As part of our donut crawl, we stopped at Harmony. It was definitely hidden if you aren't looking out for it as it's hidden next to Starbucks. The place is small, with one lady making donuts, another at the register. No seating available. Now to the donuts, we got one peanut maple donut to try and a dozen for home. We also got plain and cinnamon sugar. We were able to package them in air tight containers and take them home to Texas. The maple peanut was a delicious donut however I don't know if I'd say it's number one. It wasn't anything special to me--same with the other donuts. They're small but good to split if you just want a taste. I think there are definitely better in Vancouver but nonetheless, I'm glad we tried it! read more

One more north van spot that if you grew up here you know for sure and if not you probably have no idea. Harmony donuts is an absolute north van staple and has been for 30 odd years. I'll go on record sayig these are the best donuts in BC hands down! If you go early enough you can pick up a dozen for 15$ and they will still be hot. The cake base is nothing short of magical and then choose your toppers as you wish. My personal favourite is the pink with sprinklers. Store owners are delightful and the shop is filled with what I'm sure is a small fortune of collectibles and figurines from all ages. Give them a go if you haven't yet! Mange! read more

Donut place near Upper Lonsdale that doesn't break the wallet. The donuts taste homemade. Amazing. There are so many flavours. Something for everybody. The donuts are so pretty and colourful. They almost look like something out of a cartoon. The donuts are of the denser cake variety. Quite heavy. Honestly I'm surprised they're so inexpensive. They only cost a bit more than Tim Hortons (and are quite a bit tastier), and are way cheaper than other places such as Cartems. Highly recommended. read more

Utterly delicious donuts! I can't believe it took me so long to know about this place and then finally making the trek to try it. First off, it can be hard to find this place even though it is right on Lonsdale. It is a "blink and you will miss it" situation when driving. Look for Starbucks instead, it is right next to it. Lonsdale and Queens or 29. There are two tiny parking spots out front but it is best to park at the rear or on side street. It is a grab and go place since only ONE customer is allowed in at a time. There is no menu. The prices are posted on the door. The donuts are actually displayed at the side of the entrance door but I never noticed till I got in and got confused. The owner (?) or shop staff was very helpful when I mentioned it was my first visit and asked for recommendations. I decided to try one each of the flavors available. 6 for $7, I think that is cheaper than Tim hortons? Definitely taste better. The donuts are the old school type. More cake like rather than the brioche or bready type. Not the soft like air Krispy Kreme type. They are so good. Fluffy inside like a cake but with a light crisp outside. The frosting is thin with your choice of topping (nuts, coconut, sprinkles) or plain. They are small, but that means I can have two in one sitting without feeling too full. They did get a bit soft the next day and I kept them in an airtight container. Solution? Eat them all on the day you bought. I will definitely be back to try the non fancy donuts. I lined up for about 10min on a weekend Came in and the ladies were not very friendly nor welcoming I mentioned it was my first time checking them out and asked what they have. The staff pointed to the try and said 'whatever is on the tray' So I found the tiny sign (menu) near the cashier and just picked the one with almonds and one with peanut The staff weren't very helpful. The donuts were fresh from the fryer and pretty well priced. They don't taste super special so I'm not in a huge hurry to come back either. read more

Harmony donuts is a hole in the wall donut shop located near Lonsdale. It's easy to miss but they have a huge sign outside now so you'll know where to turn in. The shop interior is small so it isn't a place that you can sit down and have your donuts but the line is pretty quick. They have an assortment of donuts to choose from in the window but they aren't labeled so you'll have to ask if you want to know flavour details. They are located in Upper Lonsdale. It is really easy to miss as they are part of building that doesn't have a lot of signage and you can't slow down in front as there's no parking on the street in front. There is a small parking lot in the back, but to get to it, there is a small alley entrance which can only fit one vehicle. You can go around and come up the alley from behind Starbucks, where you turn right towards Lonsdale. They have a variety of flavors, and I wish they had some signage as to what each flavor is. The donuts are all by the front window, in the light and there is just enough room for one customer to look at the donuts and pay. They only take cash or debit. If they had signage/labels of the flavors, the line may go faster as customers wouldn't need to ask what flavor is each. Also each tray will have random flavored donuts, each flavor isn't together. I always saw long lines out of this place and wondered what the big deal is. Finally went and found out, and boy was I glad I did! Usually donut places either have good dough, or they have great toppings. This place has both! The outside is very crispy, yet the inside is soft. The toppings not only taste great but the frosting is light, unlike many places that put too much or make the frosting too crunch or hard. The prices are hard to beat too. The place looks a bit like a dive, though I'm sure during a non pandemic it would be a charming spot for a bite. The donuts have a slight crisp to it and come in a variety of colorful toppings, making it a fun treat to bring home. It's worth noting they only take cash or debit and with everything going on, the limit is one customer inside at a time. I found this donut shop on of course Yelp. I read the previous reviews and immediately decided we must go there. Nothing could have prepared me to what I what I walked in on. Every review seemed to neglect that not only was I walking into a place that makes donuts but a time capsule for all things vintage. The walls are covered with old school hot wheels cars still in their original packaging, the ceiling has posters of Marilyn Monroe, an ancient Vespa scooter in the shop. As my boyfriend describes it as an, "eclectic mix of curios of Knick knacks and such." It's truly a sight to see. On the donuts: There are two lovely women running the shop. One makes the donuts using a mini small donut machine. From the looks very time consuming and a lot of work. They aware constantly churning them out. I feel there is never a time when you could not get a warm hot donut like we did - the turnover is high. Costs $5.50 for half a dozen which I think is more than fair. The donuts are light and airy, crisp on the outside. There seems to be an over abundance of donuts with sprinkles but you can get them with almonds, glazed maple, glazed chocolate etc. Parking there can be a little on the difficult side. There are a few spots right out front of the shop. I must point out if you blink you'll miss the shop it's tiny and a little hard to see from the street. These donuts look delightful- the box is a sprinkled explosion of colour. Even though the donut bases here are all plain cake donuts, the icing is flavourful enough to make each donut stand out. My personal favourites were the orange and lemon ones. The strawberry one tasted a little bit too artificial for me but others might like it. The outside is crispier and the inside is fluffier than other donuts that I have tried, so overall I enjoyed them. They go very well with a hot cup of tea or coffee. BEST DONUTS I've had in Vancouver so far - and I've tried my fair share of them! It may have been so good since my first visit there was not long after the donuts were made (still fresh ooey gooey and warm). In any case, I was VERY impressed! Atmosphere: It was tricky trying to find this place since it was a bit hidden and even when we entered, we weren't sure if we were in the right place! At first we thought we were in an antique shop.. but once you turn right, you see the donut deliciousness. It's a small store. Service: Great! The lady who helped us was very nice and explained the donuts - ie the base donut flavours and that the unique flavours of each donut came from the toppings/ icings added. I was also shocked at how inexpensive the donuts were - about $1.25 (WAY cheaper than the $3-4 donuts I'm used to for not as great quality food that you'd get at the other popular donut places in Vancouver). Food: YUMMMMM! I got the chocolate coconut, my partner got the vanilla with maple glaze. It was soft on the inside, with a crunchy exterior, but the topping MADE the donut. I liked that it wasn't super sweet but still had a decadence about it. I wish this place wasn't soo far away, tucked in North Van. But I'll be making more trips out there just for Harmony! read more

These little donuts are incredibly cheap and astronomically delicious! Best bang for your buck anywhere! The store is a lot of fun, the walls are insane with collectibles. The ladies working (on the Saturdays I usually go) are always friendly and fun! Because they undercharge for their product, I always make sure to tip... they are always working so hard trying to keep up with demand! What I've learned: Call ahead for orders over 3 dozen, especially if you are picky about what kinds. They close at 4, but sometimes run out sooner, so call first if it's after 3. This is a very small shop just north of the highway on Lonsdale, but they make some of best doughnuts around. Their style is more on the cake-y side, but the doughnuts are moist and the frosting is deelish. You even have a choice of sprinkles! These are the doughnuts you want to buy your friends when they're helping you move for the third time in a row. I also love going here for the campy atmosphere. The owners have decorated it with an eclectic collection of stuff that includes vintage action figures and toys. It's sort of dark for actually eating in, but the decor really personalizes the shop. Visit #1, Sunday @ 8:30am: they are closed. Who ever heard of a donut shop closed on a Sunday morning?! I think this may actually be against the law. Visit #2, this time Saturday morning (and I called first): Crazytown. toys still in blisterpacks tacked to the walls. This place looks way too much like the inside of my head. It took a moment to find the counter - off to the right in another room, I think - as well as the donuts. A really nice and only slightly scary lady asks what I want, pointing to the 30 or so donuts on display in the window. Here we have proof that I am in Crazytown. Of the 30 donuts waiting, there are at least 25 different kinds. Different glazes, different kinds of sprinkles, different nuts, coconut.... My theory is that the little voices tell her how to decorate each donut. I look, stunned at this psychotic display, and whisper that I'd like a dozen. She gleefully boxes 12, charges $9 (cash only) and I head home. Fantastic donuts, these. Small donuts, really nice cake with really nice glazes! Not greasy!
