Mambos is your run of the mill beachside restaurant. Their menu consists of less seafood and more sandwiches & pizza than anything else. We tried their chicken sandwich which was juicy and crispy. You can never go wrong with a classic brioche bun & good sauce. Fries on the side were relatively standard, but nice that they included it for free. Calamari was also average, but I liked how they added plenty of fried banana peppers & pineapple. Didn't expect the fried pineapple to work, but it surprisingly did. Also the servers were great. Great choices, great quality, extraordinary service. Have been dining in Nantasket for nearly 30 years and greatly appreciate this addition. The BBQ Chicken Pizza (pictured) was technically off the menu but available and a fabulous choice. Available with a gluten free crust (true of all their pizzas) and a very fun choice. This place is a treasure. Across the street from The Parrot (also a treasure and very different scale) but well worth crossing the street for. Will definitely be back. Didn't have a chance to experience the roof deck which is certainly on the list for future plans. I have eaten here once as well as had multiple takeout. In house was loud and cold.. The food here is very good !!! My only problem with Mambos is that nothing is ever cooked thoroughly. I had the bacon cheeseburger in which the burger was one of the top three I've had in my 65 years on this planet. BUT , the bacon looked like it was peeled out of a package and laid right on the cooked hamburger. Please, for god sake's if you're going to put bacon on anything let it be crisp.. Last evening I had one of their Gunrock pizzas, and another itself. It tasted great, BUT, the crust wasn't cooked all the way through, very Dowie and disappointing. We were here just before "the season" began, as things were opening up. We stopped by for pizza and burgers and had a great experience! The food was amazing. The gluten free pizza crust was the best cauliflower crust I've ever had in my life! Our server was busy-taking care of carryout and all the tables, but he was attentive and knowledgeable. Our expectations were not high (never been to the area before). but All the food was excellent. Got the ceasar with shaved parm; the dressing was great. I find it very interesting how a restaurant who has a Caribbean theme doesn't treat Latinos well. Allow me to explain. We walked into the door and were not greeted. After waiting a few minutes, a girl tells us to sit wherever we want. And we do. Time passes and we are just sitting there. No menus, nothing offered gl drink, nobody came up to us. What I found to be very disappointing was that everyone in the restaurant was white and all of them weee getting attention. We were just ignored. My friend and I are latinas and quickly notice how the server would walk by our table to assist others, even spending time to joke around with some of the tables as we looked on waiting to be offered a menu ans water. Well after 10 mins of just sitting there, we got up and left. And that was the best decision ever! If you walk out of mambos to the right, there is this taco place called California Underground and the food was incredible! Cons: Short in wait staff (nice enough so I left 20% tip, but things took looong), out of key menu items on a weekday, and the food we did get was terribly prepared. Oh yeah: Despite the paper straws (they must have heard it is hip) this place is single use plastics gallore: plastic utensils and every water refil came in a new disposable plastic cup. The drinks are very strong!! Super yummy and reasonably priced. My friend decided on the coconut shrimp and loved it, and she usually hates shrimp. I decided on a gluten free pizza and it was delicious! Perfect portion of cheese/sauce. Not over cooked or burnt either, as many GF pizzas are since it's thin crust. Also, the fries didn't look like your average side of thin, frozen fries. These were crispy and tasted super fresh. Everyone loved their meal. Everytime I order delivery from Mambos there is an issue. Says they're open right now on 10/16/24...yet no one is there and the doors are locked! I was able to place an order online and my payment was taken! I will be demanding a refund as this is no way how you run a business! They forgot parts of my orders multiple times. Also gave me the wrong food I ordered! They never answer the phone when you call..it keeps ringing. How am I supposed to confirm my order or order directly over the phone if no one picks up! When you order online(which is convenient for most people) sometimes it doesn't say delivery and says take out. Would be nice if they told you on the website the hours of deliver. I tried looking but didn't see anything. I added a tip thinking it was getting delivered but I have to pick it up now. Visited Mambo with my family. The place is pretty nice. We sat outside in the balcony. The service wasn't that great because she was overwhelmed at the time. Our drinks took very long. Other visitors that came after us were getting their food and drinks first, which left a bad taste in my mouth. After our drinks were served, the Drink didn't taste as it should, so I had to send it back. The appetizers arrived at the same time that the main course arrived. The waitress didn't check with us to ensure that everything was ok. The Manager came to check-in with us because I returned the drinks, and he was very polite and professional. I really appreciated that. Once we received the regular drinks and food, we really started to enjoy our experience. The food was amazing. I only saw the waitress when she delivered the check. I was very disappointed with the service overall, and I can understand that they were under staffed at that time, but that doesn't make things right. I don't know who's giving this 5's or stating it's the best Flat pizza around, well maybe around the block, but get out... there are 62,000 pizza places in the us alone - try some good flat pizza I.e. Boston's North End, Little Italy in NYC or 1,000 other joints within 100 miles. But as for Mombis's, maybe these "5ers" ate at a different time, place and restaurant. First off, like one other reviewer stated... we stood at the door for 15 minutes with no one even asking us how many were in our party. Finally we sit and order. Polite service albeit hurried. My son got a salad that could feed 3 - but that was one of the shining stars. You eat with plastic ware, paper napkins and paper plates - really, what am I at a picnic. It's a restaurant not a fast food joint. So my pizza was good. About a B or a 4 on a 1-5 scale. My wife's gluten free pizza was like eating a paper plate or cardboard 1 or an F... it was dry, the ingredients were dry and it was just bad pizza. My sons calzone was unique in that it looks like an elongated pizza roll flattened, slit on top with more cheese added on the cut down the center. He asked for sauce on the side, which he received all 2 table spoons. Plus with the two patrons in front of us waiting Outside the restaurant mind you in the doorway which is wide open, there were 4 others finishing their meals. 45 minutes later we got our food. It's pizza not chateaubriand. Oh yeah, one manger, bus person, bartender (all the same person) and 1 waitress. That's it. Some creative combos on the pizza choices. Cute place with some views of Nantasket beach. I noticed when we got there for dinner that they had not even swept the floor. There was food and crumbs everywhere, it made us wonder about the kitchen. The waitress was friendly and helpful when she finally came up. We sat upstairs for the view. The bar was not open and totally barren so it looked unappealing. They were very slow to even get us our drinks. The menu was mainly sandwiches and pizzas. We got the burger and the balsamic pizza.
