I am fairly disappointed with the services I received from Visiting Angels, especially since I read…read moresuch positive reviews before I decided to use their services. I scheduled for caregivers to come on Sept 6, 7, and 8 (2024). My mother has serious health needs and is in need of consistent care. For each of these 3 days, the caregivers were no-shows and canceled their visits. On the 8th, we were informed that the caregiver had to cancel because she was "not feeling well due to her period." This left our family in a very precarious and uncomfortable situation, scrounging to ask other family members to come by and help with feedings and changings. A replacement was finally found for the 8th, but we declined. We had already contacted family, who agreed to take out of their schedule to come and assist us. We need more consistency, given my mother's conditions, and Visiting Angels dropped the ball. It adds another level of stress to an already-stressful situation when caregivers cancel and leave us hanging. They offered no type of compensation for our troubles. We requested that they pay our current invoice ($120) as a creative way to compensate us and make us whole from the 3 canceled visits. The owner said no. We have decided to remain with a second company that we have patronized, One You Love Homecare, for our private homecare needs. They communicate well and are sensitive to our mother's condition. I know things happen and no agency is perfect. However, having cancellations 3 days in a row (and with no form of tangible compensation for the problems we encountered) was disappointing, leaving our family in a serious bind. We wish them the best but felt the need to share our experience.

I know I express the sentiments of my entire family when I say that if you are seeking care for your elderly parent ... consider this firm. My mom (Mim) lived alone and independently in the family home until just the last few months of her life. At 97 she "allowed" us to send in a caregiver in the early morning and the late afternoon. We met with several agencies in the area and she immediately chose Touched by Angels ... primarily because during the interview sessions with Pam Parrot, Mim was the person to whom Pam directed her conversations ... not me ... not my sister or brother. We were blessed in that Mim was still "sharp as a tack" so this made it possible ... but so often, family members and agencies will talk over the elderly and make decisions which they feel are best. This was not the case with Pam. The caregivers who were selected to work with Mim were handpicked by Pam who talked enough with Mim to know her interests and hobbies. They quickly became more than just helpers ... they became dear and trusted friends. On the day Mim took a big downturn and it was discovered that her doctor was out of the country, Pam was there helping me make that tough decision to transfer her to the hospital. Then on what was surely the hardest day of my life when the hospital transferred Mim to a nursing home, who showed up for moral support ... Pam Parrot. It's important to note that the weatherman was calling for extreme weather that morning (sleet, snow possible tornadoes). Each of Mim's caregivers visited her and called constantly to check on her well being. All went above and beyond what was written in their job descriptions. I will never forget this and I wholeheartedly offer my recommendation for this firm and the people who work there. They are the Angels when you need them!

BUYER BEWARE!!! My mother was a resident of Preston Pointe,…read morean independent senior living facility, for less than one month when she fell and broke her arm. The financial burden and stress which occurred next would completely take my family by surprise. When we moved Mom out of my house to a separate living situation, I wanted to make it her last move and ensure that her needs would be met without needing to move her again. Grant Fessler, the "Lifestyle Counselor", provided me with the impression that she would be able to transition in place if she needed more care. That proved to be a totally false statement. What happened was that we were required to pay an on-site service $22 per hour for 24-hour care if Mom was to remain at Preston Pointe once she completed her rehabilitation elsewhere. The 24-hour care requirement was put in place to ensure her safety and well-being, according to the staff I spoke with. With the cost of her living arrangements, that put her monthly cost at OVER $30,000. My main complaint is that Preston Pointe misled me. If they were really an organization that was focused first on care and less on profitability, they would have been very specific up-front about what it would cost for me to safely emulate their requirements for an assisted-living level of care at Preston Pointe. When my Mother returned from her rehabilitation, they required that my Mother have 24-hour care in order to protect their liability and that is all. I brought to their attention that my Mother did not need 24-hour care one-on-one but that was their requirement. I could not get anyone to budge on this requirement. This care was provided by an external company named Comfort Keepers. Comfort Keepers has a contract to provide the on-site care needed by residents of Preston Pointe. The Comfort Keepers person was limited in training and did not even have a CNA under their requirements. Essentially, I was paying for a glorified baby-sitter. I was livid. I had no recourse but to move my Mother to a dedicated Assisted Living Facility and out of Preston Pointe. I would advise that anyone who is looking into senior living for their elderly parents or other relatives ask some very pointed questions when a facility claims they can provide more than one level of care. Those questions should be centered around what does each level of care entail and what is the typical cost. I was blind-sided by this additional cost by a slick sales person who tried to convince me everything was do-able and that everything would be OK. He even told me that the 60-day move out notice would be waived if my Mother had to move for medical reasons or passed away. Again, the reality was that that did not happen. I also did not even get credit for the meals that my Mother did not eat while she was in rehabilitation for three weeks! Buyer beware! I would advise everyone not rush into these very emotional decisions about your loved ones. Use the experience of others to try avoiding complications for your future. Think about their entire lifespan left and the fact that you might need to move them more than once. I also advise anyone who thinks they need multiple levels of care available to pick a facility that says up front that they offer Independent Care and Assisted Living. There are very few standards that these businesses are held accountable to and so that means different things at different places.
