For over $6,000 a month, you would expect a certain standard of service they claim to provide--but that could not be further from reality. My mom entered with dementia that was still mild; she was independent and did not need memory care. We paid for a room, cleaning service, and medication dispensing. Yet her room was consistently dark, dingy, and NEVER cleaned. The entire facility often smelled of urine. After repeated complaints about the filth, nothing changed--I eventually bought my own supplies and cleaned her room and bathroom myself. Even worse, as my mom's dementia progressed, the staff NEVER communicated with us about her episodes or what was happening. How can a facility responsible for people's loved ones fail to notify families about their care and wellbeing? For the cost charged and the level of neglect received, this facility is unacceptable. DO NOT send your loved ones here.

It's comparable in costs and services to other local places. Good responses to needs and family members' requests. The billing and paperwork processes are not modern nor online but manageable. Private rooms for residents are like large hotel rooms. Planned events are very good. Transportation is included but scheduling is required. Outings are nice and seem well planned.

My mom has made friends and enjoys herself and the activities they provide. The little apartments are very nice, and I am happy that they have cleaning and laundry service. The staff in the dining room are good at accommodating individual preferences, and the residents really enjoy their meals. I have no hesitation at recommending Woodland Terrace.

Employees are well trained, friendly and efficient! Initially, the dining and kitchen staff had vacancies, but that has changed. Daily continental breakfasts are provided, with Wednesday offering a variable of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Every other Sunday a hearty brunch is provided and is excellent! The evening dinner is also provided in the Dining Room. Depending upon personal preference, a menu is completed the day before and returns to the kitchen. Staffing can alter whether it will be a buffet style or seated dining. Soup, salad, entrèe, and a variety of sides and a dessert is included as a part of the monthly rent. Access to Doctors Making House Calls, Legacy Physical Therapy, a gym and a heated pool are also available on site. Clubs range from Book Clubs, Veteran's group, off campus events, etc. all add to create a thriving environment!

The residents go out of their way to welcome newcomers and help them acclimate through an ambassador program. I often joined dad on Friday afternoons for "happy hour" in the cafe. Although he didn't drink, he enjoyed a glass of cider and socializing with other residents. I made as many friends as he did and really enjoyed visiting, especially for concerts, special events and dinner. Highly recommended.

What I've come to understand about hospice orgs is that they seem to attract nurses who may be…read moreburned out from other jobs. This results in transactional care, checking off boxes to comply with Medicare but a lack of genuine compassion for the patient. (hospice enrollment recommendations below) Hospice affords more normal hours than working at a hospital. However, the trade off is probably that the nurses may have to drive 100 miles a day all over the county to serve patients. It's a crap shoot when it comes to the nurse case manager (weekly nurse) you get based on when you enroll in hospice care. And it's a crap shoot for the nurses too, who gets assigned to them. (see #4 below) Transitions was recommended to me by someone I trusted. I didn't know what I didn't know but my initial instinct during the first transaction with the intake nurse seemed off to me. She didn't listen, was not paying attention to what I said (about my Mom's care needs) and not educating us on how we should be looking at the whole hospice experience, especially medication management. We lasted a month and a half before I went to another company. The whole point of hospice is having continuity of care. The nurse case manager kept scheduling other nurses to come in her place which consequently caused us to have to orient a new nurse almost every week. Recommendations for Hospice Enrollment and Ongoing Management 1) Trust your instincts if your first interactions with the hospice org aren't stellar. Unless your family member is very close to death you probably have time to interview another company. 2) How medication is administration is explained and distributed (by mail or pharmacy pick up) is critical. 3) Understand that the first several intake people who call or visit may not be the regular providers you will be seeing. They have to check boxes for Medicare so they may only be marginally helpful. 4) The Clinical Manager who manages schedules and nurse performance is THE most critical role in the process. This person MUST be a great problem-solver, compassionate, caring, understanding and a good listener. Spend time up front describing your loved one's personality, likes and dislikes to hopefully get the best match possible nurse case manager (weekly nurse). 5) Once you get through the initial process, if you don't like the hospice care you're getting it's fairly easy to transition to another company (assuming you have POA for your loved one). 6) Make sure your POA and Healthcare POA are updated. If you had documents drafted years ago, they may not be specific enough for today's requirements. 7) If you have a life alert system you can give the hospice company number to the life alert system company so 9-1-1 won't get called in an emergency. 8) LPN's have more authority with medications than RN's but Medicare requires RN's to visit at least once every other week. 9) Hospice nurses understand that the closer to the end of life someone is, the less interested in eating they will be. Also, people at the end of life will sleep more. So keep track of eating and sleeping because the nurses will be most interested in that in addition to pain management. 10) Document changes in health in advance of nurse visits even if it's jotting small notes on a calendar because over time all the days blend together.

That means that you can't go to Rooms to Go, or Ashley furniture, and throw it in the back of the truck and take it straight there. You have to go buy it, pay extra for shipping, and wait a few days for them to schedule delivery. They do have WiFi for families to use while visiting. The issue was that I had to give them my personal device so so they could enter the password. Now we all know some of us have sensitive work information on our devices, and can't let anybody holing our unlocked devices. And sometimes we don't trust how) clean a person's hands might be. (I know I see adults digging for gold nuggets in their nose) But for the overall care to patients, they do have decent care, and a nice facility. 2024-13 #542

Staff...they could not have been any better! always there to help you, their concern and exceptional care got me on my way to return home feeling secure and strong. the meals were exceptionally good, as I needed to put on weight, I looked forward to the variety of tasty food. Not the institutional hospital food bland! I am an extremely active aquatic instructor and retired healthcare worker. always tried to give my best to patients...God blessed me sending me to Bella Rosa...thank you all again for healing me physically and mentally. Going in during COVID was stressful but they were understanding and kept us updated on protocols and procedures.
