Nice selection, lots of unique choices. Most staff friendly and helpful. One scrawny miserable cashier but otherwise good.

I have had a really bad day with restaurants and stores. This was the straw that broke the camels back. Every time I'm at this store I get disappointed. Prices and selection and rewards are just not right. I don't feel as though they actually care about the customer being happy. That's what they save for the commercials. read more

Why do they think customers can carry a bag of 8 cans in one bag? i am willing to pay for bags. I tell them that at the beginning. I also carry my own bags. I always ask them to distribute the weight . Yet, I end up with a mess. I once had to chase my cans under another persons car. The bag had tears in it. I have told customer service about this 3 times. Do they not train their young staff on how to bag? Maybe it is time. This has been 3 years for me , with the same problem. Where is the common sense with this. I guess they just do not care. read more

In my eyes, Loblaws is the poor mans Whole Foods. I've been there roughly 10-15 times since they've opened, and have had more bad experiences than good. My first time there was around 11:00 am and I was picking up some lunch for my wife and I. I literally stood in front of the hot food case for 30 minutes. I could see they weren't completely set up, but to not even acknowledge my presence for 30 minutes is a bit much. I could have said something, but I wasn't in a rush and I wanted to see how long it would take. Even though they didn't have everything ready, I made my order anyway and proceeded home. The food was really bad. I had meatloaf with mashed potato and garlic spinach. The potatoes were really gluey (almost like a powdered potato), the spinach was REALLY salty and the meatloaf was over the top dry. My wife had chicken, and it was over cooked to the point of being almost inedible. It seems as though they've hired cheap labor who don't have any experience cooking. The next time I went there I picked up a container of cooked beets from the hot food section as I needed a quick vegetable to go with my dinner that night. The beets were completely raw. I ended up having to cook them myself......so my quick side dish wasn't so quick after all. On three separate occasions I arrived at the till with groceries in tow, only to find out the item I thought was on sale, was not on sale at all. First time was a ham, the price above it said 10.00, but the actual price was 25.00. When I asked customer service what was going on, she laughed at me and said "No way you'll ever find a ham that cheap." She then went to check and informed me that that price was for a different ham that was sold out. The second time it happened has escaped my memory, but the third incident leads me to believe that perhaps they're doing this on purpose? Big bags of precooked shrimp were underneath a sign that said 5.99 (one of their sale signs). Score, we needed a protein for salad at home, so I grabbed 2. Of course I get to the till, and the actual price was 17.99. I go back and the 5.99 sign was for tartar sauce that was above and to the right of the shrimp. There were NO signs for the price of the shrimp, other than the 5.99 sign (which was directly above the shrimp). Unfortunately I just don't have many good things to say about this store. I have had many bad experiences, and no really good ones that stand out. I will say that it seems some of the employees are willing to go the extra mile, I did ask once to have them make a sandwich for me with different bread than they were offering. I'll give them that. Yes Whole Foods is expensive, but when you think about the service you are getting and the quality, it ends up being worth it. Until we get that new WF on 13th, I and my family will be driving out to West Van. read more

Bright modern supermarket. Very clean. Staff are friendly and produce is fresh. Good variety. Lots of president's choice items. Parking is six dollars but you will get it validated if you spend over twenty dollars. Open late (11pm). Great hot food section. Not the cheapest market but prices are fair. read more

Went to the store on 17th and Lonsdale a few weeks ago and one of the things on my list was cilantro. The cilantro they had out was dead! Leaves were dried out, brown and limp. Not one single bunch had any green on it whatsoever. I asked the produce guy why they had it out and he said that's what they had in the back. They were selling this at $1.99 a bunch. I went down the street and got a fresh bunch of cilantro for $.50. Wouldn't ever go there to buy any produce again! read more

We waited for a long time to get our supermarket back and what we got was a fancy food store where you go in to pick up a few items. Notice that everyone there has a basket and not a trollie ? That's because we still have to go elsewhere to do our "big shop" even though this is our neighbourhood store. It's a beautiful store but nothing like the store it replaced. Believe it or not we're not all wealthy because we live in North Van. Give us a break will you. read more

Great Store but the parking renders it impossible. This is the second grocery store in North Vancouver to charge for parking. That's ok because you can get it redeemed. Trouble is that the lot is so badly designed and the pay machine poorly placed on a steep exit slope that most people cannot reach it or even understand how it works. The result is very very long lineups to get out. Want to buy a few groceries quickly? Trust me, you can drive for miles to somewhere else and it will be quicker than shopping at this place. read more

I went to Citymarket today to buy a few item. When I was in the bread section, I saw a HUGE rat disappear under the shelves. I alerted the manager, a fellow by the name of Cam, who disdainfully listened and told me they knew about this and were trying to resolve their "pest" problems as soon as possible. Yuk! How long has this been going on? I'm not setting foot there ever again. read more

Loblaws on Lonsdale has quickly become my favourite place to shop for groceries. You walk in and you are immediately hit with the wow factor. It's always very clean, which is a huge plus, the produce is always fresh and they seem to focus on providing healthy local goods which is a huge plus for me as well. The only downside is the underground parking, which is a little complicated, but its obvious that the locals that visit the store walk to it, rather than drive there, so I dont think its much of a concern for most. read more

Yes I am a Loblaws fan. I have been so for years as I spent many years in Ontario. I am glad the brand has returned to the west. The Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Extra Foods are fine but have never replicated the presentation, marketing and experience held for a 'Loblaw's' branded market. Shopping at Loblaws is an experience that is extremely different. While very much smaller than it's Ontario counterparts, City Market in North Vancouver replicated some of the shopping experience of the full scale Loblaws markets. Indeed the market and habits for grocery shopping are not the same between Toronto and Vancouver but hopefully Loblaws in the future will take up the slack with the loss of Safeway. (Sobey Stores don't even make the mark!) I believe consumers will be severely disappointed following Sobey's taking over Safeway. Now is the opportunity for Loblaws to shine. read more

I really wanted to like this store too but I have been doing my weekly shopping here since they opened and have had too many bad experiences. More than a few times I have come home to find that products I purchased were expired - cream cheese, 7 superfood salad, green peppers, spinach dip and orange juice. The first few times I returned the products but the last time I didn't get around to it so I was just out the money. The idea of rotating product and checking expiry dates should be what operating a supermarket is all about. I won't be returning and don't recommend this place to anyone, it isn't worth the risk. read more

Too bad the management is very prejudice. We live in multicultural country and that's a beauty of Canada. Don't put people in management to run the store if they are not aware how to treat customers right. The assistant store manager is awful and rude. read more

The store looks nice, but the selection is poor, and the prices are high. I'd rather go to IGA than here and that's saying something.

It's a great place new store very clean and employees with different uniform in any department but we had a funny experience the first time we were there. When we proceeded to check out a Persian lady was talking with the cashier in their own language and after cashier greeted us she was continuing talking and when the cashier signaled her slightly she stopped. Then my husband who is Persian too told them these sausages are 99Cents and very good deal, the cashier told it's awesome but the bagger replied they are almost expired we got shocked as we already known they'll get expired in one day but we wanted to put the extra in freezer. We don't remember her name but she had long dark root hair with blonde sun-light from middle to bottom and she couldn't speak English well. Afterwards my husband told me do you know what they were talking about when we disturbed ? and he told bagger was telling "I should be crazy to shop here is so expensive" We expect Loblaws such a well-known Company to select loyal employees at least who care about the place they work read more

Went to this store today for the first time. It is a very nice big store with lots of good things. The people who work there are mostly friendly and helpful most of the time. However with some I would say some training is in order. There are some who are harder working than others. I decided to take my grocerys to the customer service desk to pay because they will let you pay for 8 items and I had 4. I was behind 3 people. This was a mistake because there was a lady that decided she could take 14 things. People should know this is wrong. Plus someone was being trained so it was slow. The clerk tried to explain they only do small order and she could go to express where they will let you pay for 16 items and there were two cashiers there. Well this customer just went ugly and abusive to the clerk. The clerk stayed calm and said ok and began the order. But then the phone rang and they had to answer it and this made things slower. In the end the person training made a mistake so they had to find it. After this a person wanted to buy lottery ticket and had some cans to return and then another phone call. I finally left the line and went to a regular cashier because it was faster. I learned that a customer service counter should be for customer service only and that you should take your grocerys to a regular cashier. Some people dont like rules. This is wrong and not very nice for other customers in line up who follow rules. I will go back to this store. read more

To begin with this place has undergone some kind of a transformation - it is the very Pygmalion of provision providers - going from being a low-slung eye hurting yellow to a lofty and elite upscale joint. I am writing most specifically about their hot food/deli which they wisely place right at the entrance. Such very attractive food! - I don't live in NV anymore but today but I made good on a promise to myself to get something that I had noticed that looked especially good back there. I'd forgotten what it was but two items stood out right away - their mac and cheese and their scalloped potatoes (both very affordable it turned out) - here would be an ultra rare instance when supermarket deli food tasted as good as it looked - alternately the best mac and cheese and the best scalloped potatoes i have ever had! - (or pretty damn close to) the only thing I added was sea salt and non-irradiated fresh ground pepper - magnifico!! read more
