So thankful for restaurants that open just a little later for those of us who are hungry after…read more8:30. We luckily found parking along kapahulu so tried 2 new places: Aburiya Ibushi (9:30pm) and Cha To Gelato Zen (10:30pm). As we walked back to our car, we walked past Zen and noticed it was packed. And it was a Tuesday night! Great that there was a menu on the door so we could see what the excitement was all about. Appeared to be fancy matcha drinks and desserts with a gelato bar. Decided since we had free parking and the line didn't seem too long, grabbing a gelato to take home shouldn't take long. There was only 1 person working to serve the entire restaurant! She had to make every fancy dessert! Omg. But as I watched her, I realized that she was so sweet to everyone and worked very efficiently. We actually did not wait long at all, as there were only 3 orders ahead of us. When it was our turn, she let us sample the gelato flavors. We ended up buying twice as many scoops because they were all so delicious! Not cheap but tasty! We got the azuki (creamy because it's mixed with marscopone), black sesame, miso (taste kinda like caramel), and seasonal watermelon (only for August). The matcha chocolate was very unique. Didnt try the mango. My fav was the watermelon, which was more of a sorbet than gelato. Will definitely return to try their other desserts!

The matcha was so so delicious, probably the best matcha i've had in the US (considering i'm from socal LOL)! I got the samidori with oat milk after referencing the chart on the menu which was super helpful! Really nice nutty aftertaste and stronggg rich matcha ! Originally i was gonna get less sweet but the woman at the bar told me it is already not sweet and i agree it's not necessary to adjust it! i also sampled some of the ice creams (black sesame, miso, and kinako) which were all super rich and delicious! The owner (I believe his name was Toru) was also super pleasant and we got to chat a lot about Hawai'i and matcha! super awesome experience all of the staff was so sweet :D I went back twice on my 4 day visit here and i will 100% come back!

This is for my catering experience with Tea at 1024…read more For Galentines, me and my girlfriends decided to take the experience to us. The ordering process was easy thanks to their amazing staff. Their guidance from online ordering to communication over the phone and text, they made our event successful and memorable. There was 5 of us , with a moderate appetite. So, We went with two orders of the "Catering - Sandwiches TO GO" and one order of the "Catering - Scones TO GO". Then our choice of their teas: 1oz Sakura Cherry Rose and 1oz of their Cookies and Cream, which is great with milk and sugar btw. 1oz =at least 12 pours of the tea. If you want 2oz =24 pours of tea. The sandwiches were also delicious, a cute tiny bite of flavor. Which to this day I wish I ordered more since I'm more of a savory girlie. You can choose the sandwiches from their catering or seasonal menu and it comes in 4 pieces. We ordered: Sandwich flavors 24 pieces 1 Sweet egg salad (4) 1 Smoked Salmon with Dill Creme (4) 1 Nutella & Strawberry (4) 1 roasted veggies & hummus (4) 1 Crab & Cheese (4) 1 Cucumber & Avocado (4) My personal Favorites were the Smoked Salmon with Dill Crème and Roasted veggies & Hummus. The scones only available flavors were vanilla bean & earl grey and it also comes with potted cream and jam packed in a to-go cup. If you decide to host a little tea party with your girlfriends, I highly recommend trying them out.

Parking is always difficult in Chinatown but we both scored meter parking on Nuuanu St not too far from 1024. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised by how cute and kitschy the place looked! There was a group of 3 adorable little girls being patiently taught by a parent how to sip their tea and enjoy the courses. They were dressed like princesses with tiaras and I loved that this place created that type of atmosphere. I wish I had dressed up more! You get to choose your own tea cup and matching plate from various areas and chose one tea that they will refill throughout the tea service. I opted for the Buckingham Palace (Earl Grey and rose?) I think. Would love to try their pu'erh tea options next time! The lunch menu for afternoon tea is so reasonably priced and starts with a salad, two flavors of scones with sweetened clotted cream and a strawberry jam, then 6 finger sandwiches and 3 dessert bites. I will say that the food was a relatively even hit or miss on taste but I did prefer the savory sandwiches to the final dessert options. It's heavy on the carbs but that's afternoon tea for you! Such a fun option in Hawaii if you want to lean into the whimsy and magic of tea time!

My daughter and I made last minute reservations on Open Table for 4:30 (last seating) on a Wednesday. The basic Afternoon Tea is $75. You can get the Champagne Afternoon Tea for $85 or Celebratory Afternoon Tea for $95. When we arrived we saw people enjoying their tea but we didn't see a host stand to check in so we went to Orchids and the hostess showed us where to wait. There were five tables that seat four people each and one server. I tried the Halekulani 40th Anniversary Blend and my daughter tried the Pineapple Coconut Rooibos with Mango (caffeine free). We both enjoyed our tea. We enjoyed the scones with strawberry preserves, lemon curd and cream as well as the lemon poppy seed cake. We also enjoyed the Bresaola Beef, spinach tartelette, salmon gravlax and chicken salad sandwich with peanuts. We weren't entirely impressed with the pastries, which were beautifully crafted but just not our favorites. I would have preferred Halekulani's coconut cake.
