Shame on me for waiting this long to write a review, but moving into a new house can take over your life with all the tasks and details to keep track of. That being said, my experience with Leman Woo at LoanDepot helped make the loan part of this move one of the easier parts of the process to deal with. The speed and accessibility on details of the transaction were so seamless. The portal and the technology they use to service their customers is up to date and fits in with my life. While in the application process, I provided the name of my wife's employer (the company and the Boss's name) and Young Kim at loanDepot responded "oh, I handled her refinance recently." My wife was also on the call and was horrified. Her boss was furious. We cancelled the relationship and I asked that they remove all of my information. Then the data breach. Years after I'd cancelled my application with them, they STILL HAD ALL OF MY PERSONAL DATA, including social security numbers. These were lost in a data breach. Of course they notified me about it, but they're only helping me with locking my credit history for 24 months, after that I have to pay about $120 per year to keep it locked, thanks to these morons. I filled in an online request to get information on refinancing. Before I was off the phone loan depot was already calling. And they havent stopped calling like every hour for the last two days (I called this morning and asked to be removed). The thing is, is that even if you answer the call....its automated so you then have to wait for a representative. Thats just downright rude. You want my business, you better be on that line when I pick up or Ill *ghost* your business. And then the calls....hundreds in just a couple days. They start at 6 am and dont stop until 10pm. Why any business thinks this is a professional is beyond me. I went with another broker who actually took the time to call me and be there when I picked up. read more

Worst customer service, before we signed anything we had some basic and detailed questions for our Rep Veronica which were sent to her 2 days ahead of our appointment time. Not only was she over an hour late with no explanation, she was unprepared, unprofessional, rude and told me she was driving, could not answer any of our questions or concerns. I immediately canceled the process, again before we signed anything or agreed too proceed. However it took a month and numerous emails to get our $1,000. Appraisal fee back (which was never done) and without our knowledge our homeowners insurance was changed to show Loan Depot as a payee!!!!! Terrible company no communication! read more

I started the loan process 9 weeks ago. I explained to them my employment history within the first 5 minutes. They asked for my credit card to charge me $20 for something, then the next day I saw a $500 charge for the inspection. I understood that the inspection could be avoided. I provided every document for 9 weeks this dragged on. Then I got an email. Loan declined. After 9 weeks interest rates on 30 year fixed went from 2.8% to 3.5% costing me hundreds of dollars every month. If he had only said no before waiting 9 weeks and chatting my credit card $500 for an appraisal I can't use this could have been avoided. Do yourself a favor and pick a different lender! read more

I submitted a request for a HELOC through Lending Tree. I was contacted by Dave Pollock from Loan Depot. After answering a bunch of his questions, he tells me he only offers a refinance or home equity loan product. He the wants me to explain WHY I want a HELOC. When he didn't like the answer he got, he hung up on me!!! Really? Never, ever, do business with this company. They could care less about their customers and they will hang up on you as thanks for inquiring about their product. read more

If you choose to use this lender, you better make for sure that they have all your homeowners insurance information! I received a letter from our homeowners insurance stating that our insurance has not been paid. We have an escrow account that is supposed to pay this. We apparently have not had insurance on our house for 2 months now!!!!!!! I have been on the phone with Loan Depot for well over 3 hours on two separate occasions. On hold for 30 minutes at a time only to be disconnected due to high call volume! When I was able to talk with someone, they told me that I had the wrong PO Box for the insurance payment! Apparently they have 1,000 different PO Boxes. The customer service is ridiculous! The guy I spoke to sounded high!! I wish we never went with them. I have owned 4 different houses and never had this problem! read more

STAY AWAY! I had an awful refinancing experience with LoanDepot. I got to them through Lending Tree (Stay Away, too, see below). I talked to one of the LoanDepot Lending officers (Brodey K.). I told him I am looking for a quote, and please do not check My Credit Score, He replied NOT NOW. He only asked for my address and DoB, and gave me a quote. Although, their rate was competitive but after I read online about them I decided to pass. A week later I received a 30-page application letter from LoanDepot. My credit report was attached! Yes, he hard pulled my credit score and initiated a refinance application under my nick name (not even full name). What was shocking to me, he knew my SSN and it was printed on all the papers!! I never ever gave it to him. 3 weeks later, I got a letter saying my loan application was declined because of insufficient credit information! The loan application that I never started!! I called LoanDepot, after several tries, they told me that you had agreed for your credit to be pulled when you used Lending Tree! I said, I told your agent to NOT pull my credit. They did not have anything to say. Obviously, they listened to my recorded conversation with their agent (Brodey K.) and had nothing to say but blaming Me and Lending Tree. I called Lending Tree, they said it is in our disclosure, when you use our web your agree our lenders will pull your credit! I said it was perhaps Buried somewhere, but never brought to my attention (such an important matter). Even if it was there I had told them to not do it (I worked with many other lenders and got a quote without having my credit checked, they were honest up front). Lending Tree still does not know how LoanDepot got my SSN, and will not take any action against LoanDepot, company that they refer people to them. I used to think if you do not provide your SSN, they cannot check your credit, I was wrong! Lending Tree and LoanDepot took no responsibility and asked me to work with credit bureau to dispute the issue! I ended up getting my refinance done with a large reputable bank with much better rate, transparency, and honesty. I thought to share my experience here in case someone else like me is out there and hopefully will not become a victim of these unethical and irresponsible companies. read more

The front end broker we use from Loan Depot is outstanding. We have used him three times and he and his team are the best. The back end, or loan servicing unit (they service our loan owned by JP Morgan) of Loan Depot is the worst. Not only did they insist on directing my loan payment to the wrong office, they screwed up my credit by reporting a lost/late payment to the correct office. What kind of an organization cannot even direct your mortgage payment properly. When I queried a supervisor, she insisted they were right and I was wrong. Eventually they sorted out their mistake. Now I have to monitor my credit reports to ensure the mistakes have been corrected. Then on top of this they have called me three times and contacted me twice by email because they want to apologize....that is a blatant insincere waste of more time. Their callers have poor connections and don't even know who they are calling until you say hello several times...then a pause while they call up your record. They then demand you identify yourself. REALLY! Forget it...just do your job right in the first place. BIG HEADACHE! read more

This has been a terrible experience. After initially being told everything looked good, things moved forward well. I paid for an appraisal, and my rate was locked. Loan Depot asked for more documents that I thought necessary, including a full copy of my divorce decree to show my ex had no ownership of my house, even after I submitted a fully executed quit claim deed that showed that. The process dragged out over a month. My rate lock was going to expire so I checked in and was told it had been extended..so not to worry. Then I checked in to see how things were going because we were getting close to the new rate lock date and was told my loan had been closed. I had no notification of this prior to my checking in. I am so frustrated and disgusted with this whole process. My loan was allegedly denied for insufficient income. I had provided the last 2 years W-2's as well as a month's worth of pay stubs within 4 days of day 1 of this whole process. If income was an issue, it shouldn't have dragged out for over a month. Now the rates are up, and all I have is a hard inquiry on my credit for nothing. I've got a credit score near 800. I never make late payments on my mortgage. My income is over $50k a year. This isn't enough for a $109k loan? I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never use Loan Depot. read more

I have to say, our escrow experience was the absolute worse in customer service. I get that escrow is a naturally stressful experience, we have bought and sold numerous homes. Alberto just made this experience the absolute worse. I am not sure if he doesn't know how to do his job or if Loan Depot has "too many cooks in the kitchen". We received mixed communication and mixed messages throughout the entire escrow process and thus I will never use Loan Depot again, due to Alberto and this experience, they have lost me as a customer for life. After the close of escrow Noah, Alberto's manager, finally called me and we had a fantastic conversation in which he engaged in genuine customer feedback in order to improve their operations. I truly hope that Noah takes this insight back to the team and hopefully they can improve their internal and external communications. read more

Got a promotional email of 1 % discount if I lock today. Talked to the loan officer who told me today's rate is 3.25% and she is waiting for approval to give me the additional discount to bring the rate down to 2.25%. I get the final offer and the rate is only down by 0.25%. Apparently there was already discount baked in the 3.25%. What this tells me is that they jack up the rate and then offer the discount . Dishonest business practice to say the least. read more

Once I filled in the info, they ran my credit (without a box to check to consent), I received a call from the first operator - ZERO personality. He then asked me if I had time to talk to the loan officer. I said yes and then she came on. Was sarcastic, too comfortable with someone who was a potential customer and at the end said they could not help me and she said in a far too casual manner "You're stuck." You don't know me enough to speak to me in that manner and never again will I ever consider you for my re-fi needs. Buyer beware. Please do not do anything with loandepot. I submitted for a refinance on my existing loan. With a credit score of over 800, i assumed this process was going to be pretty fast. In the span of 45 days, two loan officers came and quit. After greater than 45 days waiting and many phone calls to their top leadership, i kept getting the run around and yes a third loan officer trying to figure out where the last person left off only to be told that i would need to transfer title to my name rather than my business name and that I would have to do this at additional cost to me. This company acts like they are all about customer service but they are not. In addition, i was asked to provide my own payoff by the second loan officer at a cost to expedite thinking we were going to close only to find out that the payoff date came and went with no closure and yes no communication. I found out from the third an final loan officer that i indeed did not need to pay to expedite nor request a payoff. Ughhhh. I started process on Sept 1 with loan lock on Sept 30 and today Nov 24 have canceled this transaction for their incompetency. read more

Honestly, we refinanced our home and now we have our home mortgaged through Loan Depot. Ever since they purchased our mortgage it is has been a literal hell. The customer service people are incredibly rude and condescending. They seem to not really not have their crap together. Their systems of collecting money is severely outdated and inconvenient. We have had to call them multiple times a month since our home got sold to them and it has been a nightmare Every time except for once. Wishing we could refinance with someone else. Every time I have to call their number I have to say a prayer for strength. This business obviously does not care about their customers, the communication skills are severely lacking- we find out many things that could be helpful to us after they are relevant.. I used Loandepot 3 years ago to close our construction loan and had great service. Flip to 2021 when I refinanced and they were absolutely HORRIBLE. If I could go back I would have NEVER done this. They couldn't communicate with each other, couldn't get the right documents completed it drug on forever. FINALLY made it to closing day- wrong names on documents. EVERYTHING WRONG. Then, took 2 weeks to fund the loan, because no one knew what was happening. Jump to 2022 trying to get a loan and cannot bc they never filed the release of lien with the county and NO ONE will help get this document. I have begged for 3+ weeks! Still no response- automated Service portal that continues to request the wrong document. Literally, use ANYONE but Loandepot! read more

Loan Depot told us we were approved. Then about 2 weeks before closing asked us for a document that did not and could not exist. Our accountant wrote them and explained why it did not and could not exist. They then told us we would never get a loan without providing this document. We have had two such loans in the last 3 years and no one has even asked for it because we provided all the information in which such a document would be constructed in a different kind of organization. We provided every shred of information available. We were forced to go to another lender just 2 weeks before closing. Today is the first day of working with a new lender. They have no problem with it at all. It looks like the sellers are going to be patient and kind by moving back the closing date but we very well could have lost the house because of Loan Depot. We make about 9/10 of our loan amount in a year. Our credit rating is above 800. We have little debt. The loan is for 80% of the value of the house. Our accountant is aghast they did this. If they are this unfamiliar with a common business entity like my wife's it is scary that they are in the loan business. In short, I find Loan Depot to be highly unethical and ignorant of a commonly used business practice. I certainly will never do business with Loan Depot. The real estate agents involved in this sale will be telling clients to avoid Loand Depot after this and the sellers are equally upset as us​. Pretty sure anyone familiar with this purchase will never work with Loan Depot. I will say that the lead person was personable but it all seemed like he was hamstrung by people in the background that obviously knew little or too were hamstrung by idiotic rules made with a lack of knowledge​. I imagine that if nothing out of the ordinary were to happen people might be quite happy with them. Just know walking in that if it is outside of the ordinary these guys have no problem with ethics as they don't​ seem to have them. Submarining a loan at the last minute after approving us is beyond the pale. At least the new lenders are happy. They only needed about an hour to look at everything and tell us they did not need or want the document Loan Depot insisted on. read more

Do yourself a favor- go to a real bank! My loan has been in place for 3 years now. After being told "everything is approved and ok" by their Orange County origination staff, closing the loan was like pulling teeth. I would have minded less if LD was focused on substance, but they were focused on form- always looking for belts and suspenders. It felt like you were dealing with someone's tedious great grandmother. We were recently effected by the wildfires and the insurance check was made out to LD and me, so now resides with their insurance staff in SC. That group of staff is pitiful. It is like talking to voice recognition software, when you and the software are on two different pages. Worse, the entire process is tedious and cumbersome and oriented to reining in the "cheating borrower", i.e. me. Most staff can only read canned blurbs in response to questions, which would be fine if they had understood the question and were reading the right blurb, but they didn't understand the question at go. The company has tried to dumb down each step of the process such that low level staff handle everything. Thus there is never anyone that understands the big picture to talk to. If you finance with LD you will receive annoying phone calls from telemarketers asking you to refinance. When I asked one what today's rate was, she replied "I can't tell you until you give me your social security number and annual income." What?? In short, I have no confidence in LD and recommend against using them. At some point in the process, they will drive you crazy. read more

Do not refinance with Loan Depot. The process itself of refinancing was pretty quick and painless, until I went to make my first payment. I went online to set up my payment method about 2 weeks before my due date to ensure things would go smoothly on the 1st. When I logged into the website, it was showing that my payment was about $300 more than I had signed for. When investigating the discrepancy, I realized it was because they put my property taxes in for FIVE YEARS worth of taxes into one. Because I had so much time to get it fixed, I wasn't too worried. I called customer service and thus began a literal nightmare. The first 5 or 6 customer service agents I spoke with didn't acknowledge that they had made an error. Finally when I spoke to someone competent, they saw and acknowledged the error and told me that it would be fixed by 2/3 (due date is 2/1 with a 16 day grace period). Come 2/8, it wasn't fixed. I once again called, waited on hold for about 45 minutes, to be told that it would be fixed by 2/12. You guessed it! Come 2/12, it's not fixed. The next incompetent agent told me it would be fixed by 2/16- how convenient- the last day of the grace period! Not wanting my credit score to be impacted, I paid the incorrect amount today and am seething in anger. Please, save yourself the frustration and do not refinance with Loan Depot. read more
