short Yerba Buena Island Tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel the San Francisco skyline shrouded in fog came into view. We took the first exit on the right and proceeded to the Embarcadero. As we traveled along the Embarcadero we saw the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street where a Farmers Market was in progress. As we continued we saw many restaurants and piers. We passed the Exploratorium, the cruise ship terminal. (The Port of San Francisco hosts over 80 cruise ship calls and 300,000 passengers annually at the James R. Herman (Pier 27) and Pier 35 cruise terminals.) We passed Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, The Cannery, Cable Car turn-a-round and Ghiradeli Square. All along the Embarcadero we had great views of the Bay and Alcatraz. Next, we traveled for a few blocks on Van Ness Avenue and then turned West on Lombard Street. We traveled down Lombard to the Palace of Fine Arts, our first stop. The Palace of Fine Arts was originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. We took pictures and then returned to the bus. Upon leaving the Palace of Fine Arts we traveled north towards the Golden Gate Bridge which we learned that the name has nothing to do with the color of the bridge which is International Orange. We traveled across the bridge which was barely visible because of the fog, which is typical for this time of year. (Most homes in SF do not have A/C because of the natural air conditioning of the fog.) At the end of the bridge we pulled into the North Golden Gate Vista Point. We took pictures, but the bridge was obscured by the fog and we could not see San Francisco at all. Benjamin Robinson took a group picture of all of us and the grandchildren of George Andrews--the first cousins. Following that, we traveled back across the GGB to SF past the SF Presidio on Presidio Parkway. We turned west on Geary Street and took Geary to Lands End Lookout. We were able to spend a little bit of time here to visit the visitor center and take pictures. From Lands End Lookout we were able to see the ruins of the Sutro Baths, the Cliff House, Seal Rock, and where the San Francisco Bay pours into the Pacific Ocean. Benjamin Robinson was able to get a great group picture and he was able to get into the picture as well. Upon returning to the bus we traveled for a few blocks along Ocean Beach on the Great Highway and then turned up John F. Kennedy Drive into Golden Gate Park past the Beach Chalet and the Dutch Windmill. (Golden Gate Park is 20% larger than Central Park in NYC.) We continued on JFK Drive passing buffalo, soccer fields, manmade lakes, barbeques, and bounce houses until we stopped at the Music Concourse. The area of the Music Concourse includes a stage, Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, and the Academy of Sciences. We departed the Music Concourse and continued through the park past the Conservatory of Flowers which first opened in 1879. It is the oldest building in GGP. Upon leaving the park we turned right on Stanyan Street and then left on Haight Street where we entered the Haight-Ashbury district that became a very popular place for hippies and flower children especially during the Summer of Love in 1967. We continued up Haight past Ashbury and made a circle around to see the "Painted Ladies" (restored Victorian homes painted with at least three colors) and then down to Oak Street to an area named the Panhandle. We made a right turn on Oak. We turned left on Franklin and then right on Grove. We passed the War Memorial Opera House (first meeting of the United Nations was held there), Davies Symphony Hall, San Francisco City Hall (London Breed is the first African American female mayor of SF), and the Old SF Public Library which is now an Asian Art Museum. We drove up Larken Street and turned right on California Street. We went to the top of Nob Hill where we saw Grace Cathedral, the Masonic Temple, Pacific Union Club, the Fairmont and the Mark Hopkins hotels. As we continued down from Nob Hill on California Street we crossed Grant Avenue in the heart of Chinatown. We made a left turn on Kearny Street, a left turn on Broadway, and a right turn on Columbus. We passed through North Beach and from the bus we looked up Lombard to see the "crookedest street in the world." From Columbus Street we made our way to Pier 39 where the bus driver dropped us off for one hour. He picked us up at 3:00 PM and took us back across the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Bridge to the Marriott Hotel by 4:00 PM. We had a great time. Everyone was thrilled at the sites and there was such a beautiful spirit of family love.

Umbrella Bus barely got our passengers from Point A to Point B, did not do so efficiently, and arguably didn't do it terribly safely. We booked Umbrella for a 54-passenger shuttle to transport wedding guests from our wedding hotel to our ceremony venue, and then from the ceremony venue to the reception venue ($1050 total). I confirmed this itinerary with their staff by email and phone several times (at least three), because they kept sending me invoices that only showed a partial itinerary, but they assured me that they had the correct itinerary written down and would read off the correct itinerary on the phone when I called. On the first trip, the bus driver got the bottom of the bus stuck on a steep hill, rendering it unable to move. Guests had to walk nearly a quarter mile from where the bus got stuck to the ceremony site. The bus was also blocking the entrance to the park where the ceremony was held, meaning that park visitors and several wedding guests who were behind it were severely delayed in getting into the park. We had a couple of guests who missed some of the wedding ceremony because the bus blocked the entrance for so long. It would've been 3.5 stars if only for this, since it wasn't 100% the driver's fault, though he should really have known what the buses he drives are able to handle. On the second trip, though, despite me confirming the destinations in the itinerary with Umbrella MULTIPLE TIMES, the driver had somehow been given the wrong destination by their dispatch, and took guests back to the hotel instead of to the wedding reception venue. My family members had to argue with the driver, who insisted that he'd been told to take everyone back to the hotel, and "I'm only doing two trips, how will people get back to the hotel?" but he eventually relented and took everyone to the reception instead, but meant that most of the guests were delayed by quite a bit in getting to the reception. This definitely wasn't the driver's fault though, and was clearly the fault of the company/dispatch. He did eventually take the guests where they needed to go, which we appreciate.

Wonderful Experience with A Taste of SF Tours - Highly Recommend!…read more We recently went on a Muir Woods tour with A Taste of SF Tours, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our guide, Peter, was excellent--professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He even texted us the night before to confirm the pickup time and location, which we really appreciated. Peter arrived right on time and emphasized his goal to start early in order to avoid traffic, secure good parking at Muir Woods, and get ahead of the crowds. Sure enough, his planning paid off--we bypassed a traffic slowdown near Mt. Tam, parked conveniently close to the entrance, and entered the park well ahead of the busier groups. This gave us a more peaceful experience and allowed us to take stunning photos without too many people in the background. By the time we were finishing the loop, crowds were just starting to arrive--perfect timing! We had plenty of time to soak in the natural beauty, enjoy the crisp morning air, and take in the quiet serenity of Muir Woods before it got busy. After our walk, Peter took us to Sausalito, where we had the option to either return with him to San Francisco or take the ferry back to Pier 39 or the Ferry Building. We chose the ferry so we could explore Sausalito more leisurely, enjoy a delicious lunch by the bay, and do a bit of shopping. It was a perfect way to end the day. Even though Peter has only been leading tours in SF for six months, he impressed us with how much he knew about San Francisco, Marin, Sausalito, and Muir Woods--he never ran out of interesting facts and stories. He's also a great driver, which helped ease my nerves on the winding road up to Muir Woods. (He mentioned he used to be a Grand Canyon tour guide, so he's clearly experienced with mountain roads!) As a side note, I've lived in San Francisco for 20 years, and this was my first time visiting Muir Woods on a tour. I had avoided driving there myself because of the twisty roads, but taking this tour was the best decision. It was stress-free, enjoyable, and gave me a whole new appreciation for this beautiful spot just outside the city. Highly recommend this tour to both visitors and locals looking for a relaxed, informative, and well-organized way to experience Muir Woods!

One thing I appreciated was how professional they were. When I reached out via email to get added to a tour they responded pretty quickly. Then, once the date and time we're confirmed they sent me a confirmation. Our tour guide (Peter) texted us the day before to confirm the time he would pick us up by the Zeppelin hotel. We parked in a garage right next door to it and it was $18 since we entered by 730. He showed up early and we went off to the next pick up spot. The shuttle was full but comfortable. We got to see some great sites. It was nice to check out the Golden Gate Bridge from a different angle. The Muir Woods were beautiful!!! Thanks to Peter, we got there early before all of the crowds that were coming in as we were leaving. Sausalito was a nice area. We had a really nice time on this tour and would do a tour with this company again.

Travel agent Jan Morris, of Direct Travel formerly Peak Travel, has been our travel agent for many…read moreyears. She is amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable about hotels, airline connections, transportation, and everything you need to have an awesome flawless trip. Her personal attention to detail is unbelievable. Last mont while staying in Disneyland our son wanted to join us. I called Jan and if she could make transportation and other reservations happen on the spur of the moment (only two hours notice). Jan's words were, "of course I can make this happen. And I love doing things like this for my clients." Amazing! American Airlines messed up some recent flight reservations. Jan is so dedicated she spent hours on the phone with American Airlines and worked diligently until everything got straightened out. We have friends who don't use a travel agent for their travels. All I can say to that is, don't leave home unless you have your trip booked by Jan Morris. She always has your back. You can't go wrong no matter how big or small your travels are if you have Jan taking care of you.

Word to the wise: I'm pretty sure the other review for Peak Travel on Yelp is from our travel…read moreagent, Erin Morse. First of all (read: before I begin with the bad part of this review), Erin was super helpful and friendly. She obviously was really familiar with Asia and her enthusiasm was infectious. When I initially called interested in visiting Europe in August, she suggested Asia instead because Europe is much more expensive that month (and partially closed down). It was an idea that sorta made sense... for Thailand anyway. Thailand is always hot so there's no good time to visit. Japan, on the other hand ended up being was just as hot and humid since we ended up visiting the worst month of the year. We'd never used a travel agent before and thought people used them to save money on travelling. We were very misinformed. We figured that we spend about $2000 more on our honeymoon than we needed to - mostly on hotel rooms. I thought Thailand in particular would be a cheap country to visit but it wasn't with Peak Travel. We would find cheap (but really good quality) hotels on asiarooms.com but our agent said she felt like she couldn't trust the site as much as going through the hotel directly. (I assume it was actually because Peak wouldn't receive a cut from the hotel.) Our agent suggested many tours and we didn't know better that we could have been just as happy or happier exploring on our own. The tours on the Japan portion of our trip were good. The Thailand part of our trip was a disappointment tour-wise. The Siam Nirarit dinner and dancing show was a snore (an expensive snore, too). We felt like the tour to the Golden Palace and Emerald Buddha were unneeded since it would have been easy to explore this complex on our own. Also, the tour conveniently dropped us off at a gem store (the big scam in Bangkok we were to find out since every tuk tuk driver wanted to take us to these, too) in order for us to catch a shuttle back to our hotel. Anyway, the gem store involvement made the tour group seem shady. Also, they arrived 45 minutes late for our tour and claimed they'd called ahead to tell us - then IN FRONT OF US we saw them quietly call the hotel to leave us a message to say they'd be late. Erin did recommend Ko Samui, and that ended up being our favorite part of the trip. However, I really can't recommend the Ko Samui monkey show that Erin had been to that must have changed a lot since she'd seen it. Basically it was the world's worst animal show (for $9/person, too!) where the trained monkeys only did their tricks half the time and the other half involved the monkeys selling candy to visitors for money. Might I mention that the monkeys failed at doing their tricks about half the time, too, and chose to defecate on the stage instead. Since their tricks involved pretending to play a guitar and standing on the heads of visitors I really can't blame them. The good thing about going through an agent is that ours coordinated everything. Travelling from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji and Hakone and then via bullet train to Kyoto might have been a little complicated for us to plan. I guess Peak Travel did a good job. I just would never use them again. I definitely recommend forming your own itinerary using tripadvisor and discount hotel room websites like asiarooms.com and skipping the travel agent.
