As I walked in I was greeted with a friendly "morning y'all" and those simple words not only started but defined my experience at this restaurant. This is a restaurant that serves a small southern town. It is by no means fancy, but it fits in Joelton as a welcome member of this community. It provides simple country cooking at a fair price served by friendly servers. In fact, many were greeted by name as they walked in. I had the chicken fried chicken (which was the breakfast and lunch special). I had it with eggs over easy, toast, and home fries. The home fries were good and the eggs properly prepared but the chicken fried chicken and the accompanying white gravy were definitely unspectacular. In fact, I would hazard a guess that the chicken came out of a frozen box and the white gravy came out of a can. As I said, this restaurant will never be written in the pages of culinary history, but it will remain in the memories of countless kids who grew up here as they reminisce about the good old days. read more

Blah very blah $13 and $9 plates of very bland catfish, hamburger steak, and chicken and dumplings. Small extra side dish was $2. Had bland green beans from a can then warmed. The service was nice. Ambiance was that of a small unkept little dirty gas station diner with filthy one toilet restrooms where patrons write things on the wall that you wouldn't want your kids to read. Two adults and two children cost $64 after tip. We had to leave a tip just for the waitress who did an ok (better than average job) It wasn't her fault that the food and presentation was very misleading from the menu options. We were just passing through and looked this one up on Yelp. If this is what small town Tennessee food tastes like, I think I'll pass on it next time and just go hungry. McDonald's would have been a better option this go around. read more

Stopped for breakfast on our way to Nashville, 2 all meat omelettes 2 sides of bacon no other sides and 2 waters came to the ridiculous price of $41+!! This very greasy food, was definitely overpriced! The only saving grace of this restaurant was the service Update; Was contacted and offered a free meal, and told the price was correct. So here I sit in the Country Junction for some breakfast it's clean it's very neat and there is no obnoxious odors emanating from anywhere. However their is a very welcome aroma of bacon so I know that I will be having meat this morning. Stacy is to be my server this morning but she appears ready for anything I dish out. There only five table besides me with diners. But I smell bacon and they certainly have sweet tea because after all coffee has been known to stunt your growth. It doesn't take long for the locals to start piling in. Stacy is handling it all with ease and welcoming them by name. I order the Country Bacon and eggs with grits tomatoes and a side of biscuit and gravy and a sweet tea of course. My breakfast comes out quickly and I have absolutely nothing to complain about nothing! My eggs are fluffy and the onions are cooked I get biscuits, gravy, grits and and the star of the show the bacon! I'm really enjoying my breakfast and the chatter of the locals around me. Everyone is friendly and it appears that this is the place to be I know I will come again. I order another side of bacon because well heck do we need an excuse for more bacon? It's been a really long time since I've been this relaxed amongst strangers. My meal is done it's time to give up this table so others can enjoy the great service along with some bacon. I visit Tennessee several times a year, although I no longer live there. When we come, by unanimous decision, we must stop in a Country Junction. We are always greeted like family and know the food will be good. We are from central Indiana and they don't have these type of restaurants. The wonderful breakfast and the meat and three. Northerners have no idea what a meat and three is all about. I have been going for years and Christys food is consistently wonderful. First time here. I will be back. I myself do not like catfish but LOVED this all you can eat fried catfish. I was talked into it and really glad I was. We ate there twice, once for dessert only and then for breakfast. For desserts, we had BlackBerry cobbler ( decent), German chocolate cake and banana split ( both pretty good), and butter pecan cake ( divine). The young waitress was a trip, and we immediately made plans for breakfast the next morning. The same waitress greeted us the next morning as cheerfully as the night before. We had eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and fried potatoes. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuits and gravy were good. Bacon was crispy. The only disappointment was the fried potatoes. They were almost mushy, but still tasted decent. It's easily walking distance to the hotel, and seems to have good business. This is the third time I've been in and definitely the last. It took 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. 3 tables were there after us, one ordered and got their food before our order was taken. The other two ordered and got their food before our food arrived. The waitress finally took our order saying how sorry she was for our wait, however she continued to bring several tables their order prior to ours. They were also 'out of hot tea', brought cold coffee to the table, the man in the kitchen was kind enough to stop the busboy from slamming the dishes into his buckets- it was very loud and distracting. I love a good breakfast diner and I've made it a point to give each such place within a 20 mile radius of my house a try since settling into the area. Country Junction has the following going for it: it's clean, service is friendly, and food is pretty good. Some food is REALLY good--eggs were cooked to order perfectly, sausage was delicious, bacon was solid. Hash browns, home fries and grits all solid to just short of great. Biscuits were a tad dry and gravy was pretty basic (and got cold really quickly). Coffee was suitable. There's plenty of room in here...though our waitress had a section WAY too large as a result (I think she was waiting on us and about 14 other tables at the same time) but she did a great job regardless (though she did forget my coffee refill and did apologize for doing so). I'd like to come back and give lunch and/or dessert a shot as the options looked good...oddly enough the lunch prices looked cheaper than the breakfast prices as this one, while much cheaper than your average Nashville city brunch was higher than most comparable county diner breakfasts. read more

This is one of my favorite haunts in the Nashville area. The dinners are good, but breakfast is wonderful! This is the place the retired old men tend to meet for breakfast, but those are the best places. It's inexpensive and the food is quality. The service can be on the slow side (hence the 4-Star), but it's definitely worth the time and gives you time to have some conversation. Chicken on chicken biscuit was seasoned well and very juicy. Grits, pancakes, eggs, sausage and ham were all good. Will definitely go back next time we are in Nashville. We went back for a to-go order this morning before we got on the road back home. Breakfast sandwiches and chicken biscuits did not disappoint! My family was looking for a place to stop for something homemade on a long road trip. Another review mentioned "turnip greens" and that sold us on stopping here. If you're going to Country Junction you have to order appropriately. Crinkle cut fries with a chicken sandwich won't cut it. I had chicken and dumplings, lima beans, potatoe (them not me) pancakes, and corn bread. My family had blackened catfish, deviled eggs, turnip greens, pickled beets, and rolls. The dumplings, catfish, and beets were top notch. My wife loved the greens, but they were too much like cooked spinach for my taste buds. The corn bread was more like a cornbread unsweet pancake than a muffin - unique and good. The "Southern" stickers and political views here are 100% opposite of my taste. But I'd go here again and again. My only complaint was just a touch too much oil on the corn bread. read more

My boyfriend had eaten there twice before without me, though, and he assured me it was fine. I wish we could give half stars on Yelp. I would've rated Country Junction 2.5 stars out of 5 if I could. So we stopped in one day last week for a late breakfast. I ordered the sausage and cheese omelet, fried potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. He ordered pork tenderloin with fried eggs. I actually really enjoyed my omelet. It was full of giant chunks of sausage. It was, however, almost unbelievably oily. I'm going to guess that the eggs are just cooked on a heavily oiled griddle. It tasted good, but I've never seen such a shiny, greasy omelet. My boyfriend's tenderloin was really tough. And unfortunately my favorite part of any breakfast -- the biscuits and gravy -- was kind of a bummer, too. Although he assured me that the biscuits were "perfect" the last two times he ate there, we received biscuits that were just short of burned. I took the plate that was less overdone and left him with a couple of hard, brown pucks. The gravy was probably made from a mix, but it tasted fine. I wouldn't be averse to trying Country Junction again at lunch or dinner time. read more

I am really trying to be kind here as I live in Joelton. Yes, I am a trained chef but I keep my expectations on par. Yesterday was our second "try" here. What is killing me is that yes, while the prices are dirt cheap the food is way below dirt cheap quality. If I am dining out, it is a treat, not a necessity. Is it that hard to put a little effort into decent food? For goodness sake, it is breakfast. Salt and pepper your premixed gravy. If I order my eggs with yolks runny but nothing else runny do not bring me snotty eggs. When I send them back do not send me the same eggs you threw back on and did not flip and now I have something gross on my plate. Here is the thing, this would have been a glowing review if the waitress would have been on top of things. It would be nice to see folks put some love into this place and the food it serves. read more

Traditional Southern "Meat 'n Three" restaurant, The food here is excellent, home style, Southern fare. My favorite is the all day breakfast. I get the half ham breakfast that comes with country ham, eggs, biscuits, and choice of two styles of potatoes or grits. Delicious! If I'm extra hungry I might even add a pancake. Yum! The service is friendly and usually efficient. The place is really hoppin' on Sundays after church. Try it out. read more

The store was clean. The employees were very polite and courteous. Orders were taken promptly and we received our drinks and food very quickly. The food was pretty generic and most seemed like it was purchased prepared and the "cooking" was just cans opened and frozen food heated, but nothing tasted bad or seemed old.
