Sitting on the outdoor patio at LOCAL Public Eatery Gastown on a sunny day was peaceful and happy. We were welcomed by the host with a warm smile, and we even got to watch two cute dogs relaxing with their owners at a nearby table. We ordered three dishes, and every single one of them was delicious--served at the right temperature, with fantastic textures and spot-on seasoning. To start, the LOCAL Fried Chicken with hot honey and sliced pickles was finger-licking good. It was just the right amount of spicy and sweet, with a wonderfully crispy exterior. Next came the Pinche Pork Tacos. To our surprise, these were the best tacos we have tasted so far in Vancouver- even better than traditional Mexican restaurants. The warmed-up soft shells were fully loaded with soft, slow-cooked pork, crunchy shredded cabbage, tangy feta, and fresh cilantro. We are already planning to try the fish tacos on our next visit. Finally, the Fully Loaded Crispy Potatoes turned out to be something quite different from what we expected when we read the menu. They featured thin-layered, stacked potatoes paired with savory bacon and spicy jalapeño, all bound together by a parmesan horseradish aioli sauce. The potato stacks were warm, moist in the center, and crispy on the outside all at the same time, offering an incredible mix of flavours and textures that we truly enjoyed. We will definitely want to come back on another sunny day before summer is over to soak in the good life.

Stopped by for brunch and to watch the World Cup match. Service was pretty good for being so busy. I got the eggs benny and it was not bad. On the smaller side with the eggs on a single slice of toast, but the potatoes were very good.

This place is great. It's loud and noisy but it's a fun upbeat environment. There is outdoor seating. They even have rain guards and heaters for those rainy days. They had hockey and basketball games on. Full bar. Lots of drink options. The food was delicious. Not one compliant. The Sriracha chicken was spicy but that's exactly what we wanted. The service was amazing. She was on it and answered allll our questions and was so sweet and kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Stopped by on a Sunday and had a great experience. Staff were friendly and helpful, with plenty of seating available. Parking in front is limited, but there are nearby spots within walking distance. Shoutout to Megan for being so welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The place was clean, including the restrooms, and there were plenty of food and drink options. I had the beef tacos. I think I came in with high expectations, but they were still good. The meat was a little dry, the sauce wasn't as spicy as I expected, and the tortilla tended to fall apart, but overall I still loved them and would come back again. Burger and nachos were both 10/10! Great local spot with excellent service :) def coming back again.

Second visit happy hour was great.

The space is big and clean. We were seated quickly both times we visited. The drinks were delicious and the food was great. The edamame I will dream of forever the sauce is 10/10 I even asked if they sell it. Sadly no. My husband got a burger and enjoyed it. My sister got the dumplings they were good. We will definitely have to come back when we visit the area again. The next day we came for happy hour. Again the food was great service was friendly the crispy potato bits were delicious.

We came here for dinner and drinks during a weekend getaway. Night one we loved it so much we returned for Happy Hour the next night. The star of the show, you ask? The Beermosa with pineapple and the Casamigos margarita were amazing! But the tru showstopper is the smoky chili edamame! This app was so good we had to come for round two! We also loved the potstickers and layered potato bites. The Happy Hour menu is the way to go because all our favs were available at discount. Wait staff is fantastic and the ambiance is such a fine vibe.

Amazing spot on a sunny day because the patio is huge and always busy. I ordered a curry rice with prawns and the taste was good, but the rice could be better.

The waitress was great. Very personable and attentive. The ambiance was upbeat with music playing and loud enough for bop to it but low enough to have a conversation. The salad was light but filling and packed with flavors.

Amazing. Sexy. Hygge. Relevant. Fun music. Hockey on TV. Great menu options. Friendly staff. Loved it.

I've been to LOCAL twice and sadly both times the service was EXTREMELY slow and I don't think I'll be going to this restaurant again. At the door it says they open at 10am on weekends, we got there at 10:20am. The restaurant was open but we weren't allowed in because they were waiting for their servers to come in. They had empty tables and had multiple people waiting in line outside. They could have at least let us take a seat and offer some water. We were finally seated after 30 mins (this whole time those tables were empty.) We still had to wait 20 mins for the server to come take our order. Then after another 30 mins of wait our food finally came. Nobody came to check on us after the food was served. The food & drinks are good but is it worth the wait? No. Both times when we visited this restaurant, it looked like they had so many empty tables and we thought we were going to get seated & served right away. It was such a disappointing experience.

We were lucky to get a seat right in front of the tv to watch a Canuck's playoff game after work during the 3rd period. The room was buzzing with Canucks fans. We ordered nachos which were made perfectly and a refreshing sassy sangria crush. Although it was busy, the service did not disappoint. We enjoyed our time here so much that we came back a couple days later for the 2 for 1 Local burger special. Again, it was busy and service was top notch.

My husband said the roast beef was ok, but the Yorkshire puddings were more like bread. Both our dinners were served lukewarm. Everything was undercooked and under seasoned. Their "brunch burger" is a major missed opportunity though... this really should have a fried egg on it. You could possibly add an egg from the ala carte section of the menu, but those cost $3, so you'd be looking at $27 for a burger and a half a cup of fried potatoes. That's insanely expensive. Currently the brunch burger has two small patties which have a tendency to overcook and become dry. My patties were well-done despite me asking for medium - don't even ask if the kitchen can't deliver. Not sure what makes that a brunch burger, but it would be much better if those two patties were combined into one, and a fried egg was added, while staying below a $24 price point expensive burgers in Vancouver. Other restaurants can do it.... Oh, the other disappointing thing is that the card reader defaults to tips at 18, 25, and 28%. Not cool - we already pay servers high wages in BC, tipping should be 10% if not eliminated altogether. 28%? No thanks!
