Great food and service. Loved everything I had. The #7 breakfast special. 2 eggs, 2 sausages, ham, 2 pancakes and their syrup with melted butter muah

Not really my kind of place. Basic, solid in the food but a very old and, dare I say, cheap diner. Rather old crowd but you get a lot for the money. Nothing bad to say but it is just four or five rings below my normal breakfast stops.

Delicious food and great service!!! Ham is the best in town!! Definitely recommend this place!! Prices are also reasonable!!

Meat Lovers Omelette w/ Rye toast and cheesy grits
    Mike S.

Stopped in this morning for breakfast and had a very good experience. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive even though they were busy. I ordered a meat lovers omelette with rye toast and cheesy grits. The omelette was excellent and toast was made just right. The grits were a little bland but that was easily fixed with a bit of salt. Also a great sign of the service was that my coffee and water were never empty.

    Great pancakes!

First time eating here. My son and my dad like to come here for breakfast. I decided to try it out this morning. When we first pulled up, I was a little unsure based on the building. It's on Groesbeck and there was only one other customer parked in the lot. When we first walked in, I noticed that they were very patriotic in their decor, which I loved. American flag decor and eagles. We were seated in a booth and the waitress was very friendly. We met the owner, Eddie; hard working and passionate about his customers. Liz, the original owner had passed away and he bought the place 16 years ago. Every customer that walked in, they knew by first name. I love places like this; everyone was like family. Our food was good and very bog portions. The breakfasts were on special and I couldn't eat it all! Will patronize this restaurant again!

The interior is SUPER cool; old art deco style. Very clean, and lots of room in the bar area. Staff is SUPER friendly as well! I've had a cheese burger and Muffuletta. The burger was good, and punches above it's weight at the menu price. Not the best burger I've ever had, but a very good bar burger! The Muffuletta was excellent! Loads of Italian meats, a good layer of cheese and the bread was nice and soft. I try the Italian style sandwiches pretty much everywhere I go and this is 2nd or 3rd out of the dozens that I've tried. Great! They HAND CUT their own fries, so skip every other side, and get the fries. They're great as well! Don't pass this place up; it's a hidden gem!

I ordered the ribeye this time but have tried the filet, an chatobriegn a few times and both of those are delicious. My woman loved the scallops. The lobster cargo is amazing as well. Nice bread basket. Handmade table-side Caesar salad $17 for four servings. Good French onion soup, chops and lobster tail. The sour cream for the baked potato contained fresh cut chive. Delicious. CONS: Weird parking, seating cramped like sardines. Saturday evening dining room was LOUD! Could barely converse. Food is expensive: Tomahawk steak $90+. Ribeye $55+. New York Strip $50+. Most everything was ala carte. Disappointed that the Sander's hot fudge cream puff did not contain hot fudge anywhere near the taste and quality of the old Sanders recipe. Cream puff was stale too. A strong seafood smell permeated the entire restaurant. SUMMARY: Mr. Paul's Chophouse is a REAL restaurant for those special occasions. Total East side. Food is very good but not "great". Eat here for the old school vibe. Kudo's to the owners that keep it going.

The fall out fries were the move over the regular fries. The serving size was enough for 2 people. The side salad was run-of-the-mill. I ordered a medium rare, 1/2 lb bison burger on a brioche bun with aged white cheddar, caramelized onions, and bourbon ketchup. It ending up being rare instead of medium rare, and had fried (crispy) onions instead of caramelized. My wife crafted her own mac and cheese. After confirming the "chicken bites" were fried, she ordered a bowl of mac with those, onions, cheddar, and velveeta. The chicken appeared to be grilled rather than fried, and the mac itself lacked any flavor. Considering the mac was $21, we definitely wouldn't order it again. To say the least, I wasn't surprised to hear World's End closed. Had it not, I would have given it another chance.

Also, we ordered a full order of onion rings but only got a "half order" because "this was the last of them." He did only charge us for a half order thankfully. It was around 4pm so we were confused as to why so much of their food had run out. The service was really friendly but the let down of the food was really really dissatisfying. The Mac and cheese was a really good portion and the food we got was good. There were a ton of games alongside the windowsill in case you want to play. It was such a nice touch. There was a pirate vibe which fit the name really well. They do flights and had a great variety of mixed drinks. For a night out, this place would be good! There's no automatic doors however there are no steps required to enter this place. There's two handicap spaces.

The barbecue is excellent. Half slab of ribs are always big and meaty and falling off the bone. They have several different types of sauce. I prefer my sauce on the side but you can ask for it plain and they will do it. Also on Tuesday they have a fried chicken special. Four pieces for eight dollars. It comes with a side of coleslaw and potato wedges. I believe for an upcharge you can substitute some of the other sides. Staff working here are all fantastic.
