Went here for lunch on a quiet weekend. When you walk in there is no sign about seat yourself or "wait here", so you are lost your first time in. We caught the attention of one of the servers who told us to sit anywhere. Drinks were ordered and brought quickly. Several things on the menu seemed to be overpriced, mostly the appetizers. We decided on the Triple Play, which is the closest thing to a deal with potato skins, mozzarella sticks, and chicken fingers for $12. It took quite a while for this to come out, and then our food came out at almost the exact same time. We ordered a couple slices of cake to go. These were probably the best part of the meal. Who would think a bar would have such delicious cake!? My two complaints are about the high prices, especially for the appetizers, and the tipping policy. Prices might be better during their weekday happy hours where appetizers are 1/2 off. That would make them more reasonably priced. As for the tipping policy of adding 20% on to any bill regardless of party size, that seems a shame. To me it says they can give you any level of service and still walk away with a decent tip. To their credit, it was clearly stated on the menu. I didn't see the receipt, but I'm hoping they included that fact on there as well. The burgers are hand-formed patties and are decent sized, and are served with a generous portion of fries. Well, it's not exactly a dump; the place is pretty clean, decor is appropriate for the type of establishment with a large bar area, dining area and plenty of TVs on the walls for the sports enthusiast and lotto player. They claim to have the best crab pretzel in Baltimore...well, it was more like cream of crab soup scarcely ladled over a typical salted soft pretzel. The crab was fresh, but the pretzel did not taste fresh. Certainly not worth the $14 price tag. I also ordered a Golden Margarita, a beautiful drink to enjoy and one of my favorites...tequila, cointreau and Grand Marnier. Well, you'll need to enjoy it somewhere else. It was weak and watered down with way too much ice. Not worth the $10 price tag. ...And then there was the service. Our waitress was nice and friendly but she was totally unattentive. Took us at least 10 minutes to get a menu and although the drinks arrived pretty quickly, we weren't provided coasters or beverage napkins.The food arrived in a fair amount of time however, I sat and watched the server walk around with our food for a minute or two trying to figure out who it belonged to. I had to summons him to our table. Food came with no silverware (pretzel comes with a knife but you need a fork to eat it) or napkins. Took another 5 minutes to catch our waitresses attention to get the silverware and napkins. That was the last we saw of our waitress until we got our check and we waited at least 20 minutes after we ate to flag down the manager to ask our waitress for our check. We waited another 10-15 minutes for her to pick up payment and then another 10-15 minutes before my credit card was brought back to the table along with the receipt for signature. Terrible service, but it seems Wednesday night is Karaoke night so that kept us amused while we waited. read more

I went to Loafers for lunch. I sat at the bar. It was not that crowded. I sat at the bar for a solid ten minutes while the bar waitstaff lingered (loafed) around shooting the breeze with customers. Holy crap! The slowest service I have ever had. We ordered chicken wings and a steak. Chicken wings, unless you have to travel to Georgia to harvest the wings, bring them back and cook them. To reduce the fate of a joint like this to "1-star" status because of a bad server is akin to complaining that your Kia Rio didn't smoke a 5-Series BMW at the track. What were you expecting?!?! I used to go to Loafers (Rte 40) every other weekend. Its a great sports bar to watch the game. Lots of tvs. Food is so,so. Crabs are average (Corinthains crabs are better). The reason I stop going is the manager, I believe his name is Harold, he is a racist and rude. I have overheard him making several racist comments to other african american women. The place is right on the side of the road and impossible to miss. I visited on a Wednesday night when there was a dj playing mainly late 80's and early 90's slow jams.(I'm sure they schedule different themes on different nights and that's why all of the music was the same, but I feel like the dj should cater to the crowd more and see how they react to the music instead of just playing his set) The bar was completely full which means it was a good turnout. The place is huge so there are tables everywhere to choose from which allows you to decide if you want to be right in the mix or in the cut. For the most part my server was flawless. She was very friendly and quick to check to see if anything was ever needed. The wings and fries were great and the drinks were amazing! If you want a good buzz I recommend the strawberry henny. Stopped in to Loafer's after work on a Friday to get a birthday drink for a co-worker. The inside is pretty big with a large bar. Around the bar there are high-top tables but they also get served. In the bar area the wait staff did a good job getting to everyone and keeping your drinks full. The music was pretty loud in the bar area - but it was good music so we didn't mind! It could have been a little more distracting if we were there for a meal. They had decent happy hour discounts on drinks and food! The happy hour food specials seemed like your standard list of fried finger foods. Overall, it was close enough to work to be convenient for everyone, the beer was cold, and the music was good! My wife and I were long time fans of this restaurant and used to go here once a week. Over the last year (2014) their customer service has been awful. Most of their servers are not curtious and if you ask them for recommendations on drinks or food, they (every time) recommend the most expensive options. Four of the last six times we've gone there our food has taken more than 30 minutes for it to arrive, and it has, on several occasions been severed luke-warm or cold. I'm from outta town, so, MAYBE this is a biased review, but, here goes. Upon arrival I was charged five dollars. From what I observed and experienced, Loafers is a full-fledged RESTAURANT, not a bar--I am not really used to cover charges. I'm already spending money on drinks, so WHY TF am I being charged entry? ANYWAY! The dj was popping when I walked in, and I enjoyed the music videos actually playing along with the song. It is very difficult to have a conversation because the music is so loud, but, that's typical on a night out. Food is EXCELLENT! I expected nothing less, really. I ordered the linguine, and it was PERFECT, it even had a little spice, which was quite nice. Crab cakes weren't what I was expecting for Baltimore, so I was a little disappointed with that. The pretzel with crab and cheese is pretty popular here as an appetizer, I saw a lot of people getting that. My drink was pretty gross. It was supposed to be a strawberry lemonade cocktail, but it tasted like straight alcohol--even extra puree didn't help. The waitress was nice enough to replace my drink free of charge with another, which wasn't that great, either, but was drinkable. So the service was great! The environment is "ratchet", but, I don't see anything wrong with people having a good time. I don't see anything wrong with employees enjoying themselves, however, when it's pretty clear you're f******, maybe you should wait until your shift is over to be hugged up on one another. Finally, this establishment, like every other establishment in Baltimore, closes thirty minutes before the advertised closing time, something else I'm not used to but apparently is typical up there. They aren't nice about getting you out, either. Sucks for consumers who pay to have a good time. Decent food for sure. Very ghetto staff with unclean practices for food and drink servers. Nasty disappointment when the food itself is quite good. Wont do it again. Digging into their braids and scraping their scalps repeatedly as they wait around for your order to come out. Then seconds later, squeezing your lemons and other garnishes for food and drinks to be handed straight to you. Just pretty gross, but the expectation was not high when I arrived and saw the level of bar staff that was there...again. The wings here are awesome! I do wish they had a few more sauce choices, but they are cooked perfectly crunchy. I also like the peel and eat shrimp. The best part is the crabs! The price could be a little better (around $30 for a dozen), but they are delicious and worth it. Staff is really friendly. Bartenders are great. I also love to go to karaoke on Thursdays. There are lots of TVs so this is a good place to go for sports also. They do include gratuity on checks, but it's 15%, which I think is more than reasonable. Loafers looks like a decent place from the outside, but it's a different story inside. I don't know if I've gotten worse service at a restaurant before. There seems to be only 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant, who are both completely inattentive and uncaring. It took about 20 minutes for someone to take our order for drinks and then another 10 for her to bring the drinks and take our food order. Refills were slow to come, and tip was already included on the bill so they have no incentive to work hard. The restaurant is pretty large, although, I'm not sure if the bar area would be have enough seating if they had a really crowded night. I've only been there twice, both during the afternoon. The wait staff, were fairly friendly and attentive, however, it seemed like it took forever for the food to come. Even though my party was there at lunch time, there weren't many other patrons, and we didn't have any special requests, so I'm not sure why getting food took so long. It certainly wasn't because anything was piping hot. The food is okay pretty much what you'd expect for a sports bar. I've only been there for lunch, and the prices were reasonable, except: Unpleasant surprise.: automatic 15% gratuity for a takeout order!!! I didn't notice it until I was already at my destination. Thinking that this was a "fluke" and like an idiot, I went back again (party of two, dine in) Of course, again, the 15% was automatically added. For large parties, this is customary, but we ended up paying 35% . Be upfront and honest, BEFORE ordering (like placing your policy up at the front desk or on the menu. Loafers is what it is.. A nice, chill place to enjoy some bar food like wings, mozzarella sticks, and quesadilla's (chicken is exceptional). Good happy hour deals on food and drinks. Nice mixed crowd, 30+ typically, DJs on the weekends. Nice large TVs for watching games. Has updated urban and pop electronic juke/music machine, so you can rock Beyounce', Rhiannna, Michael Jackson, all the way to Phil Collins UB40, Adele, Marvin Gaye, Al Greene to Aerosmith. Well here it is again so other people don't make the same mistake we did: WARNING: Drove from Columbia to pick up a dozen steamed crabs for take out last Saturday afternoon, 7/10/16. "Large" males were $65.00/dozen. Better be good, right? NOT! These were the worst steamed crabs we've had in years...from anywhere! Out of the dozen, four were uneatable paper shells (meat and insides were gray) and one was obviously dead before it was steamed from the rank ammonia smell when opened. Never again. I've been to this place more times than I can count. Servers are usually pretty bad. Bartenders are obnixious. Food is usually pretty good. I like the atmosphere - sports bar. They do have really good specials and a free buffet on Fridays for HH. I think this place would be a lot better off with an entire new staff. Occasionally you will get a nice server, but I guarantee you they will be slow and keep you with an empty beer for way too long.
