My girlfriends and I came here during a bachelorette weekend in May. We had gone hiking nearby and randomly stumbled upon the outlets (we were all super excited, needless to say) on our drive back to Portland. The restaurant had a great vibe and large tables to seat a nice big group. You order in the front first and they call out your order number. I got a STEAMED LOBSTER and I couldn't have been happier. It comes out with coleslaw (which wasn't too great) as well as fries. A few other girls got the LOBSTER ROLL which they enjoyed. There is outdoor seating as well as a second floor. I admit. I made a mistake eating here. HOW can a restaurant screw up lobster when they are ONE mile from the Atlantic Ocean in Maine???? Seriously? As others have noted this is a true tourist trap. Yeah I know, lobster isn't cheap, but regardless of price I have had some lobster meals that I can't stop drooling over. What I got at the Lobster Cooker was equivalent to comparing a Big Mac to a Filet Mignon. It was dry, flavorless (how is that possible?) and extremely dull. I have had lobster in ridiculously fancy restaurants and also in beach side bars where they pull the basket out of the water when you order, throw it in water for a few minutes and throw it on your plate (the best lobster of my life). So I repeat, how can Lobster Cooker screw it up? They have a nice patio area up front for eating and people watching, however it's outside so it may get very hot especially if your table isn't shaded. The service is excellent - very friendly and they made sure to check in multiple times. The clam chowder definitely hit the spot: super creamy and full of clams.
