I am absolutely astounded that this place is not more popular. The food, the drinks, the staff, the atmosphere, and overall vibe of this restaurant was amazing. We were only in Toronto for 2 days, but we enjoyed this place so much that we decided to eat here twice. Our head server, Kayla, and manager, Kamala, were masters at creating a world-class dining experience. We visited on a Friday and Saturday night with a party of four, no reservation, and were seated immediately. Highly recommend ordering the muscles and keeping the left over sauce to be used for fries that come with the signature or classic lobster roll. The bread is super good. The fries perfectly toasted. The prices were reasonable and there's $10 martinis which is like $7.25 USD! And those were phenomenal too. They fuse lobster with pub food classics, from poutine to burgers to lobster and fries. They have a nice patio area outside, which is great for the summer weather. We had the Lobster poutine and the Halifax burger, which was the perfect amount for two. I liked the mix of the potato and sweet potato fries in the lobster poutine. The generous chunks of lobster on top were flavorful and the bite from the fresh green onions cut through the grease. Late on this review but much needed . Rolling in from the states we were hungry and thought this would be a great place for lunch. Dipped in for some AC on a hot day and ordered up drinks. I got a beer, 2 fruit drinks for the kids and the wife got something . I don't remember ha ha . Kids got a free appetizer which was a kind gesture. the staff was super nice , and available when the kids didn't like their drinks. The staff even offered the kids to make their own drinks behind the bar. Ended up with cran / sprite . Anyways the meal was over loaded and kept us full. It's hard to find a good lobster roll in Toronto - let alone a restaurant that specializes in all things lobster, that is REALLY good and serves their products always fresh with high quality. Lobster Burger Bar only opened in the city recently, and it definitely hits the spot when it comes to all things lobster. We went during the soft opening period, and everything from the service and ambiance to food (in terms of quality, taste, portion) was definitely 5 stars. **LOCATION** Located in King West's theatre district (not far from King & University) makes ideal for pedestrians, theatre goers, financial district crowds (based on proximity), locals and tourists alike to stop by for lunch during the week, brunch on a weekend, or dinner any time of the week. They get REALLY busy on weekend evenings, with lineups extending to the street sometimes. Great accessible location, close to subway and streetcar stops. **INTERIOR & AMBIANCE** The interior is very spacious with booth seatings and a nice bar at the front. They have an open concept kitchen near the back, so you can watch the chefs prepare your meal. Music is modern but not too loud, so you can still carry on a conversation. There are tables for large groups as well, so you can book a party or for a big group if reservation is made ahead of time. Washrooms are very clean and well stocked, without being gender-specific (more new restaurants and establishments are going this route which is great). **SERVICE** Service is VERY friendly and helpful, especially from Brandon. We learned so much about East Coast lobsters, how they're sourced, the logistics of the supply chain management for the restaurant, and about lobsters in general. Because we came at a not-too-busy time early in the brunch hours, he gave us a personal tour of the lobster tanks at the back, and we learned how the restaurant receives shipment of lobsters from Halifax every 4 days, how they rotate the lobsters in different tanks to get fresh clean water, how the oxygen and nutrients are pumped into the tanks, general age and characteristics of the lobsters, etc. It felt like both an educational and gastronomical experience during our first visit. **FOOD** Amazingly outstanding - enough said. We ordered 3 dishes (you can order from the regular menu, even during brunch and lunch hours): 1) Classic Lobster Roll - Big, juicy, tender lobster pieces stuffed inside a brioche bun, with lettuce and only lightly seasoned. I liked that it wasn't heavy on the mayo, so the taste and texture of the lobster pieces really stood out. 2) Grilled 1.5 lbs Lobster ("The Staple") - We were surprised at how big the smallest portion option came out to be. It was enough to feed our table. Very tender lobster meat. They gave the claws, extra napkins, bowl of lemon water to wash your hands in after, and also offered a bib if needed. 3) The Halifax Burger - Everything with cheese just makes it better. The burger patty was made of lobster mixed with white cheddar and mozzarella, served with herb mayo, lettuce, onion, and tomato inside a brioche burger bun. The melted cheese-infused lobster patty was super delicious. For the sides, we chose Manitoba wild rice blend (nicely chewy), fresh-cut fries, and mixed greens salad with house-made balsamic vinaigrette. Each main dish comes with 2 sides that you can choose, so in total we had 6 sides. In general: Loved that the presentation of all the dishes (on a wood cutting board or tray, depending on the dish, combined with bowls of the sides). Also loved that they added extra veggies here and there throughout the plates... making it a well-balanced meal. In the end, it felt like we had a really great, satisfying, filling, and healthy meal (and bonus for the educational tour and learning about East Coast lobsters and supply chain). Onion rings: - not crispy enough- by the time you get to the end they're a bit soggy - seasoned with a sprinkling of Old Bay seasoning (I think) - the aioli it came with was good BF said the chocolate milkshake was "the worst milkshake [he's] ever had in his life. Been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing their menu online because I love all things lobsters! Sad to say the food was mediocre at best. My friends and I got their lobster bisque, lobster pasta and their lobster fries supreme. There's not much to say about the lobster bisque except that it had a slightly weird aftertaste. So we just didn't enjoy the flavour overall. 4/10 The lobster pasta was decent but there was just nothing special about it. The pasta was cooked Al dente and there was a decent amount of lobster meat on the pasta. But flavour wise, it was on the bland size. 6.5/10 I was looking forward to the lobster fries supreme the most but it too was also disappointing. The fries were the thin cut shoestring kind (which it's not my choice of cut for poutine style dishes), the lobster gravy was my favourite part of the dish. I like the fact that you get to pour the gravy over it yourself. Overall, the fries were served on an iron casted skillet but the dish was lukewarm at best... 6/10 Lastly, our favourite dish of the night was their oyster shooters. For $5 you get a shot of Cesar-liked cocktail with an oyster on top. Love the kick of the drink and the oysters were pretty fresh too! 8/10 It's interesting, because the restaurant is decorated very upscale, but the food just did not do its justice. I'm basing this review on only the Lobster bisque, which is the only item that I've tried at this restaurant. It was, without doubt, the worst lobster bisque I've had. It was simultaneously watered down but also tasted faintly like dirty dish water (sorry, don't know how else to describe it). My husband also agreed that it was basically not edible. I hesitate to go back just because if a lobster place can't get the lobster bisque right... I don't know if anything else would taste good... There were two choices between butter and garlic butter so we decide to get one of each but the one thing that our waiter did not tell us was there was a charge for an extra butter ($3 ) if I knew I would've stuck to one cause $3 is expensive for a tablespoon of melted butter. Drinks were good too! Very beachy and colourful. Got the Halifax Blue Habour (gin) and From Bae to Bay (Irish whiskey+ apple cider). I recently went to this place , the food was great. Pretty large portions, so it's worth the price. The food tasted fresh! They also have drink specials . The restaurant it pretty large, I went on a Wednesday so it was not packed at all. Our waitresses were awesome, I would recommend this place if you love sea food . Loved it! The manager JJ came by after Kayla sat us and introduced himself. Kayla and JJ knew their business and menu. Both were able to make recommendations and tell us about the menu. We ordered calamari, mussels, lobster burger with a caeser salad. , two lobster risottos, and the signature lobster roll with fries, . Yum, yum! Everything was hot and seasoned well. The sauce on the mussels was so delicious we had to order a side of brioche bread to sop up the sauce!!! We are only in Canada fit a few more days, but we might be back!! 3.5 stars. Mixed review depending on what you order. First off, the hood. The lobster roll was really good. Tender, flavourful meat with nice bun and well dressed it was one of the better lobster rolls XIVe had, albeit a bit small but it was filled with plenty of meat messy to eat though. The blah - lobster chowder is a major disappointment. Had one small chunk of lobster the entire bowl, mostly potatoes. The flavour wasn't really there it was bland and doughy. Kind of gross actually I ended up leaving hss as of the bowl untouched as I just couldn't. Also got a side of fries which was decent it was flavourful but limpy. Wish it was more crisp. Felt like something meant for a child, would have needed two to be satisfied. Asides from the lackluster portion the lobster meat was good tasted like a lobster roll. The Lobster Frites is a meh at best, lets leave it at that. The restaurant is nice but the food is okay. Would not go out of my way for it unless I needed a place to entertain some colleagues or to burn time at the bar. I got a Lobster burger (not to be confused with "Lobster with beef burger", a distinction that was not really explained to me), and while the $30 price tag was daunting, it was *very* filling and I was very satisfied! The burger nicely balanced the soft, creamy patty against crunchy and bitter greens, while the shoestring fries were appropriately crispy and flavourful. I have been enjoying this place for years and it just keeps getting better. The food has always been good , whether a casual lobster roll and fries, a Summerlicious menu, or a more formal meal, and the most recent menu has a seafood boil that combines a lot of my favourites in a kicky butter that I really enjoyed. There is a lovely creme brulee for dessert and good array of boozy coffees for afterwards. I've always called the vibe grown-up and supper club-y, and now the service, which was always good, has gotten even better as well -- really friendly and welcoming care by the staff and management that feels sincere and not overbearing.
