This afternoon I dined in at the counter because it was hot outside, it must've been higher than 81 defrees F. I requested a double gelato - Matcha and Kinako, which came wiith brown sugar syrup. Excellent. Initial visit, I had a takeaway Soda Float: their June special. It was a white tea with white peach gelato...though it seemed more like a sorbet, but what do I know.... and yuzu syrup. You can customize your own soda float. July's gelato flavor is lychee. Hours are from 200p till 1100p, closed on Wednesdays. Actually, their hours are more differentiated than that, e.g., Fridays and Saturdays are open from 200p till midnight. After dark bar hours start at 600p. Staff is very courteous. LOL It's no secret that I love this place and my friends also love it too. It's our fave place to hangout and chill. They ask that each customer order only one dish per person (not including drink) as they have only a few workers and to ensure good experience for all customers. Polite, professional, and attention to detail... is what separates this spot from the rest. Cha To Gelato Zen offers Japanese inspired Gelato flavors and Tea from Japan. Desserts are the focus here, yet they also have a full bar and homemade cheesecake! We decided to each get two scoops of Gelato paired with suggested Tea. The most difficult part was what flavors should I choose. Not much choices (under ten), however all looked delicious. We chose UJI MATCHA + JAPANESE MILK TEA, and the third order was KINAKO (roasted soybean) + JAPANESE MILK TEA. All paired with Bancha TOMOE FROM SHIZUOKA.The mystery came when I was the first to order the MATCHA, but eh instead received the KINAKO GELATO! All good as it was amazing! In the end, Cha to Gelato Zen was a great choice and for a moment I felt I was back in Japan! You get to choose 2 gelato. Our selection were Kinako and black sesame. They were good. Yes, drinks are made to order. No shortcuts. We went on a Sunday night around 8pm and there was no wait. It's a small intimate place that lives up to its name: Zen, with minimalist decor in light neutral colors. I ordered the Baby Bancha (no caffeine) and Miso gelato combination. The bancha was the smoothest tea I ever tasted! And the Miso gelato was unbelievably delicious! I went here twice and I love how cute and cozy this place is! They have a few tables and a bar inside. Both times I've ordered the black sesame gelato and it was so good! Super creamy with a nice black sesame flavor. Although I believe it's non-dairy with soy milk (I love dairy that's why lol) I still really enjoyed it. My second time here, I also got the matcha cheesecake and that was yummy as well. A creamy cheesecake with not a super strong matcha flavor, which I prefer. This is a great place to come for dessert! Parking can be kinda tough since it's only street parking but luckily I was able to find a stall that opened up. read more
