Went last night with a really large group. I Had been once a long time ago but couldn't remember if I liked it or not. We were sat outside in the pouring rain but stayed completely dry so that was awesome. Had a bit of the appetizers the table got and all were solid (hushpuppies, pimento cheese and deviled eggs). I got the quinoa salad with blackened salmon and my wife got the shrimp and grits. The rest of the table got burgers mostly and everyone seemed pleased. I really liked the blackened salmon and the salad was fresh. My wife enjoyed her shrimp and grits (though she liked my salad better too). I also have to add that I'm ashamed I didn't catch the name of our server but he was excellent. We were a large and picky table and his service was fantastic. Just went here for my birthday dinner, reservation for 7 on a Tuesday was easy to get a few days prior, we were seated right away even though we came early (never been early anywhere in my life, so that was a sweet reinforcer). I've been here before but only after a pretty hefty pregame, so I could not tell you what the food tasted like. But alas, here we are with an updated visit review: Drinks: Pretty delicious, a little on the pricier side and somewhat heavy on the ice Service: Wonderful! Was checked up on many times, got some great recommendations from the server, everyone was lovely, shoutout Kendal Ambience: I like the intimate atmosphere, pretty dimly lit which I enjoy so it's harder to see me stuffing my face Food: most of my party got burgers, they all enjoyed their meals and obv I stole a fry of every kind of the various plates--fries were amazing (tots, regular, sweet potato and all). I had the Patagonian salmon, which I will say was salty. Like really salty. I love a good salty dish but it took away from some of the flavors in the plate. I do recommend this place but our visit was horrible!!! We didn't wait that long for a table which was great, but once seated took a while for a server. She was friendly at first but after the kitchen made the wrong order, she avoided us and we weren't even mad! Took at least 20+ minutes for the one correct meal to come out while others with me finished eating. (I ordered a local22 burger and they made the lamb burger by accident which looked totally different!!) Cocktails are expensive and cups FILLED with ice. Just disappointed, will try again because menu and atmosphere was nice but hoping for better service next time. read more

Didn't think I needed to ask for my food to be hot- even warm would have been nice. Grits should be hot not cool and poached eggs for ( eggs Benedict) are not inviting when lukewarm. My husband's grits and bacon held no heat. Perhaps it was an off day for this establishment, but it's challenging to be understanding when you are all set to have a nice brunch and you get the cool plate special. Also avoid tables with slats on them. If you look between the slats you will find an unpleasant collection of foods from previous meals: not an appetizing sight to behold. read more

I can honestly say I am a fan of Local 22 The vibe, the staff, the food are all were on point ! The server/bartender I had was awesome and rocked with all of her recommendations Basically ordered almost all the appetizers including the vegan chili which was delicious... Yeah I know vegan chili being de6??? Who wouldve thought ... but yeah it had amazing flavor and a lil kick... could've use a lil touch of salt but other than it was delicious... Next up were the deviled eggs ... who can go wrong with deviled eggs it was creamy and yummm The jalapeno hushpuppies were good but didnt have that much of a jalapeno hit to it ... it was definitely delicious with some butter The chili garlic wings weren't bad ....but a lil over cooked but was still not bad The sweet potato waffle fries with honey sriracha dipping sauce was amazballs. We dined at this restaurant during Restaurant Week 2023 and the menu options were exceptional. We ordered the burrata and meatball appetizers which were classic dishes. The pork chop was prepared perfectly while still remaining juicy and complemented with a sweet marmalade. The Mahi Mahi was a light and refreshing dish wrapped around the essence of Spring. The raspberry cheesecake and pecan praline deserts left a little to the imagination and wanting something more. Overall, a great place to dine and can be a romantic first date atmosphere. read more

Went here for the first time last week with 2 friends. The place was good and there is no reason I would not come back. We had cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The pimento cheese dip and the cocktails were out-of-this-world amazing! The dinner was good but not amazing. We had shrimp and grits, beet salad (mmmm) and a pizza. Everything was fresh and looked appetizing. The desserts were ok. All in all this place was absolutely fine- the staff was friendly, the food was good, but it just had that feeling that every chain restaurant has. Table was cozy, nicely lit, and surrounded by foliage, which made for comfortable conversation. Salute! Boulevardier was well balanced and beautiful in the cut glass. Lamb burgers for 3 in the party were a hit; scallop and risotto, 2 fried chicken sandwiches, and a burger enjoyed by others. I ordered from tonight's specials and it truly was special! The local NC seared sea bass was cooked to perfection, seasoned just right, skin crispy, tender and moist, and an ample portion. The ribeye was great. The short rib special was amazing. The sweet potato fries were great too. We also liked the peach cobbler. I'd say the appetizers are nothing special. What a great spot that's pet friendly too! Kinda tucked back in the corner of condos or apartments behind Harris teeter. We had Maddy with us so we needed a dog friendly spot to eat and I was hungry! We ordered the appetizer of Brussel sprout's and hubs ordered an ipa and I ordered one of their signature cocktails. It was amazing but my hubs beer came out in a warm glass which was unfortunate because the ipa itself was good. I ordered the wahoo with orzo and pesto and hubs ordered the shrimp and grits bowl. My thoughts were too much oil and my wahoo was over cooked the flavor was amazing so I didn't sent it back. The shrimp and grits flavor good was disappointing because it was too runny and not enough grits and shrimp. The good thing was server brought hubs a nice cold mug with his hopium and Landon did awesome serving us food and drinks. The food was out fast and we always had our glasses filled with water and they even brought Maddy out a cold water bowl too. Good experience and we will take Maddy out here again. read more

Holy cow this was amazing. I tend to give 5 stars if things are good. I wish I could give 10 here. We showed up at 7pm on a Tuesday night. There was a 20min wait. I was annoyed but you almost have to wait at that point bc by the time you go somewhere else that 20 minutes & if there's a wait then it must be good. We only waited about 12 minutes & got sat at a booth so at least we weren't shoved in the corner. I didn't catch the name of our pink haired server but he rocked it. If that wasn't enough, I'll point out something embarrassing. I eat out a lot. Everything starts to taste the same. Not here. We started with the mid charcuterie & it was exceptional. The trout, the cheese, the salmon even the lettuce garnish. lol. Then I got the boring mushroom pizza. What do they do to those mushrooms? The flavor exploded in my mouth. It's weird. I felt like I could have ordered a side of raw carrots & they would have tasted better. Guys you really have an amazing experience here! Ive been here twice now and every time was amazing! I had the pizza the first time with my friend and we split half of each. More than enough to take home and it was soooo good. The lamb pizza was AMAZING. And the pizza with the egg in the middle (forgot the name). Thé second time that I came, I had their burger and cornbread. This was so filling. Went to dinner before a concert at Duke Chapel. Seated at a square table which was perfect for our group of 8. The service was attentive and the food was even better. The burgers, and chicken sandwich were delicious. One friend had the black bean burger and said it was delicious. Quinoa salad and deviled eggs were yummy as well. The spinach artichoke dip appetizer was the best part of the night, as it was flavorful, warm, and filling. The spicy chicken sandwich however was bland, dry, flavorless, and the texture was stringy. The lamb pizza was also bland, floppy, and tasted like a $5 frozen pizza with artesian toppings. To charge upscale prices, I'd expect upscale flavors. A huge thank you to our waitress who was kind from the beginning and graceful as we voiced our concerns. Steamed Mussels with a White Wine-Butter Garlic Sauce with Tomato & Crostini was good. The mussels were cooked just right. I will like to have more white wine added to give it a bit of zing. The sour dough crostini were charred; the pieces that weren't charred paired well with the white wine and tomatoes broth. Seared wahoo over Crispy Chili Garlic Potatoes, topped with Capers, Marinated Tomatoes, & Crab Béchamel were delicious, highly recommend this dish. Wahoo was perfectly seasoned and seared. The crab bechamel was savory with umami. The capers added a nice contrast and kick. Pura vida Lamb cheeseburger with mixed green. I love the Smoked Gouda, Cucumber, Tomato, Kalamata Olives, Arugula, Harissa, and Tzatziki; all the ingredients complimented each other and made the cheeseburger not so heavy to eat. I also like the vinaigrette on the mixed green. Orange almond cake was yummy in flavor, the sweet of the cake and the cream, the orange glaze was wonderful. I wasn't a fan of the texture of the almond pieces. I prefer the whole thing to be cake like texture. Overall, great food and great service. I definitely recommend this place. read more

We ate here several years ago at dinner and were not very impressed. It was okay, jut not memorable. We recently returned with a discount for brunch and had a much better experience. Whether it was the food or a new groove, we enjoyed our meal. The pastrami hash was a unique dish and my wife said her Bloody Mary was the best she ever had.
