The Calidog (lobster, avocado, bacon bits, some sauce)
    Teresa T.

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful festival where Lobster Dogs was one of the food vendors. I was excited about finally getting to try them after following them on social media but my excitement faded with the first bite. The best thing about what I ordered was the butter soaked Lay's potato chips that accidentally happened. For only $40 , you can get 2 lobster rolls. The problem is the rolls lacks the freshness you want from seafood and that's important in any seafood dish. I ordered the ultimate roll(lobster, crab, shrimp) on a buttered roll served with Lay's potato chips and melted butter. My husband ordered the CaliRoll(lobster, avocado, bacon bits, sauce) on buttered roll, served with Lay's potato chips and melted butter. Well, they were out of crab but I gladly accepted the offer to double the lobster(no brainer). In my opinion, both the lobster and shrimp had a thawed tasted to it. This is terrible if you're going to eat it cold. My husband had the CaliRoll, he agreed his roll lacked freshness stating the avocado was the freshest thing on his roll. The rolls lacked quality. We were not impressed or satisfied. The service was nice hence the 2 stars. I don't believe I will return. Too expensive for the food you are served.

Lobster sandwiches are an obsession of mine and I always get excited to see this food truck around town! It's so good and they go heavy on the amount of meat you get which makes the $20 price tag worth it. With your meal you also get a bag of chips which is nice and a little extra butter to go along with it. Yum!!!

Who doesn't love a lobster roll??? I wanted mine to go- and they were very accommodating. She wrapped the bread separately- lobster meat and butter separately!! It was perfect to eat later without it being a soggy mess. I love this food truck!!! I might be a Lobster dog food truck stalker!!

Lobster dog--bun with pieces of lobster and a container of warm butter

I had been anticipating, searching for, and trying to track down this lobster dog food truck for months (6 plus). For months times, schedules, and locations were not coinciding and thus the delay. But finally I was able to catch up with it. My expectation however did not match my final experience. The lobster was good with a sweet and tangy taste as to be expected therefore it did not disappoint with the taste. However my disappointment came in the quantity --the bun was smaller than I had imagined it would be and consequently it wasn't as much lobster either. I think I was expecting a bigger a lobster roll with a bit more lobster for $21 bucks.

Food Truck Time: Lobster Dogs at TapLine Growler My husband and I grabbed dinner at this food truck. I ordered a crab roll and my husband ordered the Plan B. It was ready in less than 5 minutes so that was quick. The crab roll was stuffed with meat and was tasty, we also liked the Plan B (an avocado stuffed with black bean corn salsa and pico de gallo, drizzled with chimi churri and chipotle ranch - you can add crab, lobster or shrimp for an additional charge). It was a little expensive but it was really good.

Wow! This is the best lobster roll I have had outside of the northeast. So fresh, so tasty! We were at Linville Falls Winery in Newland, NC and they had a Lobster Dogs truck on site. It was a great lunch and went well with our wine flights. If you ever stumble upon one of these trucks, please please check it out. You won't be sorry.

I've been following Lobster Dogs on Facebook for a few months now, and finally got them close enough, early enough, and at a wine bar to boot! I grabbed a glass of Chardonnay from Dorn at State Street Wine and headed back to the patio area and the truck. There was only one person in front of me, so I took a moment to peruse the menu (which isn't that big). I had my heart set on a lobster roll, so ordered that while engaging in conversation with the cute little girl helping mom run the truck. My order was quickly prepared, and I took it back to the patio to enjoy it with my wine. The bread was perfect, lightly toasted and seasoned. The lobster itself was very good, but I did find three small pieces of shell, and I think a little more seasoning and slight warming would have improved it a bit. I'll be back to try the stuffed avocado next time!

    Big dog- $18

Found this food truck after trying to find lobster rolls at 3 different restaurants in Charlotte and finding out they were closed/out of lobster! It was my first lobster roll so I'm not an expert on how to rate them, but it was AMAZING. But, it wasn't my friends first time and she said it was the best she's had! So we bought the big dog because we wanted more lobster and it was only $2 more than the regular. We brought the food home and heated it up- I would definitely recommend heating it up to everyone because after we did the sandwich literally melted in our mouth. The buttered toast was so creamy and I am now a hugeeeee fan of lobster rolls, super happy with the experience! Just had a hard time finding the food truck and had to call them using the number on their Instagram page.

Few days later back for more Can't say enough!!! Convenient fast personalized Excellent flavor Again try Cali dog Wonderful

Tiny lobster roll, not much meat nor butter or flavor, very stingy for such an over priced and on top of that got overcharged

Tiny lobster roll, not much meat nor butter or flavor, very stingy, over priced and on top of that got overcharge for such a small roll & drink almost $30. Complete disappointment, their pictures are deceiving as the roll looks nothing as advertised. If it's going to be so overprice, the food should look & taste the same as advertised. Total waste of time waiting and waste of money for such a low quality and quantity of food. I do not recommend and will not try them again. So disappointed, really ruined the rest of the evening unfortunately.

So much fun at the local Brewery. The food and service was AMAZING!! Dog friends and lots of outdoor seating.

    Yuk!

Today a coworker visited this food truck to pick lunch up for us. She actually got there before the truck arrived. THEY WERE LATE, which means they were not ready to start serving the customers. The food truck employee asked my coworker, while rushing, if she knew what she wanted, and of course she did. She was prepared. Five minutes later this lady steps out with a white bag with 3 Styrofoam boxes containing a HUGE DISAPPOINTENT. $64.50 WASTED! OH WAIT, WE OWED $3.00 MORE!!! THE PRICE IS NOT as advertised! My coworker comes back to the office with these continers. What was laying in my box was a cold HOT DOG WEENIE BUN RIGHT OUT OF THE BAG!!! NOT TOASTED! NOT EVEN WARM! THE MEAT WAS NOT EVEN WARM!!! It literally was right out of the refrigerator, plopped on a COLD, UNTOASTED HOTDOG WEENIE BUN and sent to me this way. This is the WORST food FAIL DISAPPOINTENT! DO NOT GO GOR THIS SCAM!!!!!

I couldn't check in because it said I was too far away. Alas, I'm okay with that. I was not impressed, but there are apparently people who follow this truck around. After an hour of being open, the line stayed the same length, so I decided to hop in. Must be great, right? I waited in line 52 minutes before placing an order for a Big Dog (overstuffed lobster roll), a crab roll, and a Free bird (avocado "stuffed" with bacon, grilled buffalo chicken, cheese, tomato pick, and ranch). The two rolls can with Zapp's potato chips. The lobster roll was definitely better than the crab, but both were mostly bland (except for the nice buttery bread/toast it was wrapped in like a hotdog bun). The Free bird was pretty good, but the pico is much more tomato than pico. Rather than a stuffed avocado, it's cubed. The chips had a weird Cajuny doughnut flavor. Not a fan. Overall, I waited almost an hour for pretty bland food and had to go get fries afterward.

Sorry, not a fan of a cold lobster roll. Warmth brings out the flavor of the lobster - not likely to return.

I kept seeing Seafood Destiny on social media and when I checked it out on Yelp, it got great…read morereviews. I wondered why I never heard of it before or nobody ever recommended it to me? I threw the suggestion out to Sally and she thought it would be fun to try something new so she picked me up, we got on Gate City Boulevard and drove west until we found this place in a small strip mall. The outside won't necessarily draw your attention, but once you step inside this simple takeout/ dine in spot, the experience is totally different. As soon as we walked in we were approached by a gentleman who must have been the owner. He was incredibly kind and appreciative of our patronage. He explained all the dishes and a little bit about the company itself. This guy was full of pride about Seafood Destiny and I was impressed. Besides dining inside, they offer takeout and catering services. He was particularly proud of some of his dishes and when he told me that the crab legs was a special tonight for $20, I knew that was the best fit for me. You pay at the counter after you choose your selection and then have a seat and wait for your food to arrive. We were the only ones in the restaurant, although I did see a few people pop in for takeout. I could not help but wonder with it being so empty whether the great reviews would match up to what they claimed. I got my Diet Coke from the fountain machine with unlimited refills which always makes me happy. After chatting for a while with Sally, this huge plate came my way. The crab legs special for $20 was amazing. Not only did it have plenty of crab legs, but it came with a half-dozen beautiful shrimp with excellent seasoning, turkey sausage, corn on the cob and delicious scalloped potatoes. I ordered a side of asparagus. Although it was tasty. I don't know if the asparagus was worth $5. On the other hand, the main dish was a real bargain!! The food was delicious. Sally ordered salmon with pasta and loved her dish as well. I just ate and ate and ate and ate and eventually devoured the entire dish. Boy, that was good. No doggy bag here! We were each served a special dipping sauce from the Seafood Destiny. It was sweet and tasty but I was happy to just devour the fish as is. It was well seasoned and scrumptious While we were eating, a young man came out to chat with us. Something told me he was the son of the owner or he was indeed the manager or both lol. We had a nice chat about the place and it's history and he really appreciated our visit and hoped we would spread the word. I will! We arrived at 6:30 and before we knew it it was 8:00 and the place was beginning to close. I devoured my last crab leg, got a refill on my diet Coke and we headed out. Both Sally and I discussed on the way home what a delicious meal that was, how lovely the owners and staff were and what a shame that there not more people in the restaurant. I am hoping that was a fluke on a Tuesday night because Seafood Destiny definitely deserves customers. The place was simple, but the welcoming staff, the good priced seafood meals, the plentiful portions, and most of all, seeing the incredible pride and love the owners put into this place made it a winning combination for me I'm always a big fan of family owned operations and Seafood Destiny deserves your patronage. Whether it's shellfish or salmon or grouper, I highly recommend you head over to this place. As unassuming as it is on the outside, the inside was a delicious and welcoming experience!. I will be back and I hope to see you there!
