It's a cool spot that is great for people watching, and it definitely has that old hotel in the South feel (though updated and more modern). The drinks don't really change but are unique enough, and they are pretty boozy without being so outrageously overpriced. Service is hit or miss but more hit than not. They even do bar snacks still. Our first round we had an old fashioned and the summer gin cocktail (seasonal) and added the duck floaties bc why not? The piano music and the whole atmosphere was honestly wonderful. We decided to stay for a second drink and watch all the people come and go for a little longer. My bf switched to a Manhattan for his second round and enjoyed that one a little more. We enjoyed drinks in the Lobby Bar At The Peabody to kill some time before the duck march ceremony. The drinks came with a cute rubber duck in them, which was fun. We shared a lounge table with another couple as it was very busy right before 'duck time'. The waitress was a little stretched between tables. As for the Duck March... 'An overrated tourist trap' is how I would describe the Peabody Ducks experience! Still, it's a unique 'Memphis' experience and something us tourists must do! By the time we were finished with our drinks, we made our way to the balcony overlooking the lobby, where we squished in between other onlookers for an average view. After some pomp and circumstance favoring the small children seated near the elevator and fountain, the ducks marched out of the fountain and into the elevator, on their way up to their 'house' on the roof of the hotel. Afterwards, we made our way to the roof to see where the ducks live and for views over Memphis. All the elevators were pretty clogged after the ceremony, so it took us some time to get up there, at which point we only had a few minutes on the roof as it was going to be closing. The views are worth going up there. On retrospect, I wish we'd gone to the morning ceremony where the ducks march INTO the fountain and the light on the roof was better. If you're tight on time in Memphis, you could skip the duck march experience. We did however, enjoy our drinks at the lobby bar and generally wandering the hotel and gift shops. Helpful? read more

This is an absolutely charming spot to kick back and enjoy a drink or a snack. As the name suggests, it's smack in the middle of the hotel lobby which is gorgeous. Speaking of families, if you're interested in seeing the march of the Peabody ducks, you should grab a table about an hour before their forced marches (11:00 a.m. and 5 p.m.). The lobby will be filled with children during those times so grab a table on advance, if you can. They offer a few desserts here but primarily cocktails and they are well-made but pricey. You also get a complimentary snack tray with almonds and wasabi peas. Jack Daniels is featured prominently on the drink menu and they even offer a Jack Daniels flight (which I recommend). Don't forget to explore the gift shops and second floor of the hotel while you're there. It's a historic spot and very interesting. You can also go on the roof and check out the ducks' home. Wow, poor service traded between multiple waitresses before we ordered. Forgot 1/2 our order , substandard service because we are people of color. Other customers got complimentary snacks none for our table of four. We watched other tables receive better service and couldn't believe how blatant the disregard was. The blonde Eastern European waitress seemed incompetent? So we got traded to another waitress that "wasn't our server" Our waitress disappeared for the remainder of our stay. it's hard to discern between incompetence and malicious behavior. Last night we order drinks in the evening after waiting for (perhaps) 30 minutes. Our waitress did come by (someone else took our drink order and delivered them) to apologize for the wait. We were patient despite people sitting down long after us and being taken care of by other staff members. I appreciated the acknowledgment. The drinks (an adult hot chocolate and mint julep) were delicious. Today I decided to have a soda and hummus after checking out of my room. The waitress came by after about twenty minutes and brought me my soda after another twenty minutes, followed shortly by lack-luster hummus with no utensils. The pita bread was stale like it had been left out overnight. The waitress wasn't friendly, and I never saw her again, so I left my money on the table after waiting quite a while. Again: I suspect the pandemic has created a strain in hospitality as a whole (combined with my sheer bad luck?). Will I come here again? Of course I will! It's the Peabody lobby for Pete's sake. I have had a lot of Old Fashioneds. Lots. We scored two seats at the bar in the lobby of the Peabody right after the 5:00 duck march. I regret not recalling our bartenders name, but he was fantastic (management if you are reading this he was serving at 5:00 on Friday June 24th). I ordered and Old Fashioned and he asked what whiskey I would like, I asked what he suggested, "Jack Daniels Peabody Select, it is a single barrel." I took his selection. He proceeded to make my wife and I the perfect Old Fashioned, muddled cherries and oranges to release all the flavors, but not turn them into mush, a double shot pour of the Peabody Select and a splash of soda. This is a beautiful bar located in The Peabody hotel. My husband and I spent about 2 and half hours at this bar. We enjoyed the drinks and scenery. The reason we were here so long was of course to see the ducks. It was definitely worth it. We got a perfect seat at the bar right in front of the fountain. We watched the ducks swim until the Duck Master finally came out with the red carpet to escort them to the elevator. It's quite a little show. Much bigger than I expected. They do a great job preventing people from standing around the fountain and obstructing the view of those sitting, so if you think you're going to show up late and just stand to watch the ducks, not a chance. Coming early, about an hour at least is worth it. Paying the high price for the drinks to have a great seat to see the ducks is also worth it. The drink menu is huge and anything not listed they can pretty much make as well. It helped that we had an awesome bartender as well. read more

It's so beautiful here. Especially when it's decorated for Christmas. I spent more time here than I probably should have. Tired the night we arrived, it was still bustling at 11 PM. I had a nightcap and the cutest complementary tray of bar snacks. So old time elegant all around. Headed down in the morning to secure seating for the duck parade, and had a Chocolate Covered Berry coffee drink that was to die for. Lovely sipping...so good I ordered a second before my son showed up with a bottle of champagne. His girlfriend tried it and said "so good but so rich you couldn't drink two." LOL...I just did. I don't often use the phrase, "pomp and circumstance," but there certainly is a lot surrounding these ducks. Over an hour before they march up and down the red carpet, folks gather in and around the lobby and up on the mezzanine to secure a decent vantage point to watch these fowl birds do their thing. It is extremely anti-climactic. It's a few ducks walking in a line. I almost feel bad that I elbowed a septuagenarian in the face in order to snap a better photo, but believe me, she had it coming. Anyway, aside from the ducks, this hotel is amazing. It's obviously gorgeous (the centerpiece of the fountain is stunning), but it's also got so much history, so many good stories behind it, and tons of cool artifacts displayed around the area. While everyone is waiting on the ducks, wander around the mezzanine and check out the house phones, that cash register in the case, the art, the piano, and everything else. The Peabody should be on anyone's must-try list for Memphis. And even if you don't get the opportunity to stay in the hotel, you need to check out the Lobby Bar and the Corner Bar. My fiance and I went to the Lobby Bar just looking for a casual but classy atmosphere for great cocktails, and that's exact what we found. We ordered the pineapple martini and the G&Tea. Both were terrific cocktails with great balance and taste. Aside from the drinks, it's really the atmosphere that we loved most- being in a classy environment, but being able to just chill on one of the couches and people watch, take in the architecture, and listen to the piano man.
