Stay clear of this company. I booked two buses for my daughters wedding -one showed up 25 minutes late and the other 45 minutes late . In a panic I tried to call but could not get through to anyone. . I never got a call to inform me they were on the way . No communication whatsoever, so I assumed they just weren't coming. Many of my guests quickly found alternate transportation . When they finally came the second bus left empty sInce the riders had already left. After the fact , when I dealt with the company they said the problem was they had used subcontractors which they had assured me that they did not use them when I signed the contract . Then they had the gall to try to charge me for the second empty bus. This is a horrible company. Go anywhere else. read more

This company sucks. They are located on the street where I work and I am constantly having issues with their drivers blocking my business and parking lot just to walk away from running trucks, door wide open and keys in the ignition. I have had my workers unable to make it to jobsites on time because they pull up behind 5 vehicles and prevent us from leaving, or block the entrance to our gate that leads out back. I have politely tried to ask the drivers to stop, but each time I ask it seems that they park here more, not less. The drivers also have a massive attitude when I ask them to move from blocking my parking lot, and I have had words with at least 2 of their drivers because of this. If this is the quality of their drivers, then I can only imagine that this company is horrible from the ground up. I have tried to call their office to talk with anyone in management but all I get is sent to voicemails that no one ever answers. If I am having this good of a time with this company and I am not even a customer, I wonder what the rider experience is like. I am not sure how they have such a good rating when they clearly do not care about other people, quite literally the thing their company is based on. read more

Local Motion was terrific!!! I booked a full motor coach to transport wedding guests from their hotel to the ceremony, and then to the reception and back. My quote request was answered promptly by Jessy, along with any questions I had. I had to make a time adjustment a few days before the event, and Jessy said it would be no problem, and it wasn't. The day of the wedding, the bus arrived on time with the air conditioning running. It was unbelievably clean and comfortable. Our driver, Marcello, was simply the best. He went above and beyond accomodating my guests. This was my first time requesting transportation, and Local Motion exceeded my expectations. The woman booking the trip was confused and had no idea how to book. The manager was rude and would not agree that mistake was made on their part. Buyer beware. WILL LEAVE YOUR PEOPLE BEHIND Drivers can be incredibly rude and leave people 5 seconds late and/or 1 foot away from the bus behind. Seems like some of the drivers are more interested in teaching people how to tell time as opposed to actually doing their job as a transportation service. Maybe their corporate office does not empower drivers to be flexible in bus times by mere seconds. Maybe they just hire incredibly rude drivers with no sense of humanity or empathy. In any case, do not hire this company if you want to have happy passengers. I had a fantastic experience with Local Motion of Boston for transportation for my wedding. I spoke with Lisa who was very helpful and friendly on the phone -- she gave me 20% off the price since I was getting quite a bit of service. Unfortunately, you have to book the buses in 4 hour time blocks so that made things a little complicated to set up -- since I needed a block of time much larger than that -- (re: you can't book one set of drivers before the wedding and another set after the wedding) but I managed to find a solution. I booked one bus to make 3 trips back and forth shuttling people from Coolidge Corner Marriott to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum (starting at 4:00) and a second bus to shuttle guests starting at 5:45. That saved quite a bit of money right there. Shuttling is the way to go because you can make as many trips as you want -- since you're paying a flat rate for the four hour time block. The first shuttle was for my wedding party (4:00pm), then Russ's wedding party)(4:45pm), and then 50 wedding guests (5:45pm) -- then I arranged for a second bus to start also shuttling people at 5:45pm. They dropped the guests off right at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum for the ceremony to start -- which worked out awesomely -- then the buses came back for 4 more shuttles starting at 11pm. All this cost about $1,100 -- which I think is a fair price to get everyone to our venue so they could drink and not drive! The buses were clean, fun, on time and the drivers were also VERY nice. I would totally use Local Motion again and recommend it to all brides. FYI, the School Buses were great -- they don't have air condition so their best for short trips but they cost WAY less than the large buses and worked awwwesomly. I especially liked the drunken (us not the driver) bus ride home. It was legendary. read more

Our family had a terrible experience in which the Father of the Bride was treated so rudely by one of their drivers that it was an embarrassing experience for many wedding guests who overheard the interaction. An awful ending to an otherwise wonderful day. We were looking for a way to transport 50+ guests to/from our venue (ceremony/cocktail/reception all in one site) - from two hotels in Westford, MA, roughly 15 minutes away....to keep our guests from having to worry about getting there, and to prevent drinking and driving. We looked into limos, coaches, etc...but as our wedding was at a barn (Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA) - school buses seemed fun & fitting. I e-mailed for a quote (last year), and within a day heard from Jessy. Over the weeks and months, our needs/ideas changed a little bit...and I'd discuss changes with Jessy, and same day - have a new quote. The price was MORE than fair, we were able to add gratuity right to our AmEx (one less thing to worry about), and the service was quick, efficient, 100% on-time...and certainly affordable. FYI: We got 2 buses to go from hotels to venue....then 1 bus left, and the other bus remained and did 2 round-trips back to the venue near the end / after the wedding. Weddings are a lot of work...if you need group transportation... definitely consider Local Motion - it will be one less thing to worry about, because they will take care of things without a problem, without any catches, and without any small print. Local motion was amazing! Our bus driver Ryan was great! We had a pre-prepared itinerary but one of the 5 days we were there it poured down rain the entire day and he worked around our new suggested inside activities w/o any hassle. He was very nice and informative. He was always on time and made sure we were accommodated to the best of his abilities. We were a group of 16, the bus we had each day was always up to pare. Very clean and smooth rides everywhere we went. If we are ever in the Boston area again I would definitely go to them first and suggest to anyone traveling there to book with them! Do not do business with this company. They are very sketchy. One of their charter buses hit our retaining wall and took a six inch gouge out of it. I contacted the folks who had hired the charter and they referred me to Laura Armendi, in Local Motion's HR Dept. Ms Armendi further referred me to Randy Eaton, CFO. Mr Eaton did not want to put it through his insurance company. He told me to get an estimate and the company would "likely" reimburse us for it. So basically he's trying to duck his insurance company, which means he's had enough of these types of accidents that his insurance rates are gonna take a hit. And "likely" reimburse means he has no intention paying for repairs that his employee and vehicle have caused. read more

We had some issues last year with Local Motion but they dealt with all of them and did a great job with an annual event we use them for. In life nobody doesn't make a mistake, it is how they act to resolve the mistakes that show what a company is really made of, and they really came through. Then this year, even with bad weather they were on time, professional and personable. Their driving was very safe and it was great to see them following all the driver fatigue regulations to the letter. The bus itself had everything functioning properly, outlets that worked! and was very clean. I would say that their work is better than most but it actually cost less than other quotes we had received. I would highly recommend working with them. read more

My school uses this company to transport students and I have only had negative experiences (well- not as negative as could be I suppose... since I'm still alive). But very very tardy drivers with poor knowledge of the Boston area, and a management system with little common sense. Mix these elements together and you get the kind of service that makes you wish you'd just put your students on a public bus instead! We used a 30-passenger bus for a corporate outing. The driver was rude and miserable, but worse he was a terrible driver. He frequently straddled two lanes of the highway and was constantly alternating between the gas and brake, making everyone sick. He nearly threw me through the front windshield stopping short because I was in the front row. I emailed the company about my experience and didn't hear back. Disappointing customer service. My wife takes the Local Motion shuttle that runs from Crown Colony office park to Quincy Adams and had a very troubling experience this evening. She was the only person on the shuttle when the driver all of a sudden pulled into an empty parking lot, got out, looked around, got back on and asked where she was going. When she told him the company name and the address, he said, "We don't go there." This is not the first time she has taken the shuttle so she knew it was not true. When he said for a 2nd time that they do not go where she was going, she asked to get off and started walking. The driver then followed her and pulled up to the sidewalk she was on. He asked her to "point on a map" where she was going and she had to yell at him to leave her alone in order for me to get back in his shuttle. Obviously, she was incredibly shaken after the experience as this is something that should never happen. ::EDIT:: After receiving a message from the shuttle manager, Bob B, my wife spoke to him and was personally apologized too. While the situation should not have happened to begin with, she and I feel better knowing that it is being handled by the company and that complaints like this are not taken lightly. read more

On time, professional, clean and very reasonably priced!!!!!! I am so happy that we used this company for our transportation needs for our wedding. They were on time, early actually, for all phases of transportation. The driver knew exactly where we were going and was very professional. We had two different busses (one of the girls and one for the boys) and the bus for the boys even stopped part way to the venue so they could take some pictures. Very accommodating!!! I worked with JJ, and she was beyond helpful in reserving the vehicles and providing suggestions for timing throughout the wedding day. She was also very sweet and funny! On the day of the wedding, the drivers were on time, friendly, and even played the mix CD we made for the wedding guests! They were also very flexible and accommodating when the bridal party ran late. The buses we rented were clean and pretty much perfect for the quick 15 minute ride to the venue. Working with Local Motion was an excellent experience from start to finish. Having never chartered a bus before, I did a lot (a LOT) of checking around before making a final decision, and when it came to price and service, there was just no comparison. Not only was their quote the lowest, it was also the most prompt. Working through the final details over the phone was a breeze. The bus itself was immaculate, seemingly brand new, and very comfortable. The driver was courteous and arrived 15 minutes early. The ride was smooth enough that the adults who wanted to sleep could, while the children in our group enjoyed being able to watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on the DVD player. (There were also inputs for attaching an audio device like an iPod). I still can hardly believe the deal we got. i would recommend Local Motion to any group without hesitation, and we will be using their services again the next time we need this kind of transportation. Lisa, a Local Motion transportation coordinator who first answered the phone, was exceptional and had us booked and ready to go in a matter of minutes. Our driver, Rodini,was patient, polite, flexible, kind, and knew exactly where he was going the entire time. The whole experience with Local Motion was just fabulous from when I first spoke with Lisa on the phone the day before our bus tour to being dropped back off at the airport at the end of our day. We chartered a bus for 55 of us going to the Women's March on DC and the experience was ideal. Our driver Dennis was charming, a really excellent driver, entirely patient with us and with all the traffic etc. involved in such a big event. Everything was entirely on schedule. There was plenty of room in the overhead spaces and in the spaces below for luggage. The bus was brand new, which was an extra treat. We hired buses from Local Motion for our wedding over ten years ago and had a similarly excellent experience back then. Got in touch with Local Motion based on the great reviews I saw on Yelp for guest transportation for my wedding. I was underwhelmed for sure by the customer service - I submit a request online and didn't hear back for about 2 1/2 weeks. They were very responsive immediately after that request, until I started to try to negotiated based on another quote that I had received. They basically decided not to respond when I asked them to revise their quote to beat another quote that I had received, and by the time I got them to pay attention to my request again, they claimed that fuel charges had gone up and they could no longer even honor their orignal quote. I had been communicating with Jessy for about two weeks leading up to my wedding about our transportation needs. She gave us a quote, we had some back and forth, and I said please let me know what you need in order to secure our reservation. I wrote that I've got a credit card ready to go and I'd like to know what their procedure is. She said they needed a detailed itinerary and we would be good to go. I sent it and asked an additional question about the type of vehicle, assuming that we had complied with the reservation process. I sent this email earlier in the day. Jessy got back to me the next day to say that as of 6pm the night before (well after my prior email), they had reserved their last vehicle and they could no longer accommodate my request. This was 3 days before my wedding!!!!!!!!!! She emailed me a few other transportation companies, one of whom was able to help me out. I thought I had secured my reservation properly. I actually understand that this was a little last minute and informal, but I would have appreciated a phone call, or even some indication that it was going to be a busy weekend for them and were running out of vehicles quickly. We used Local Motion services as part of a graduate school event at Harvard. We arranged for 2, 50-person buses to pick us up at Harvard and take us downtown. We had an excellent experience. The buses were there on time, drivers friendly, and the whole process was seamless from start to finish. What makes me really recommend Local Motion is because of something that happened after. One of our classmates left his camera on the bus. Not only did Local Motion find the camera, but they even hand delivered it back to Harvard so we didn't have to drive to their headquarters and pick it up. OUTSTANDING - We planned a Boston Harbor Cruise for a High School Grad party. To get most people there from the Framingham area, we hired a shuttle for thirty-five guests. Bruce Barrows and his team were great in all stages of the planning, but the best was when the shuttle was a few minutes late. We received a call from the dispatcher that the vehicle had run into traffic in Framingham, but was close by. We normally do not write reviews but we were so impressed by the quality of service we received from Local Motion, we really wanted others to enjoy the same experience. We hired Local Motion to do the transportation for our July 2014 Cape Cod wedding. We live in Connecticut, along with most of our friends and family, so the majority of our guests were staying at hotels in the Hyannis area. Local Motion provided two main things for us. First, they picked up guests prior to the ceremony and dropped off guests after the reception at two hotel locations. Secondly, they set up a smaller 14-passenger vehicle to shuttle the wedding party to a local beach for pictures prior to the ceremony. Hair and make-up that morning was running 90 minutes behind schedule. We were concerned we didn't have enough time for the 14-passenger vehicle to get to the beach and back before the ceremony. We decided to take a chance and go for the beach pictures. The driver could not have been more accommodating. Not only did he get us to the beach and back promptly without delay, he communicated with the larger bus transporting guests from the hotel and asked that bus to delay leaving the hotel for a few minutes to afford us a bit of extra time. The driver of our smaller shuttle requested this extension without us even asking, having the foresight to contact the larger bus to make our day run more smoothly. We give this example to show how experienced and professional these drivers and this company are. Having our wedding in July, we expected a warm day. The temperatures were high and taking pictures by the beach got a little uncomfortable. The driver of our small shuttle was standing outside with fresh water for us when we returned and the vehicle was nice and air-conditioned. It goes without saying that the buses were immaculate and in beautiful condition. The bus drivers were incredibly friendly and pleasurable to work with. In terms of transportation companies, we are overjoyed we chose Local Motion. They were accommodating, friendly, affordable, and on the ball every second of our special day! What happened on 4/7 was simply inexcusable, mostly because it didn't happen at all. I was among several teachers, who, with their high school aged students, showed up at 5:30 am to board a bus that was chartered by a local human rights group to take us all to New York for Amnesty International's annual "Get on the Bus" event. Six am came and went, and then another 10 minutes, and then another 10 minutes. Finally, our bus captain told us what had occurred: someone at Localmotion got the date wrong! They thought that the event was the 17th of April, despite numerous dealings back and forth and all paperwork from the event organizers clearly stating it was the 7th. So...you can imagine our frustration. Parents had dropped off their kids (an early morning even for those humans who are not teenagers), and now we have kids standing around freezing at Alewife while other transportation options are frantically explored. We eventually were able to board a "Go" bus which left much later, got to New York in a different location than we previously intended, and missed a significant portion of the event (which took place at Cooper Union Hall, which LocalMotion was supposed to drop us of at...if they remembered to pick us up in the first place). Since we were there for just the day, it was cut drastically short by someone's sheer incompetence. It is truly astounding how a company that operates in the world of schedules and timeliness can be so negligent. I highly doubt the group will want to use this company again after this unfortunate episode. read more

One of these buses just cut me off in a very dangerous, it refused to merge into 95S in Connecticut, with no indicator just start to move into my lane (which is clearly marked an exit lane) from a lane that has numerous left arrows indicating it is ending, the bus drove right up to the end of that entrance/merge lane and started to move into my lane where I was along side of it and then when that lane, the exit lane I was in, exited off of the highway, it crossed over the lined traffic triangle to cut off some other person, never using it's left indicator to show that it was even trying to merge. read more

I am a strong believer that when people or organizations do something right or outstanding it is important to recognize them. One of the Local Motion school bus drivers, Jean DeLicence, is worthy of special acknowledgement for his work. Thanks to the professionalism and sensitivity demonstrated daily by Jean DeLicence, the driver on this route, our quality of life is greatly enhanced. Jean is a quiet and earnest worker, who demonstrates great care in not only performing his job well, but also shows concern for the students in his charge. Jean is consistently on time each morning and afternoon. He greets the families with a firm nod and wave. He takes the extra few minutes to check in with parents if he sees that a family is missing or safely waits if he sees one of the family's cars pulling up (note: the families are rarely late as we are respectful to the Jean and each other). Jean is always respectful and appropriate to the students and parents. He tends to keep a watchful eye out for the younger students. I have never observed an unruly or unmanaged environment on the bus. The students also genuinely seem to respect and care about Jean. When the returning families saw that Jean was the driver again assigned the route this year, we collectively sighed and smiled. I am confident that my child will arrive safely and on-time to school or home each day thanks to Jean DeLicence. He very deservedly has earned appreciation and respect for his going above and beyond what is expected. read more

Do NOT use Local Motion if you want your kids to get home safely. The school I work for recently hired LM to pick up approximately 40 students from a school event and drop them off at their homes at the end of the night. After dropping off ONE student, the driver of one of the busses pulled over to the side of the road, told the students he had to go and that another driver would come and take them the rest of the way, and then left them. Alone. He left the remaining students alone on the bus in a not-so-great neighborhood to wait for the new driver to come and take them the rest of the way. No one called the contact person from the school, and we did not find out about this incident until the next morning. Obviously, as soon as we heard what happened, we contacted Local Motion immediately to sort things out. Initially, Charlene the Transportation Coordinator was extremely sympathetic and just as horrified as we were about what happened. She had the company's owner, Bill, call us back to discuss further. His response? "This is not the type of work we typically do or want to do." I'm sorry - you're a bus company. With school busses. Picking up a group of students and dropping them off at home isn't what you do? So - if what you need is a bus company to get people safely from one place to another, Local Motion has made it clear that that is not the type of work that they do. After some miscommunications with other local bus companies I found myself with no bus less than two hours before I needed to get fifty people to an ALS fundraiser on a Saturday night. I was up the creek in a major way. After explaining the situation to an operator I was connected with the owner of the company. (Try reserving a bus less than two hours before your deadline in a city whose buses are completely booked and you will understand how daunting this task was) The owner found me a bus within minutes that was affordable, clean and driven by a friendly and helpful driver. The bus arrived on time without a hitch and this guy basically saved the day and helped a good cause.
