Best diner in the Sterling Heights area! I've tried this place twice now, both times have been absolutely delicious! Their omelettes are incredible, the egg is never overcooked and I have yet to have unmelted cheese!! (There's nothing worse than an omelette not having melted cheese imo). Their pancakes are also delicious, I've gotten plain and strawberry, both were so good! I will definitely be coming back. Located on the west side of Mound Rd in a little strip mall, this diner was quiet, clean, friendly and comfortable. My companion and i shared breakfast together. Booth seating is available and very comfortable. My plain Oatmeal was served hot with milk, raisins and brown sugar on the side. Ask for butter, if you want that too. The staff were so wonderful! We remained there for probably longer than usual catching up, and were actually encouraged to just remain (no, it was not busy)! Restroom (2 separate stalls in one space) was clean and stocked. I've passed this place a million times not thinking much of it, stopped by for a breakfast, the place was super clean, the staff extremely friendly and the most attentive I have experienced especially at a diner. Water and coffee were refilled constantly, all the servers were friendly and to top it off the food was super yummy! Nothing fancy but really well made breakfast. Empire Grill is getting a lot of great reviews. Just check out Ron C.'s photos and see for yourself how this old LA Coney Island has been re-done into a really nice family style restaurant. Their menu has it all from steaks, burgers and sandwiches to Middle Eastern, Mexican, Greek, Italian and Chinese. The nice thing is that you can get it all from open to close. Now Ron didn't have time to eat with Laurie and I but he was able to hang out with us for a short time. Laurie and I stayed longer to get caught up on things a bit before we ate. The server picked up on this and she totally let us have our space until we were ready. Laurie and I shared a Rachel sandwich platter which came with a huge portion of crispy golden fries that were some of the best I've ever had. It also came with a cup of chicken noodle soup. I'm sure it was Progresso. My only knock on this place was that the Rachel could have been better. We liked that they used thick cuts of turkey instead of the usual thin slices but then again, there wasn't much turkey and the sauerkraut overpowered the sandwich. If the meat and kraut ratio were switched, I would have easily given Empire Grill a 5 star rating. I'd go again but I'd get something else the next time. read more

Inconspicuously located in a small strip mall across from industrial business complex. The interior is nice and clean. Staff is friendly. Service was excellent and the food came out fast. I had the empire omelette and my hubby had the meat lovers skillet. We were both more than pleased with our food. It was hot, the portions were big (have leftovers) and it came out fast. It was my first time here. I was unsure of who my server was. I had one taking drink orders, one delivering the appetizer, and one delivering my food. The food was diner food, but still good, nonetheless. My brother ordered a kids burger with fries. The patty was super thin and the bun was huge. It didn't come with a drink. I stopped for breakfast to kill some time before an appointment. Service was great and food was perfect. Pancakes were light and fluffy and I'm glad I got the half order because they were filling. This nice little diner offers a variety of breakfast and lunch foods. I had their chicken and waffles breakfast; the waffle was strangley paired with bone-in chicken wings, though it was delicious! My wife had the Mexican omlette, her only complaint was the meat was bland. Otherwise, both meals were sufficient. Our waitress was great! Went here for breakfast the food wasn't bad but definitely not good enough to risk getting COVID. The entire time I was there the owner (or manager) was walking around the entire restaurant with his mask under his chin. On top of that I glanced through the window into the kitchen where the cook was making food with his mask dangling from one ear not on his face at all. Seeing how casually they break these health standards I wonder what other violations are going on in the kitchen that aren't as visible. This place is in my lunch rotation. Great food, homemade soups, and plenty of options for dinner and lunch items. Only gripe would be the price bump to "deluxe" your wrap or sandwich, but it's not a deal breaker. It seems odd to pay the same for a club wrap w fries and soup as it is a meatloaf dinner with more. Just ordered 3 empire omelettes. All of em came out consistently done well and tasted great. Good pricing and 20 mins for carry out on a busy Sunday was great. Considering that Sunday's are busier for breakfast. Definitely worth the price. Also going inside the restaurant saw that it looked clean and the cooks behind seemed like they were on their job. They have decent food but they never get orders right and when you try to mention it they won't do anything and look at you weird. They don't even apologize or offer anything. I went here and ordered a chicken pita, there was lint on every piece of chicken in my pita. The person I believe was the owner came over to apologize so I thought. However, he would not even let me get a word in and said the chicken came that way because it was frozen. My server was friendly and removed the food with no questions asked but he was extremely rude even in the tone he talked to the employees. Thats enough for me to never return! read more

Yelpers were right again. This place is everything they said. Good food, huge portions and attentive service. Wife and I came in for a Sunday breakfast before a day of errands. She had the Eggs Benedict and loved it. I had the corned beef hash based on our server's recommendation. She said it was homemade not canned. Boy, was she right. I was served a huge portion of rustic chopped potatoes, Green peppers, and corned beef and two poached eggs on the side. Wonderful! I've had this saved on yelp for some time now because of the reviews and I finally got to try it out!! Hubby and I ordered a carry out this morning. He had the signature sandwich and I had the standard special. We both ordered crepes as well. Banana and Nutella for my man, strawberry and cheese for me :D. We both were very satisfied with the quality of our food and the portions are big. I love how they make their hash browns, better than anywhere else I've tried. This is our new fave breakfast spot and it's only 10 minutes away, bonus!!! I'll have to come back for brunch options for sure!!!! Somewhat of a strange review, I know. This place is remarkably clean. From the tables to the silverware and through the restroom, a super clean diner- not something you could say very often. Beyond that, the food was considerably better than many of the other similar establishments in the area (coney islands, etc.) Anyway, will definitely come back, highly recommend. read more

I am officially going to eat here whenever I'm in Michigan, it's my go-to spot. The food is SO good, fresh, and made to order. Everything on the breakfast menu is a hit which is hard for me to say because I am a huge breakfast person. If you're not into breakfast they have an amazing tuna melt and patty melt that has my mouth watering just thinking about it. Its one of those places you end up eating everyone else's food too because you just have to try it. Everything is really clean too which is seemingly difficult to find in casual restaurant, but very appreciated. The owners came out to talk to greet us and were extremely friendly.
