Meatloaf, green beans, potatoes and jalapeños cornbread- Yum!
    Kimberly R.

Local Joe's in Hendersonville did not disappoint. The food was amazing and the people were so kind and helpful. I even got a free cookie. I will definitely be back. Great addition to our community!

This turkey is so delicious...slight cajun flavor, no spice, just tons of flavor. Moist and oh my goodness, I'm gonna go eat some right now!

WOW! Having dined at this location on several occasions I have found the food to always be top shelf. Fresh, high quality and amazingly flavorful. Their roasted turkey is off-the-chart delicious, roast beef superb and the side items did not come from a can. Everything is fresh made and it is difficult to go wrong. Oh yeah, the cajun snapper is something to try as well. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and professional. Also, believers. This is a family owned and operated business and the staff have been together with Joe for many years. Julia is credit to the company. She is so sweet and cares about the customers in a way that makes you want to come back. She is surrounded by the same caliber of people as herself. Caring, professional and knowledgeable of what is happening and if they don't know, they know where to get the answer...Julia. We ordered one of the turkeys, hams and a quart of gravy for our family Christmas gathering. On the day I was to pick up, I arrived at the appointed time, but....the order was not ready. The order was not done at all. The good news is the whole thing was handled in a way that made me write this review. Not only was everything prepared as described and arrived in a timely manner BEFORE the Christmas gathering started, they brought us a delicious fudge pie for the inconvenience. The pie was outstanding, one of the best fudge pies I ever eaten. The gravy is something like I've never had before. The flavor, texture and consistency was unlike any gravy. I wanted to just eat it as a side item!! Oh, the turkey and ham were, literally, right out of the oven when they were delivered. They were so hot when I was slicing them steam was pouring out and it was extremely hot to the touch!! Do yourself and your family a huge favor and try Local Joes. If you to have one of the best, if not the best, ham and turkey you have served on Thanksgiving or Christmas let Joe and his team prepare it for you. I assure you will not be disappointed. It is truly a pleasure to serve this food at our house and I love going there after church or to meet with my friends for leisurely lunch.

Wonderful meat and three. They use beef tallow! I had the chopped steak and onions, jalapeño cornbread, garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens and a free chocolate chip cookie! The mashed potatoes were the best I've had in a very long time. Everything was fresh tasting and this was after 3pm.The atmosphere is open, clean and cafeteria style with plenty of tables. Happy to see Local Joe's in Hendy.

Place found by accident and so thankful!! Staff were friendly and helpful. I had the catfish, cabbage tomatoes & okra & hush puppies. Best catfish, crispy on the outside and moist inside. Veggies seasoned very well. Restaurant was clean. Owner very nice.

But so many other reviews were positive and my hubby was dying for a burger. Our server was ?Maples? She was kind, fast and brought drink refills with perfect timing, even though she had multiple tables, including a large party of 7 or more. Hubby had the Mojo burger and liked it. My kiddo had a standard burger, she said it was good. Her fries were a little cool. Not cold, but not warm. We also got an order of wings, and loved them. I had thr fried chicken with fried okra and sweet potato fries. The fries were meh, but the okra and chicken were excellent. I would definitely recommend the fried chicken! For dessert we had the peach cobbler and the Presley Parfait. Cobbler was good. The parfait was not my favorite, but if you like like peanut butter you might enjoy it.

We decided to try it again. When this restaurant first opened, it was as good as its other…read morelocations. Then, leadership and personnel very quickly took a nosedive. Written reviews matched our secondary experiences. The service was disjointed, and uncoordinated, and the food, should have never been brought to the table. But the claims of, "Under New Management", offered some hope of reviving the standards that had previously earned their namesakes, reputation and growth. This morning's breakfast experience was an astounding disappointment. Greeted and seated by cordial, pleasant staff, we were a party of 3, occupying only the second table, at 9:15 AM. (That emptiness itself should have been a hint of what was to come.) It took much longer than expected just to get coffee and water. Still longer, to place an order, and nearly half-an-hour for the actual meal service. The quality of the food, was nothing short of astonishingly poor. Most notably, cold. Considering there were only two tables occupied in the entire dining room, the cold servings were the first indication of coordination, communications, process, and standards shortfalls. The food preparation showed the skillsets of a 12 year-old, trying to mimic Mom's kitchen routine. How can a restaurant cook not do toast? It was white bread, with a slightly stiff outer layer. Most people would describe it as, "stale bread"; not toast. The pancakes served with the "Lieper's Fork Favorite", were beyond belief. Three hard little discs, served cold, with chilled hard pats of butter, and NO syrup. I actually demonstrated to the very nice server, that the pancakes could NOT be cut with a fork. Again - could NOT be cut with a fork! Come on... They're PANCAKES! Not a single bite could be sampled, without the utility of a knife. I am not a small person. I tried three places around the brown discs to acquire a bite. Țhe effort was foreboding enough. Ì surrendered. The scrambled eggs and bacon were edible, though lacking temperature, and uncaring presentation. When the server saw that the pancakes were as fork resistant as a Frisbee, she took the plate to the kitchen manager. He was a nice, apologetic young man, who acknowledged that the pancakes were "Overcooked on one side..." He did offer to make more. I declined. I told him I sincerely appreciated his offer. But the issue was much deeper, than plastic pancakes. As indicated by the lack of clientele in a fairly large restaurant, there was a blinding flash of the obvious. They were squandering the owner's investment. The kitchen staff lacked the skillsets to produce the simplest traditional American Breakfast - and - the wisdom to refrain from placing it up for service. The plating looked SO incredibly bad, that it was obvious that both standards and personal pride were totally absent. The staff was nice. Ignorance is curable. Training, processes, and well established standards can develop nice people into effective business associates. It's not their fault. They have NO leadership directions. The owners have let them down. Țhose owners have had ample signals and time to cure these maladies. They have a model, in their other facilities - that's how / why they opened more than one restaurant. But those owners are apparently oblivious to the signals of absentee management, process inconsistency, and the gross lack of product standards, leading to failure. To those nice people working at Puckett's, I have a sincere recommendation. The best time to find a job, is when you already have one. Your current employer is going to fail; sooner rather than later. They will surely continue with their communications shortfalls. They will not tell you in advance. They will simply let you go when they finally lock the doors. Take care of yourself. FInd an employer who has a distinct business survival plan. Such plans, include coordination, process leadership, training, and holding a team accountable to perform to the standards they were trained to. You're not getting that.

I took my mama there that same weekend and the rest is history.. The whole family was hooked. I live out of state, but my mom and son, in Springfield, frequent this place on special days out. They share a birthday, April 9th, and were having a birthday lunch there this afternoon, when I got the idea to call the restaurant to ask if there was any way I could provide a card to cover their lunch, since you pay at the end. I was greeted and helped by the kindest woman, Alicia. She found them, about to leave, and hurried to take my info! She was lovely in the sincerest way. I gave her my phone number if there were any issues. Well, there were, as my lovely mom perused their delightful gift shop area (think Cracker Barrel but better) so long the pre-auth expired and my card declined! LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS The girl who called back to get things squared away was just as darling as could be, I'm sorry I didn't get your name, but thank you. Thanks to all of you for your help :) As for the food, my son said: "incredible, as usual." 5 million star experience every time! The meat and 3 concept is a dying art that they have mastered.

Portions are generous, everything feels fresh and comforting, and it's consistently done well. We've eaten here in person and grabbed it to go on busy nights, and it holds up every time. Our personal favorites are the chicken, pot roast, and meatloaf, all hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving a solid comfort meal. One of the things I love most about this place is that it truly feels like "come as you are." There's no single type of crowd here. You'll see families, business meetings, date nights, people dressed up, people dressed casually, groups of two, groups of four, and even three generations sitting together. It works before or after church, after school, after soccer games, or after work. No judgment, no pressure, just people showing up for great food and a great environment. What really stands out is how respectful and welcoming everyone is. Whether it's a toddler learning to eat, someone needing a little extra space, or a busy group navigating a crowded moment, people are patient, kind, and considerate of one another. The staff and guests alike create an atmosphere that genuinely embodies Southern hospitality. What also makes this place special is how much thought has gone into the overall experience. While you're waiting in line, there are fun and unique extras to browse like recipe books, aprons, and thoughtful items for kids. Nothing feels like filler. It all adds to how warm and homey the space feels for locals and visitors alike. And then there's the dessert area, which deserves its own mention. There's an entire cake station behind a large glass case filled with massive, handmade-from-scratch cakes. You can grab slices, order whole cakes in advance, and even place special holiday dessert orders. It's decadent, impressive, and very hard to walk past without stopping. Even when it's incredibly busy, the team is friendly, efficient, and well organized. Whether dining inside, outside, or picking up food to go, the experience is always smooth and welcoming. Included are a few photos from the first time we ate there in person outside, though we've been back many times since. Shown here are the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll and the roasted chicken with green beans and rosemary roasted potatoes for reference.

Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.
