Attended a business event at the Waioli Kitchen and Bakery. For a weekday they were packed. The parking lot was full and the line to order lunch or baked goods was long. They have a great system and took care of everyone. Open since 1922 they've decorated the restaurant with nostalgic memories. Their name in Hawaiian means Joyful Water . We were treated to lunch and baked treats. Including their Famous Scones. Blueberry seems to be the favorite hands down . We had a great time, great food and pastries in an awesome place . Highly recommended

4.5 stars rounds up to 5. The only thing this place is missing is an espresso machine, but everything else makes up for it. Above all, its mission of supporting folks who need it makes this an easy place to support, but the food and service stand on their own. Waioli has been in Manoa for a while. It's a charming space with indoor/outdoor seating and solid brunch food. The scones are amazing - always a few available and interesting flavors. My new favorite is the breakfast fried rice, made with bacon, served with an extra slice of bacon, and incredibly flavorful. Super ono. They have brewed coffee (sometimes French presses are available) and teas. I ordered an iced chai on my last visit and it was delicious. Plenty of space to sit once you order - from sofas to sprawling tables to patio seating.

I'd give it 200 stars for the food. The workers were very nice to me kids would love the food and the bacon or the pancakes. But if you are lucky you could spot a cat. Lots of beautiful trees. By Louise( 7yrs old)

Came for another beautiful Saturday breakfast with family. We arrived slightly before 9 so it was not too busy yet. It did get rather busy after 9. Service was friendly and layback. We enjoyed the relaxing lust green ambience. In addition to my favourite egg&cheese croissant, we also tried the short rib loco moco and breakfast bowl. They are nicely prepared and tasted good.

I love Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop! I've been here a couple of times and need to leave my review so I'll remember what I ate (so I can try new things next visit!) This time I had the breakfast bowl with fried rice and scrambled eggs. The bacon was nice and crispy and it was served with toast made of a swirl bread along with a small dish with jelly and butter. My friend had the avocado toast which was a huge serving. Last time I was here I had toast and bacon and eggs and my friend had a salad. This time I also bought a box of pastries to take home to share. The pastries sell out quickly but this trip, there was lots to choose from. I bought chocolate pumpkin bread, a savory scone, coconut bread pudding, a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese in the center, and molasses cookies. All were delicious! It's always crowded so be prepared to wait in line. Also, parking is tight and sometimes you have to wait for someone to leave before you can park. I love the old plantation style building with the airy rooms and surrounding gardens. I always feel like I'm on the outer islands when I eat here or transported back in time.

Long line (for ordering) already @ 9am!

They open @ 8am and when I arrived @ 9am, there was already a long line for ordering. I was glad that they still had breakfast bowl available when it came to my turn. ;) While all the tables might be taken, you should be able to find if you wait for a few minutes. I love their ambiance - being surrounded by trees and very peaceful. All the staff are very friendly and polite.

I have been on an açaí bowl kick lately and I think Waioli kitchen has one of the best. You have to go check them out! They serve breakfast and lunch here. My other fav menu item is the pancakes topped with banana and served with a coconut syrup. I also love the Mediterranean salad with chicken, simple but delicious! I love coming here, not only for the food, but also the vibe. It is surrounded by so much greenery. It is in the center of Mānoa. It's very majestic and calming. I love coming here!

Friendly Service We tried the Mango & Sunset Lemonade. The Sunset was my favorite drink. The jelly already with the butter was amazing spread over the Sourdough bread. I also had Avocado on toast that was brought as side options and I put them together and pours the jelly on top. The combination together is a must tried and is very tasty. Breakfast bowl gave a good amount of fried rice and plenty egg I noticed but only thing I could say is they could give at least 2 bacons because only one is given. Curry Chicken Salad in a Papaya with a side of toast and jelly was definitely a fave. I recommend to others to try it definitely brings a great savory, not sweet flavor combing together when eaten with the papaya. The Blueberry Scone was delicious next time I will pair with a coffee.

Waioli Tea Room probably has one the most beautiful settings on the island. Tucked away in the back of Manoa the vibe here is so peaceful. Lots of trees, flowers, and birds. It also rains a lot back here and makes it even more peaceful. I always leave here feeling relaxed and choose it as a meeting spot for friends and visitors. The food menu is limited and that's ok, they focus on simplicity and making the food fresh and good. Their bakery items are so fresh and delicious. It's my favorite place for scones on the island. The ube scone is 10/10 and is the shining bakery item in my opinion. I've tried most menu items here over the years and brought many guests here and everyone is always happy with their food. I usually just get the simple breakfast sandwich croissant and it's consistently good. The workers are always so sweet and if you learn about the history and mission of this place you'll appreciate it even more. It focuses on community empowerment and giving second chances to people by providing them with employment and a place to stay (at least historically I can't confirm if this is still ongoing). Parking can be challenging on busy days but I've always found something if I circle and wait for someone to leave. Be prepared for rain but it makes the ambiance that more peaceful.

Beautiful, charming, arbored setting, this historical tea room serves great breakfast, lunch and pastries with friendly, knowledgeable service. Tables were full on a Friday morning but you still get a relaxed feeling being out in nature. The avocado toast was a nicely balanced combination of two sunny side eggs atop avo and arugula on a thin slice of sourdough. It was perfect for my friend and me to share.'The açaí bowl, served in a cute little coconut bowl, was served with strawberries, blueberries , coconut, and granola which made for good crunch. My friend raved about the pastries and she was not wrong! I agreed the scones are amazing with a nice (not dry) consistency inside and a perfectly slightly browned and crisped top! Her fave is the candied ginger and lemon which was indeed delish! Ube white chocolate was also good. The server recommended the Haupia bread which stood out as a rich scrumptious mixture of coconut goodness like a bread pudding. Muah!

Breakfast bowl (fried rice, egg, bacon, toast) while supplies last. Short rib loco moco. Blueberry scone. Iced coffee. Chai latte.
    Risa L.

Would come back only for the scones! Blueberry scone was delicious, soft and light on the inside. The food menu items were underwhelming. Tried the breakfast bowl; fried rice, scrambled egg, bacon, toast with jam. It was a thin bed of fried rice with bacon bits, a big clump of scrambled eggs, one piece of bacon, toast of the day was good. The short rib loco moco was plain. It was really busy on a Saturday for breakfast, a line to order, a wait for a table, a wait to get the table cleared. Upsides were bakery items, free parking, and being in a historic tea room in Manoa.

Great brunch location. I think they are open until 1. I hear as long as you get there before they close, you can sit for awhile and walk around. The food is really yummy and they make bread and scones that are super good. The location is in Manoa owns the setting is beautiful. First you find parking, which can be hard, since it's so popular but once you find parking enjoy!! Then walk in, order your food && they bring it out to you. There's brunch choices that are so tasty! Choosing a place to sit can be tough too since there are so many different places to sit - inside, outside, on tables, etc. Every single part is amazing so far ... riiiiight??! But the BEST part is their mission! (Since I'm a social worker I absolutely love their mission) Their workers are coming out of programs. I love their history, their mission, and by eating great food && sitting in a totally peaceful place we support people and a great mission!!! The workers are attentive and friendly and the manager walks around.

    Do they have Reservations?

No reservations taken. First come, first served. It's very busy all the time so come early as the line can get 20-30 people deep waiting to place their orders!

Do they still make freshly baked sourdough bread?

You bet we do. It’s available Wednesday thru Saturday And don’t forget about Challah bread on Friday!!

Are the mochi waffles and mochi pancakes on the daily menu or specials?

They're listed as specials, but the specials haven't changed in at least 3 years so I consider them part of the daily menu

Dying to try their gluten-free pastries what do they have besides a delicious gluten-free blueberry muffin which I will definitely get?

What gluten free options are offered?

Eggs and bacon, salads, chicken salad in a half papaya, and gluten free baked goods until they sell out. I enjoyed a great GF blueberry muffin there.

Is breakfast served until they close?

    Yes. Lunch begins at 11.

Are dogs allowed if well behaved?

No, only registered service animals due to the agreements of their lease!

Do they still serve afternoon tea?

Not a formal afternoon tea - but they so offer hot tea (and hot coffee, including French press) and amazing house-baked pastries!

Any chance of breakfast burritos being added to the menu? Just curious :) Thanks for making Waioli…

    No burritos...

Is there wheelchair accessibility and a handicap parking stall?

I believe so, Yes. The parking area is very well situated relative to the business and the floor plan is quite conducive to handicapped mobility.

    Do they take reservations?

As of 7/2022, they do not take reservations, just walk-ins.

What is the number for the WKAB?

    YELP IT ITS THERE

    What are their hours?

Hours are Tuesday - Sunday, 7:30 - 2:30. Closed Mondays.

I can't tell whether this place is open for business yet. Does anyone know?

Yes, Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop IS open for business. They're doing a "soft opening" at the moment though. Call (808) 744-1619 to ask for hours. Food was good!

Every single item on the food and drink menu is crafted with such robust flavor with so much dimension in each bite. So cool to see employees own work on the menu, he shared with us how hard and long he worked on the craft cocktail to make it perfect. Now this is a bartender! Would definitely recommend making a reservation, unless it's just you and maybe one other than the bar is mostly open seating I think. They were very busy but thankfully we had a reservation. We started with the Fete Spread as the appetizer, the spreads are delicious, I like the green one the most, its nutty and slightly earthy The red one is tomatoey n sharper and the white one is creamy and sweet. This app also comes with refillable toast, which we definitely made sure to get another serving of. Then I was going to get the Korean steak as my entrée, however my coworker got it and I wanted to try something different and new so I went with the beef pot pie per the waitress' recommendation. However, I really wasn't that good in my opinion. I felt like the bourbon in the pie filling made it taste off and unappealing to me. Then I got dessert because why not. We got a lilikoi cheesecake from the Millie Fete bakery. I did not like the cheesecake very much as well. The chocolate mousse on top was good, thw cheesecake itself was good as well. However, the crust also had alcohol infused in it, which made it taste off and bitter to me. I even asked my coworkers to taste it and they agreed. We also got a scoop of kulolo ice cream. I didn't realize it was going to ALSO be infused in alc, I think it was rum, so again, the ice cream tasted slightly off to me. Kulolo is already perfect why mess with it... Also my OTHER frustration was that it took an OBSCENE amount of time for the cheesecake and ice cream. Logically, the cheesecake would just need to be plated and the ice cream just scooped. However it took 15-20 minutes for us to get the dessert which is ridiculous in my opinion. THE SECOND TIME I came, it was a slightly better experience. We had the spread and toast appetizer like previously and it was good again. WE also got the quinoa cakes and it was super flavorful and crunchy on the outside. I got the Korean steak this time around because I must try it. It was good, the scallion rice was good, flavorful. The steak was okay, it tasted good but I think it was a bad cut/quality of steak (they said it was ribeye?), but there were a lot of the silverskin/gristle (connective issue that can't be bitten through). Made the overall steak experience very unpleasant. I'm not sure HOW much I'd want to revisit as they have some pretty good dishes but some others are a little worse quality. Plus because of how busy they can get, the service might be a bit lackluster and even frustrating.

The batter was light and crispy with great flavors and had a yummy sauce drizzled on top. It also came with a scoop of rice, buttered corn, and Mac salad. Mac salad was delicious! Prime rib sandwich came with salad and au jus sauce and a side of salad. It's good but also very filling. I didn't try the burger or teriyaki chicken but was told both were delicious. After dinner, we ordered a few items from the bakery to eat on the plane. You have to take a number and wait for them to call it. I got 2 kouign Amannn, 2 Dubai coco puff, and half dozen green tea puff. The kouign amann is a circular croissant. I liked that it was soft and flaky and had a sweet, crispy glaze over it. I walk up to a server putting in and order and say 'table for two please' she looks around and back at another workers and says 'sorry we close at 9:30' to which I quickly say 'I thought you close at 10?' And she goes 'the bakery closes at 10' As we're talking every single worker hurriedly walks away avoiding eye contact. So I said again 'the time on the door says 10pm' her response was 'oh no that's wrong only the bakery is open till 10' Next day I go back at 9pm. First thing I ask the sever 'what time do you close?' Lo and behold '10pm' Again I never make it a habit but we would have been out of there before the other tabes were done eating. Long day at work and I just needed fuel.

The wait actually wasn't that bad, maybe 15 minutes. It is a typically diner, counter seatings only. The service wasn't great, but not rude; they take your order and they bring you the food; no pleasantries or small talks, I guess they need to turn the tables (counter seats) quickly. We had the loco moco with fried rice and hamburger steak with multi-grain rice and toss salad; they didn't offer a choice of dressing, but the default asian dressing was delicious. The food was good with very big portions; I had a hard time finishing my loco moco. They served it with lots of yummy brown gravy, the way it should be. My wife enjoyed her hamburger steak as well. Oh, don't forget to visit the bakery side after eating; they have many super yummy baked goodies!

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

The staff were friendly and very helpful with giving us recommendations. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, and honestly it was too much food for us. We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.
