We chose our recliner in a few minutes. Approached a salesperson and easy salesperson for them. All seemed good. But, very quickly, too quickly, he rattled off delivery as drop outside, drop inside and then the third was full delivery of some kind. We have a 900sqft condo, the chair was going within 12ft of front door, so inside only was fine. EXCEPT, the guy DID NOT EXPLAIN the recliner would be IN A BOX & that delivery required 36" opening. When we had our first recliner delivered by a different company, it was wrapped, not boxed, and could fit on it's side through the door. BUT NOT A BOX!!!! Disappoint #1 in your service, he should have said it would be a box and did we have the capacity. Disappointment #2 - he also didn't explain WE WOULD HAVE TO ASSEMBLE THE RECLINER!!!!! We've had 3 recliners in the past and they all came as one piece!!! We werd shocked when we opened the box and we had to read the two CONFLICTING instructions (one in booklet that came with recliner & the one emailed to me). We are SENIORS!! If we wanted to assemble furniture, we would have gone to IKEA!!! The salesperson should have FULLY explained that there would be assembly and that would be included in delivery cost number three - - which we would have gladly paid). BUT NO!!! He just was flipping through pages on his tablet for us to sign and get his sale and be done before they used at 9pm. We approached him at 8:30pm to buy the recliner, not as about it, we were already a firm sale. The lack of customer service for the other side of the sale (when we'd take possession) gives me pause to recommend you to others. If we did, we'd have to be sure it was with the caveat to ask if their furniture would come assembled or not, and if they have the capacity for the delivery. We paid for delivery option #2, to be placed INSIDE the condo. It wasn't until I got the delivery notice that it gave all the parameters (or in the fine print in the store that was NEVER EXPLAINED by our salesperson). That was too late. So we could have had drop at door for cheaper since that's all they did. But we would have paid for & ordered the full set up if someone could have taken 2min to explain this to us as we are paying for our item & delivery. You dropped the ball on this one!!!! One of the absolute worst experiences I have ever had. I bought a bed frame from the Fashion Valley store "as is" to save some money. The initial experience was great - they showed me the bed told me it came with any scuffs that I could see and told me I could pick it up the next day from the warehouse. I show up the next day at the warehouse to pick everything up - they give me what they said was all the pieces, and I took it home. I go to set up the bed frame that weekend only to find out that it was not what they showed me in store. It was missing, 2 center pieces, the wood slats, a leg, and almost all the hardware. Not to mention - one of the center pieces was broken and a side piece was snapped - hanging on by a mere thread. I go to call the number and it routes me to Living Spaces support line. They tell me they cannot help as it is an "as is" item and would have the store call me directly. I wait a couple of days and nothing - so I reach back out the support team again, who says again, they will call me. Shocker, no call. I then go into the store - and explain the situation. The Customer Service team is great - they check to see if they have the missing pieces, they apologize, and come back saying we can't find them. Return the bed and we will give you a refund. I was extremely grateful as it was not a cheap piece for me. Unfortunately - due to circumstances out of my control - I had to leave San Diego and was gone for 6 weeks. I was not thinking about the bed frame whatsoever as I had other stuff to deal with- and not to mention - there was no way to contact the store directly. I arrived back to San Diego after an exhausting time gone - and go to the store the next day to return the piece and explain what had happened. I come to find out that I was supposed to only have 7 days from when I had last talked to them to return the item for my refund. Not only was I never told this, which is problem #1. Problem #2 is that I was not here to do so and couldn't communicate with the store to let them know what was happening. If I had known originally that I only had 7 days and had to leave- I would've reached out to explain what was going on to workout a solution. The didn't tell me the 7 days - and there is no way to contact the store directly. I asked to speak to someone who could assist who told me I was SOL, I had the 7 days and now I was screwed. Living Spaces - you misrepresented a sale - providing me with 1/2 the pieces - where the bed was not functional. On top of breaking the product and not mentioning it to me when I came to pick it up, as it was all wrapped up and I couldn't see. You stole my money and lacked any compassion for my situation. It would've been better to light my money on fire than deal with the BS that took place. The hours of driving back and forth - talking to a customer service team that couldn't help - awaiting a call that never came - multiple Uhaul rentals to pick up and return said items. I could not have had a worst experience with this store. Some team members were kind and understanding, until management decided it was better to steal my money then talk through a bad situation for the customer. I understand the weird circumstances regarding the purchase - however, it is no excuse for packaging up a damaged product and telling me to eat the cost when it was you that improperly and misguiding advertised a product that was broken on no fault due to me. Starting with the delivery, Living Spaces did not notify me when my couch was being delivered, so I wasn't able to open my garage and have the boxes placed inside. Instead, the boxes were left scattered around my complex, including areas where they obstructed people trying to use the stairs. Unfortunately, the return/exchange process was even worse. The employee I spoke with on the phone seemed completely unfamiliar with the process and could not answer basic questions about my return or exchange. What should have been a straightforward process became unnecessarily frustrating and time-consuming. I ended up bringing the couch back to Living Spaces piece by piece myself. I carried the first pieces across the entire store to the back counter while multiple employees watched without offering any assistance. When I returned with another section, I unloaded it from my vehicle and brought it into the warehouse completely by myself--again, while employees watched and did not offer to help. I specifically explained that I was in a rush to get back to work. Despite having my receipt with the order information directly in front of her, the employee could not locate my order and made the situation feel like it was somehow my problem that she didn't know how to do her job. There was no sense of urgency or effort to help resolve the issue. Overall, the customer service was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. The staff seemed uninterested in helping, the return/exchange process was unnecessarily difficult, and the entire experience felt disorganized. On top of that, be aware of their return fees. If you decide you do not want an item or are dissatisfied, there are fees stacked on top of fees, unless of course you buy something from their store of greater value. They couldn't care LESS about their customers, it's all about the money. After dealing with the delivery issues, lack of assistance, poor customer service, and return fees, I would not recommend Living Spaces. I like going to this location because the furniture is top quality but not ridiculously high in price. I feel the prices are fair and better than any furniture store in Chula Vista. We just recently bought a living room set and I was very happy with the product and selection. However, the black gentleman that helped us out had a little bit of an attitude which was kind of a turn off. But he did help us out and show us lots of selections, but he was just fast talking and didn't really smile. Other than that, the place was great. Their popcorn machine was busted this time but when it's working, it's cool because you get free popcorn while you're waiting. They also have a little daycare center to put your kids while you're shopping. However, you have to get there early for that. I think this is a go to place especially if you live south of the eight freeway and want some better quality than Mor's furniture or Jerome's. I think living spaces is better. We went into Living Spaces to check out a bed that is only available on line but I guess they have an agreement to sell it in their store. I did not want to buy a bed that I couldn't try out and they had the best selection of beds. Their sales representative, Joanne, was very kind and there was no pressure to purchase. We ended up purchasing the bed. Then it came time for delivery, which was 2 days after the purchase. I felt there was good communication via phone and text about the delivery coordination and the guys who delivered and set up the bed were awesome. They also took away the old bed but we did have to wrap it in plastic that they provided for us. We also ordered a small sofa which was delivered today. UPDATE (Review based on delivery) Couple weeks ago I ordered a $250 living room rug and a $970 couch because I wanted to lively up my new home. While shopping, the staff definitely let me shop in peace, to the point I had to hunt someone down to help me. The person who helped me was great! I added to my bill, 1) full delivery service (setup and delivery) 2) the 5 year insurance. I was told, my rug will be delivered in within 2 weeks via UPS and the couch will be delivered in 4-6 weeks via the delivery company. Only within a week I get a text saying my couch is ready to be delivered and to select a window date within a 2 week window. This was unexpected - now I had to try and get rid of my current couch 3 weeks earlier which isn't an easy task. :: DELIVERY :: Here's the damn kicker... I select a Monday delivery which is an additional $20 (on top of the $99 I already paid for delivery). Then the day before I get a window of 12:30 - 3:30 and the showed up around 2. They "set-it-up" which it was already prebuilt in my livingroom and when I said "that's it" they told me yup some furniture is already prebuilt. AND while they were putting the cushion they walk up into my home with their dirty ass shoes (I am asian, we take shoes off in our house because we clean and don't like dirt tracking in our home) but I get it they are delivery people. One had the fkn audacity to step all over my NEW rug I just rolled out before they came and got dirt foot makings from his shoes on it. I flipped out and said to just give the cushion to me and I'll do it because he's leaving dirt marks on my new rug from living space. I mean so judgement but I think it's disgusting when people don't take of their shoes entering a home. The entire ordeal of delivery was literally 5-7 minutes. Quick and easy money for them. My first experience here was absolutely horrible! The carpet my Interior Designer purchased had a large black stain on it -- it looked like oil, probably from the rollers it was hanging on during inspection. We didn't unfold it until a few days later, and when I went back to return it, they told me it was an "as is" item and refused to help. Even after speaking with the manager, Carlos, he was stoic, cold, and showed no sympathy that I had just spent $700 on a rug I'll never be able to use & gave me one option that I could "give it away" as a sol. I completely understand policies, but any company that values customer service should know when to make exceptions -- especially when a product is delivered with a visible stain that wasn't disclosed at the time of purchase. I bought a recliner that had a chair lift. Purchased the warranty that I was told was all inclusive. I found out that was not correct. The lift mechanism failed right away so I got another chair as it was only about two weeks old. The second chair the mechanism started failing after about a year or so. Tried to use the warranty and was told it was wear and tear and not included in the warranty. Well a few months later the whole frame broke and my father fell to the ground. The low rating on here is well deserved. Their delivery people seem to be the biggest hurdle to them getting repeat business. They show up whenever they wan and then leave within 10 minutes of their START delivery time. They didn't bother to deliver any part of our order and left while we were waiting for them to do their job. If you don't like delivering furniture, FIND ANOTHER JOB! After ordering 3 pieces of a couch I was disappointed with the cushions but figured that's just how they come. I added a middle unit and I found that the original cushions were manufactured HORRIBLY, bumpy and flat compared to the full new cushion I received. Inches of difference in 2 months. They claim wear and tear but I have pictures of the original delivery and it was the same. After multiple agents told me I have an easy claim it was denied twice and now they won't speak to me. After spending thousands on furniture they cannot even replace two cushions that are clearly manufactured poorly with more than 2 inches of difference between them. No replacement, no help. Worst customer service I've ever experienced and will tell every soul who listens to me about how terrible this company is for as long as I live. read more

We bought a mattress there for $800. The mattress delivered is not what was demonstrated in the store. When we tried to return it, we were told we could not return for buyer remorse! We asked to warranty it, nope buyers remorse...this is not buyers remorse, this was a bait and switch. Do not trust the product in store. We took this mattress to the Miramar matress recycling center after 2 months and bought and $250 matress on Amazon, which so far is 100% better. We will never shop here again. read more

The furniture at living Spaces is overpriced for what it is, but I had a situation where I needed a piece of furniture fast. I found something that was discounted because it was a floor model and the sales people were very helpful. Upon checking out, however, I was told that my item was being delivered by a third-party company and that they worked 24/7. I reminded them that the delivery date they were giving me was on Easter, but they assured me that my item would be delivered between 1 PM and 2 PM. This morning, Saturday - the day before Easter, I got a call in the morning from living space is saying that they don't deliver on holidays, but they would get back to me for a delivery time on Monday. It's now 2 PM and since I didn't hear from anyone, I called the customer service number. I was told that there was no way to determine when my item would be delivered. I was told that they are unable to give me the phone number to the actual store so that I could speak with the people that initially told me about the delivery. Basically, I just needed to "wait and see." So, after arranging my day for the delivery on Sunday, I now need to clear my schedule on Monday and "wait and see..." I don't think I'm an unreasonable person. I would've been fine with the change if they would have called me back with more information like they said they were going to. This is inconvenient and frustrating and, quite honestly, I will go with Jerome's next time. read more

We have ordered a few times from living spaces. Each time has been an absolute nightmare and headache. We ordered a few stools for our kitchen online at night and realized the next morning we needed counter height instead of bar height. I called immediately to cancel or exchange and they would not allow it. The receipt clearly says orders can be canceled with in 48hrs. I would not recommend Living Spaces to anyone. The last recliner we purchased broke within one week of it being in our house. The power mechanism failed. Getting that one exchanged was another nightmare. They wanted us to bring the chair back, to get another. Its a recliner... not something you can pop in your trunk. This was the last straw! We were given misinformation about the financing options and I am livid with the store. I was told on multiple occasions that I would not have to pay anything for a year. Just received notice from the Synchrony bank that I past due on payment and was charged a late fee. I recognize that there may have been fine print that said I needed to pay minimum payment monthly but I literally asked the sales folks multiple times to confirm I would not be charged anything unless I did not pay in full by end of term. This is for information for others who make the same mistake as I did. I closed out the balance and highly recommend not financing with Living Spaces or Synchrony Bank. My mom in her 80's suffered a stroke and needed a chair to help her stand up out of it. So we purchased the Harvest Steel Power Lift Recliner. After a couple of weeks, it became very uncomfortable for her because she drops into a hole. The cushion/support underneath where she sits has malfunctioned. Living Spaces says they can't fix it, and they can't replace it, and so they are only offering store credit to purchase something else. We don't want store credit, we want a full refund so that we can purchase a quality chair from a different company. They're product failed soon after delivery and yet they refuse to give us a refund?! It's no wonder that all of their Living Spaces stores combined, have an average Yelp rating of 2 stars. This is a second review for this awful company with worse products. I didn't get any resolution to issue with the finish coming off my coffee table, was only told that I filed the claim a week late. Then I noticed tears in my one yr old recliner of which I purchased the 5 yr extended warranty. I filed a claim and was just notified that it was denied bc the issue is a scrape and not a scratch (picture below). When I asked to rep to define the difference between the two, I was read a google definition which made no sense in the context of a warranty. Really folks, stay away from this place. Not only are their products complete garbage but their customer service is even worse. At their Mission Valley location there are 2 or 3 other discount furniture stores within walking distance, save yourself the aggravation and go to one of those. Very unprofessional! Ordered dec 7 was told 2-3 weeks and waited almost 2 months I myself had to call for an update and was told i was not getting anything because everything was out of stock and not coming back. Called again and was told by someone else that I actually was but i had to wait unitl April. Spoke to a manager Jose who was actually helpful and offered a 10% discount. A week after that i surprisingly received an email saying i would be receiving my order feb. was set for the 9th with a full service which means they would asemble. Day came and evrything was just dropped off in boxes. I was already upset due to them not notifying me of the delayed delivery. I called to let them know and they scheduled a "rescue delivery" for them to come assemble for feb 14. In feb 13 i received an email with my time window.l 12:45-3:45 On the 14 at 7 am i received another email confirming. It was already 3:30 so i checked my email to see if anyone had reached out Found an email saying i had a scheduled delivery for april? I reached out and was told someone had called me an adviced me they would not be able to come assemble. Checked and i had a missed call but no voicemail no nothing. I dont know who they "adviced" since i did not even pick up and they did not leave a voicemail. Tried to speak to Jose again but seems he wasnt there. I spoke to an escalation manager who was no help and got defensive trying yo blame me? Saying I had changed the delivery. Which i had not. Tried asking again about someone lying saying they had spoken to me and went back to saying about me changing delivery. They wanted me to wait an extra 2 months with boxes in the middle of the house (4 months total wait) for me to get an assembled order. I was getting nowhere with this unprofessional manager and just told to cancel their "return order" that they placed on their own. Before I signed the paperwork, the sales representative told me that there was a one-month window for returns and that only a 10% restocking fee would be deducted; I accepted these terms and proceeded with the purchase. However, just nine days later, my spouse began experiencing shoulder and neck pain due to the sofa. I contacted the store to report this issue and requested an exchange for a different product, but they informed me that the return period was actually only seven days and that they could not do anything to assist me. *this review is for an online purchase: Living Spaces is generally easy to order from. They have good selection, and good quality items. However, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If you order something and pay for the white glove delivery, you are offered a 10 hour window for delivery. As a single working mom, I never have 10 hours free, and have no family in the area to sit around my home for 10 hours. They will call with a shorter 3-hour window the night before, but that's really short notice for a mom. If you have to reschedule when you get that actual 3 hour window, you get charged. I will never order for living spaces again, because their delivery policy is absolutely unworkable for single working parents. When I called customer service, they were not very kind to me and did not really seem to care. There are many other companies out there offering similar products, so customer service is really important, and any company that makes my life more stressful is not worth it. read more

What started as an exciting furniture purchase turned into a complete disappointment. While the sales staff at both San Diego locations were initially helpful (even offering a $218 discount), everything fell apart at delivery. My "new" sofa arrived with: * Visible stains throughout * Fabric pulling away in multiple areas * A crooked headrest * Poorly fitted material with slack everywhere. * A few pics for reference are attached. The delivery manager, seeing my shock, promised either a replacement OR a $347 discount if I kept the damaged piece. When I called the later to request the replacement, I was told they had NO stock available AND they would only offer $158 instead of the promised $347 discount. I'm now stuck with a damaged sofa that doesn't match what I saw in the showroom, no timeline for a replacement, and a company that won't honor the compensation their own delivery manager promised. For a major furniture purchase that's meant to last years, this level of product quality and customer service is DEEPLY DISAPPOINTING. I've spent countless hours trying to resolve this issue with No success. They've given nothing but false promises, refuses to honor commitments made by their own staff. I was looking for a new couch about a month ago. From my past experiences I did not think there was much of a selection of larger furniture stores in SD. There is IKEA and the bigger chain stores like Ashley's, Jerome's and MOR furniture. My friend suggested I hit up 'Living Spaces'. I did see many previous (not so great) reviews on Yelp so I was not expecting much at all.  To my surprise, the place was HUGE!  I thought the layout was pretty nice and I definitely think there was a quite a selection. ( budget to pretty pricey options) The two times I visited before finally picking my couch, the staff were friendly and helpful while I looked around at the options. I am pretty happy with the couch I ended up purchasing. When comparing to other furniture stores, the delivery options top the rest. (super affordable) Day of delivery, they came on time, moved my couch in carefully and quickly. My experience seems to be rare compared to the most recent reviews. My sis and I put the couch together, it didn't take much time at all. My rating is based solely on an online order I recently made that was delivered from this location. I have not visited this store in-person, and cannot speak on the associates at the store itself nor their customer service. I ordered the PIERCE ESPRESSO II DRAWER online on Halloween evening 2024 and am VERY pleased with my purchase and the entire delivery process. I was looking for a very large bedroom dresser of solid style and quality to be delivered quickly within 24-48 hours. To start, the dresser itself was rather reasonably priced IMO. Most dressers of such large dimensions are usually well over a $1000 and this was well under that and on clearance no less. I ordered it on a Thursday evening and it was delivered to me early Saturday afternoon without incident. I was UBER scared of all the 1-star reviews on here, but decided to take a chance anyway since I needed the dresser quick. I guess I'm just one of the rare and lucky folks that had zero issues. The delivery people texted me the day before and the day of delivery with a window of noon to 3pm, and were here no later than 1pm. They were a 3rd party delivery company, but they were quick and professional which is all I really needed. The dresser itself had a few dust marks here and there that I wiped off with a microfiber cloth, but there were ultimately zero scratches, scuffs, marks or any kind of damage or flaws. Gave the delivery people 5 stars and giving this place 5 stars as well. Again, I was simply highly impressed with how easy it was to order online, the solid quality & style, the reasonable price and most of all, that is was delivered in less than 36 hours. So sad to see all the reviews where folks were unhappy with their purchases, but I had the total opposite experience. Would certainly be willing to use Living Spaces again if I need something in a pinch. The dresser looks amazing as you can see. Still can't believe just how quickly it got here. Although they couldn't make a public announcement, the associate immediately initiated an internal safety protocol. Within seconds, all sales stopped, the doors were secured, the music was turned off, and staff asked for a description of our kids. Thankfully, we found them within a couple of minutes though any parent knows how long those minutes can feel. From the very beginning, the experience was frustrating. During my first visit to the showroom, I walked around for over an hour without a single associate offering assistance. I returned a week later and finally made a purchase -- a couch and chaise. Unfortunately, that was just the start of a series of issues. My initial delivery was scheduled, but no one showed up. I waited in my apartment for over an hour with no update or communication. I had to call the company myself to find out that the delivery had been canceled without notice. The rescheduled delivery was just as disorganized. I texted the driver the gate code and called to confirm I'd be there shortly. He said he would wait -- but by the time I arrived, no one was there. When I contacted customer service, I expressed how unacceptable the entire situation was. The manager I spoke with was dismissive and told me I'd be charged a rescheduling fee -- despite the fact that this was their second failed attempt to deliver. I refused the fee and canceled the order altogether. While the furniture in the showroom seemed like decent quality at a fair price, the customer service and delivery experience were absolutely not worth the stress and aggravation.
