BLUF - really good work, for a fair price, on very short notice. Had to take my truck in prior to a road trip. Called the shop about an hour and a half before they closed for the day to see if it could be serviced. Got the "how fast can you be here?" qualifier and booked it over there. Love the place from the start because you get to deal with two guys who look like they could fix just about anything. It's a no BS quote and everyone just gets things done. Was told to come back an hour later and the truck was fixed. I'll definitely be back and am glad I found them. Roger is a literal and metaphorical lifesaver. We're from Los Angeles and our car broke down on Christmas day (NIGHTMARE). With the help of my very handy dad, we managed to fix it well enough to get to my brother's place in Felton, but we had no confidence we'd be able to make it back to Los Angeles safely. I was supposed to be at work here in LA today, the 27th, so we really had to make the 6 hour drive on Monday the 26th. Of course, most repair places are closed, so we had to call around to try to find someone who might be able to look at the car. Roger's shop was closed on Monday, but luckily we managed to catch Roger in the office to check messages. Despite the fact that it was his day off, he agreed to take a look at the car if we brought it in right then. Roger put the car up on the lift and took a look. He quickly determined that my dad's quick repair job had fixed the problem we had seen (the heat shield was touching the brake disk) and that we didn't need to worry on that count. But he showed us something we hadn't seen: the bolt that attached the steering system had nearly come loose. (I may be getting some of the details wrong--unlike my dad, I'm not mechanically inclined.) If it had fallen out, we easily could have died on the car ride home. Roger described the issue in a clear and easily comprehensible manner, actually showing us the problem and explaining what it meant. Having seen with my own eyes that it would be unsafe to drive home, I asked Roger if he would be able to fix it on Tuesday the 27th. (I knew he was closed on the 26th, so I figured I'd just have to figure things out somehow with my workplace.) Because of the design of my 25 year old car, it was going to be a 2 hour job. But Roger, seeing the situation we were in, agreed to fix the car that day. The repair job was excellent: Roger even managed to manufacture a bolt so I didn't have to wait for the particular part to come in. (My dad said that most repair places would not have had the tools necessary to do that--we were lucky to come to one that did!) What's more, It would have been the easiest thing in the world for Roger to charge us a ton of money for the repair: I'm not knowledgeable about cars and we were desperate. But he charged us a fair--even cheap--price: easily a quarter to a third of what he could have gotten away with charging. Roger definitely saved Christmas. What's more, he probably saved our lives. I feel so grateful that we found Roger: I've never had a better experience with a mechanic. read more

I went to Roger after being quoted $300 for a front end brake job at Integrity Auto. Roger told me that not only was it unnecessary to do part of what Integrity want to charge me for, but quoted me $140 for the work. When I went to pick the car up he actually charged me less because the work didn't take as long as he quoted!! When have you ever been charged less at a mechanic?! I wouldn't have known, he could have billed me for the quoted amount. Needless to say I will only be taking my car to Roger from now on! read more

A little bit pricey mechanic, but worth the money. He does not look like the typical mechanic with the outfit. He wears a blue shirt and jeans for the most part, but hey I do not judge by looks. He told me he does this as a hobby. He is honest and friendly if of course you are friendly back. He changed my car oil and changed my battery. I found him on the interstate website because my car battery died. Unfortunately, he lives in Scott's Valley which is somewhat far from where I live because I would like to go and leave my car there and walk back to where I live. Let me start by saying that my typical mechanic experience is filled with trepidation and dread...it's not usually a pleasant experience. I'm slowly beginning to change my mind because of my recent experiences with Rogers Automotive. We've taken both our 2005 prius and 2003 rav4 to Rogers for a variety of tune ups, oil changes and other services. Each time Roger has been courteous and patient, explaining our options and giving honest advice. We're usually able to have our cars looked at within a few days of inquiry, and Roger has them all fixed up and ready to go the same day. I'm so grateful to have found Rogers automotive, although I can't say I'm looking forward to using the services again, as you can imagine...but, I'm sure glad to have found a mechanic that I can trust :) read more

The engine light of my '97 Ford Taurus came on as I was nearing the summit of Highway 17 -- probably the worst place it could have happened. I love my usual mechanic, but he's in Mountain View, and there was no way I was going to a) try to turn around on 17 or b) drive all the way back with my engine light on. My friend recommended Roger's in Scotts Valley to me, and I was happy with the service I got there. Roger was busy but squeezed me in. He gave me an accurate quote for checking out the issue, called me to let me know that he didn't find anything specifically wrong, and gave me his diagnostic sheets to take to my regular mechanic if the light came on again. He was also very understanding when I was running late to pick up my car past his closing time. Nothing went according to plan yesterday, but I'm so relieved that I was able to find an honest, helpful mechanic when I really needed one. If I lived closer, I'd come back for a full tune-up. I went to Yelp and Rogers clearly had the highest yelp review in SV so I made an appointment. My Prius 12 volt battery needed to be replaced and I had been quoted $450 by the dealership. Roger is an Interstate Platinum Battery Dealer thinking I would receive a higher level of service, I took my battery there to have it tested for replacement as it was less then 2 years old. He charged the battery for 2 hours ( which is 4 times longer than needed to test it ) and when I came back 2 hours later he said he didn't have that particular model in stock. When I suggested ( out of frustration ) that would be smart to check the stock before beginning this process and wasting time for both of us, his reply was "I don't have to take this from you, IDIOT!" Needless to say I was very put off and considered he became so defensive because he may have been misleading me about having the battery in stock, due to the fact it was a free full replacement with no charge to me and he would not make any money from this transaction. He failed in every respect as a representative of Interstate Batteries. I would give him 0 stars if it was an option. Avoid this shop and Roger is my advice. read more
