I would really like to give this place 3 1/2 stars because the food is good. But I only had take out so service was not an issue so I can't say whether it is good or bad. The fish and chips were excellent The fish was battered really well and tasted nice. it looked like a whole piece of haddock. The fries unfortunately were over salted. Worst food ever! So sad. Great location and view. Went there once for lunch. My fried fish was raw. Our waitress gave me a hard time when I told her. Horrible. Decided to give them a second chance. My husband had the fried fish sandwich. The fish smelled bad so he didn't eat it after 1 bite. I had fish tacos which also tasted spoiled. Didn't even bother saying anything. So I'm a bit shy to admit that I'm just now discovering '02045' after having lived in Hull for over a year. My bad and my loss. First, the people. I was greeted by some very welcoming wait staffers on the way in. They directed ( almost lead me ) to the upstairs dining area where I was greeted by my own waitperson who immediately took our drink order. No delay. She was, like all the others, very accommodating, happy to serve you and genuine - not rehearsed. Ordered the clam chowder which my companion and I agreed was the best we've had in a long time. We ordered mostly seafood, like fish tacos, that were also the best we've had. Enjoyed the outdoor ambiance, views of the Boston skyline and took a very pleasant walk on the marina boardwalk that polished off the evening. Final assessment: If you are looking for a Hull destination restaurant, I think you'll enjoy '02045' as we did. My only post discovery regret is that they are seasonal and close in late September. Was looking forward to trying this new incarnation of what used to be Sea Dog Brew Pub (which I liked.) The view from the outdoor deck remains the same - beautiful, but that's all this place has going for it. Hostess desk was not particularly friendly nor accommodating, menu not very innovative, service average, and food lackluster. The inside of the restaurant was very loud and lacked ambiance. Wish the reception, food, and service could match the views. Would not recommend. read more

This is the first time I have ever entered this establishment and I made sure to understand previous reviews before I actually tried it. I read that service was bad, no hostess and food was not great. Hoping it changed because of the criticism. Well we sat at this restaurant for 2 hours and received little to no service. We sent back bread (??? You shouldn't send back bread) and rarely finished our meals let alone our watered down drinks. July 5th 2017: Called from 4:00pm-6:00pm, to try and place a take out order and the phones are busy the whole time. Clearly off the hook. At 6:10 I walk in and ask the bartender if they do take out. He said yes and that it would be about 20 minutes. Great, I place our order. I explain we called for 2 hours and think the phones are off the hook...he yells to Lisa the GM and tells her and she didn't even budge just said "oh ok" and continued chatting with friends while holding a baby. We grab a drink while waiting for take out, 6:30 no food, 6:40 no food, 7pm no food. We are getting on a boat thats leaving the dock at 7:15pm sharp and we need to leave with out the food we had paid for! I talked to the chef the next morning (Thursday) who was nice and gave my number to a manager. I get no call, I called Friday and asked for her. She apologizes and said she lost my number and "your card will be refunded Monday when Lisa is in, and I am going to also send you a gift card to come back, whats your address?" Great...so I think. A week passes, another week passes, I call again. I talk to Lisa who had NO knowledge of the situation! I explained, said I was told I would be getting a refund and a gift card to come back. Her reply "well I didn't authorize any of this, and I will refund your card, is that good enough for you?" I almost chocked on my "ummm sure" reply! Finally on July 26th I got a refund for 60 bucks. Horrible service, horrible customer service, horrible communication, horrible management, horrible restaurant! I never ate their food, so I cant tell ya how it is! read more

I truly wish I could give this place a better rating, Great location and great views. We started off our evening with a wait of 15-20 minutes for drinks. We did have a party of six, but the bar was not crowded and it was clear that there was no real hold up... Our second and third round of drinks were spaced out by at least 20 minutes. We started ordering new drinks as soon as we got our first ones because it really did take that long. Being in the service industry myself (I was a server at a very busy restaurant on the Plymouth Waterfront) I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but round after round of drinks they were slow, not cold, and just disappointing (i.e. the sangria was not good at all). Then the food came, it took about an hour for our food to come out. Personally, the lobster salad was great on the lobster BLT but the white toast it came on totally took away from the meal. At this point, it was frustrating because a lot of us had cold fries or meals, when it took an hour to get to us. When we told our server the BLT bread was a bit stale, she went and told the kitchen. She when came back with a hot dog bun (which was really good!) she told us that the bread tasted that way because it was toasted,,, (does she think we are idiots?) Overall, the lobster salad was good but that was about it. The food was very mediocre, the service was mediocre at best..I truly wish the best for this place I really hope they get it together. read more

I ate here the other night and so glad we did! The service was prompt, courteous, and very friendly. The restaurant sits back on a side street right next to the water. We were told the building used to be a school then was a couple of different restaurants. The decor was right up my alley and it was very clean. I ordered the haddock sandwich and it was delicious! I am not much for seafood but this was really good and the fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! I wish we had a place like this at home. If you are in the area of Hull, MA this spring/summer definitely put this on your list of places to stop. read more

The food however was not good I had the worst fried clams I've ever had pure rubber and over cooked chalk textured bellies, however the french fries were great with a lovely flaked salt sprinkled on top. I'm only writing this review because the Manager on staff basically told me too, I've never been treated so rudely in my life. I grew up in Hull and love it,always supporting local spots,but I will not be back to 02045 if this manager is still on staff. We placed 2 take out orders last Saturday evening, we were quoted 20 minutes, I waited 30 minutes before arriving at the restaurant. The order placed 2nd was ready but the 1st was not, they said they would look into it, several staff members asked me over the next hour that I was there ( yes 1 hour) if they could help me but no one had any urgency to get my order ready. When my order finally arrived I asked to speak with the manager just to let her know my frustration and in hopes to see what was wrong. I was quickly yelled at stating what do you want me do do,I responded I didn't know just wanted to share my experience, one of our orders was now cold since it's been here over an hour awaiting the second order, she accused me of lying about the quoted time and then told me she hates people like me! She said that we are in a global pandemic and that I guess should make the lack of customer service and her rude behavior acceptable. She told me to go write a yelp review so here I am, she then proceeded to scream at me to get out,she yelled it several times, leading me to say are you serious,I was physically shaking leaving the restaurant, I patiently waited over 1 and half hours total for food I was told would be ready in 20 minutes then was treated like trash and made to feel that somehow it was my fault. The staff stood there looking shocked and all the other guest were staring in awe. If this is the way you treat patient customers when they voice a concern, then this is not the restaurant for me or any other Hullonian! Food was great! Manager is a disaster!!! read more

Sooo...I'm a local and I stopped in today, walked up the stairs upon three hostesses chatting on the second floor about their weekend, i went to walk into the bar/restaurant area and was told the area was reserved, they then pointed me to the third floor, literally just pointed up, so i walked up and found a seat at the bar with my friend. We had lunch and a beer and as we went to check out, we were then made aware that the POS system was down and they could not take card. I asked what were my options and the bar tender said you can either write down your card info on a receipt or go to an ATM. I was told that the card info would be kept secure but after watching another couple submit thier card info it was just then left on the bar so i opted not to do that option. Ultimately i was left with the only option of walking down the street to tedeshis to an ATM. When i came back i was then told i could not get change. I left my cash and left but only to walk by three hostesses gossiping about thier social lives. Food was OK but who ever is running this joint needs to get a handle. Yes, LOCAL will always have the business of the seasonal boaters from the marina but they do not win the actual LOCALs who live down the street. read more

Food and atmosphere are great. Been there 3 times now. Had the fish tacos and the chicken fingers at the bar - both of which were plentiful and delicious. Had a blue cheeseburger too, which was awesome. The only issue my wife and I have is that it's noisy/loud inside - tough to have a conversation over the noise. Sit out on the deck if you can, and time your dinner around the sunset, which are spectacular from this bay side of Hull! read more

You can't beat the view here. The decor is cool too. I am worried about the service and some of the food. The waitstaff is young, and that's a-okay. But, with that comes some inexperience. Learning any new job is tough. We waited a long time for everything, all through the evening, except when I went to get drinks at the bar. The drinks were really, really good. Bartenders were attentive and sharp. Back at the table, we ordered food, and it came eventually. My chowder was greasy, with literally a layer floating on top. I love butter and bacon fat but this was kind of sickening. The big pretzel with the beer cheese was delicious. I feel like with some tweaks, this place could really be great I will say that I was concerned when I read some of the management's responses to other customer Yelp reviews. Constructive criticism is so important to growing any business. Consider the points customers are making when they take a few moments to review your restaurant. This restaurant was a fantastic find!!! Jaime was an amazing server and Chris stopped by to make sure we were doing great. Lisa the general manager made sure our visit was perfect and the kids were doing great! The cocktails were so good and reasonably priced!! The scallop roll was beyond amazing! My husband got the fish and chips and was in heaven and the kids meals were perfect size. The calamari appetizer and bruschetta were so good almost could not finish our meal. Can't wait to come back... if your visiting or staying for awhile go it is so worth it and did I mention the view off the back deck.... Boston at sunset!!!!! 5 + experience all the way!!!! read more

The one star is because the food was really good. The service sucked and drinks took forever. There are literally 10 parking spots out front for a huge restaurant so be prepared to park your car on a slimey side street for a $60 meal. It took a good half hour from when we ordered our first round of drinks to get them because it appeared the bartenders were busy flirting with the 4 bar patrons (there were at least 3 people behind the bar). The time between our appetizer and meal was at least 45 minutes...by the time the food came we didn't even want it. We got no apology from manager or staff...just another loaf of bread. read more

Food was good. Wayyy over priced. Bartenders get an A+. The 2018 season opened and my husband and I were so excited to get back to Local for a lobster roll and cocktails. We thought last year was a bit overpriced and then we saw this years menu that hiked up the price even more, ever heard of market price on lobster?.. flat rate $26 bucks for a lobster roll is a bit much. Also, $14 for a standard burger and you're going to charge extra for cheese?! Guys. Ok, so thats enough on the price. Next, I was rather annoyed and felt bad for the female bartenders on having to deal with a drunken, arrogant, skeevy customer that was friends with the owner acting like he owned the place and I quote "I own Hull". My husband, who tends to typically keep to himself, even felt it necessary to write on the check apologizing to the bartender for having to deal with this jerk. Not a good look, Local. Honestly, the only reason I would come back is because the bartenders were above and beyond with customer service, just wish ownership reflected that. read more

Amazzzing view! Didn't have a chance to try the food; unfortunately, we left before being seated. We were greeted and put on the wait list by a very friendly lady at the front and were gladly willing to wait the 45 minutes. Went over to the bar to grab a drink before walking around and got carded. Showed my Florida ID (I'm sure I'm not the first) and was asked to provide another form of ID. Now I am ALWAYS asked this question, it's great to look young, but not in this scenario. It's always frustrating. I have my health insurance card, two credit cards and a debit card, all in my name, in my wallet. The bartender, however, asked for another PICTURE ID, stating "it's the law." Now, I'm not sure if ANYONE carries another form of picture ID.. but I do not. And also by previously working as a bartender- I'm not aware of this law, either.. Now, I also want to note that I have now lived in Boston for 7 months and have never had a bar request a second form of PICTURE ID...a second form of ID is normally requested because of my out-of-state license, but my credit or debit card has always sufficed. I would have LOVED to try your food and drinks- menu looked great. But after feeling neglected since it took 15 minutes to even be GREETED by a bartender (not served, just acknowledged) then feeling disrespected is why we left. Our server was very nice but there was no organization to the order taking, wait time or delivery time. Food and mixed drinks were terrible. We had friends down from north shore, so I thought I will try again (been there 2 times before). Well, unfortunately things were not different. Our meals were delivered and we had no napkins or silverware. Should one have to ask for silverware? Three times we asked for more napkins. Waitress was out to lunch. Our meals were delivered. The clams were over cooked. I was embarrassed for our company. Grease must have been old..either expiditors or waitress should have noticed the burnt clams..really sad looking. My husbands dog was almost black from over frying. I ordered a well done burger, which came out nicely cooked. One out of four..not to good. You need a lot of work to do, if you plan on sticking around. 3 out of 3. You're out. read more

I dont leave reviews often but I felt I should leave this one, especially after reading through some of the more negative reviews. My boyfriend and I ate here this past weekend, and our meal was good, our waitress was friendly and did a great job making sure we were well taken care of. When the check came there was an issue with the amount on our gift card. It wasnt something that was anyones fault, just probably a human error somewhere along the way (it happens, be gracious!) Later that night I reached out privately to the restaurant in messenger, and the manager Lisa responded right away. She asked if we could speak over the phone, which we did the next day. Lisa was awesome to talk to and we had a very pleasant conversation. The matter was cleared up immediately. I noticed several things in reading the more negative reviews- Lisa always responds and asks to have a conversation with the reviewer, to have an opportunity to find resolution. Also, and I find this to be awesome, I noticed in one review that she commented on a server who had worked there for a couple of years as being well liked by patrons. The reviewer had left a negative comment about the server and I found it refreshing that Lisa stood up for the character of her employee. This is a good restaurant, good food, good staff. THis place is great...I don't know why there are some negative reviews. We went on a beautiful Friday night and the view is amazing. Only place to see the sunset. The lobster roll cannot be beaten anywhere. The burgers and salads were great. The staff and waitress Katy was very attentive and eager to serve. Lisa, the manager was very personable. The location can't be beat! (Bay view into the city of Boston.) The drink selection is only fine (I miss the Seadog) and the food is only ok and over-priced. This would be forgivable​ given the view, hower service is HORRIBLE. My first time there the server took my order, brought the food, and then didn't come over to see if I needed anything else for over an hour. I actually thought maybe her shift was over and asked another server for help. (I left a 10% tip, but shouldn't have given any in retrospect. [I regularly leave 25% for excellent service.])Then I thought I would give it another chance; maybe that server was a space-cadet. So we went again and the host said that there was an hour wait. There were many open tables (close to 1/3 of the restaurant). I asked why and the host said that the wait staff wouldn't be able to serve all the tables. I understand that it may be difficult to hire at this time of year, but this seems like a horrible business plan. read more

To the manager, Lisa: It seems strange that you are responding 21 days after I posted a review. It seems to indicate a certain level of indifference as most managers and business owners take time to monitor customer feedback from online reviews, especially one as visible and well-regarded as Yelp. Instead of responding to my specific points, you go on the defense and simply state that the waitress had worked there for 2 years and only received good feedback and denied any knowledge of the incident (lol, of COURSE she did!). She was very pleasant but after I pointed the fruit fly out to her, she never reappeared at our table and after waiting 30 minutes or so, we had to go to the bar to have her summoned from the kitchen for our bill so we could leave as my friend had to pick up her young son. I never blamed her for the presence of the fruit fly on the lettuce on my fish sandwich nor did I tip her under my usual 20% although I was disappointed she didn't take it off the bill and ignored us after I said something about the fruit fly, mistakenly thinking I would not properly tip her. I do not attribute issues with food prep and handling to wait staff and have had relatives working in the food industry for years and have nothing but respect for their hard work. Your response, Lisa, seems to deflect from my feedback. If you look through my other reviews, I provide very balanced feedback and frequently give 4 and 5 stars to businesses. When I give negative feedback, I provide constructive feedback and examples. If you are going to provide feedback to customers' reviews in the future, you might want to start with not negating their experiences. read more

I came here with my fiancé a few days ago and was very disappointed. I ordered a frozen drink (it was very good!) and I ordered steak tips. The food came out and there wasn't a whole lot on my plate but it was for sure enough. There was no salt and pepper or ketchup on the table- this is frustrating when your waitress is busy with other customers through out the night. Anyways, I took one bite out of the steak and couldn't eat it. It was cooked the right way but it tasted SO bad that I believe it was old. I had my fiancé try it and he agreed. (I've never had a steak that I couldn't eat cause it tasted bad?) I told my waitress and she offered to bring me out a chicken breast- I said yes and she comes out 20 minutes later (my fiancé is done eating by now) and gives me cut up chicken like you would find in a salad. The steak was not removed from the bill (I didn't even bring the steak home or anything of course even though she offered) and then she tried to compensate with a free cookie (i got it to go and I find out it was BURNT!) but my waitress was very nice, she was just doing what she was told and my drink was great, but we will not be back due to lack of menu and failure to make the bill right- that's just bad business! read more

Me and 3 friends went on Sunday the 29th around 2:30. There was no one at the bar and we sat down and ordered a drink. It took the bartender 7 minutes or so to even ask if we wanted menus. She had her back to us the entire time which was odd considering that we were the only ones there for most of the time. She was very rude and at one point asked me if I wanted another captian and ginger while I had a mouthful of food. I didn't wanna be rude so I made a hand gesture implying i was going to finish chewing and then answer but before I could do so she says "ya know you can just shake your head yes or no" with a dirty look. Perhaps I would've done so had I wanted another drink, but I just wanted a water. I've never been to a bar and had the bartender pay such little attention to her only 4 guests. I understand she was busy before we came in, but that doesn't make it right for her to be so rude and terrible at her job. If we do return we certainly won't be sitting with her read more
