Wonderful restaurant in Amalfi with great service and food. We stopped in after some shopping locally and were greeted warmly. We had great service during out visit. We had pesto pasta, fish, meatballs and spaghetti with clams. All were super yummy. Our servers were great and had a great rapport with each other and made the experience all the better. Terrible experience. Rude welcome from the staff as if we were a burden when we entered. Since we weren't too hungry we were going to share a couple of pizzas between four people. Nope. Not even close to a 3.5, look at the amount of 1 star ratings. Service is AWFUL, staff treats locals different than tourists. Less than average pizza you can get in Disney, Caesar dressing is out of a bottle, could be Kraft. Prices are high, all around bad experience. For example, everyone must order one plate each as a requirement including pizza. Wound up being a blessing to leave this review. Would not have known how bad food outside of pizza was had not been forced to order. Tourists came in and staff told them restaurant was closed, locals walked in all night long and they sat them. 3.5 average rating is a gift, must be from bogus third world country AI inputs. Keep in mind this is south of Italy so people naturally have an attitude. I was sat down quickly and offered water. I ordered a pasta carbonara and mushroom ravioli. This was probably the best in town. It's authentic and was loaded with lots of flavor. The pasta here sits lightly which is such a great thing being in Italy. My partner and I were trying to track down some fritto misto in Amalfi (which was surprisingly difficult). We say that this place had it so we stopped in to get some. Turns out they have a one plate per person minimum so we had to order a second dish (octopus with buratta) and also got two beers. Feed was good (as good as some of the fritto misto we've had in Venice, octopus was bland though), but was put off by the two plate per minimum. read more

We've learned to never trust Yelp reviews in Italy anymore because the low rating here is not deserved. After being in this beautiful country for 3 days, this was our favorite meal so far. The server was extremely nice and made sure everything was perfect for us. He even gave us a hook to put our bags on the table. The food was also amazing, the pizza was even better than the pizza we had in Naples. The drinks were also great and relatively large. To top it off, prices were fair, paying only around €60 for pizza, two main dishes, and two drinks. Will definitely be recommending to others in the area! read more

My wife and I are on vacation in Sorrento and booked a boat excursion to Amalfi and Positano Coast and found this restaurant. We were in a rush because of the limited time frame the skipper gave us to explore Amalfi. The service was quick and kind, they accommodated us with smiles and spoke english well. My girlfriend and I enjoyed dinner here after a wonderful day exploring Amalfi. I had the grilled octopus which was served over some fried potatoes. The octopus was cooked perfectly. Service was attentive, and the food was so-so. The best item we had was the Caprese, so if you simply must dine or have an aperitif here, our group of four enjoyed the freshy fresh mozzarella. I was not familiar with the concept of paying a cover fee to sit outside, so that was a surprise, but apparently common throughout the region. There are scenic eateries on every turn, so if your concern is the view then Locanda Del Marinaio can't be beat. If your priority is food, be prepared for a maximum of 'decent'. read more

Avoid! Do yourself a favor and go to another place. Pizza was terrible. Burnt and the waiter says it's the Napoli style...are you kidding me? There is no style in the world where they purposefully burn things down and make you eat it. Pasta was bland, I had better pasta at a food stand in the streets of Rome. My wife and I were searching for a place to eat while in Amalfi. With a dozen options or so, and few yelp reviews, we were in uncharted waters and had to figure out where to eat the old school way: spy on what others are eating, investigate their menus, and hope for the best. She spotted Locanda del Marinaio and after a 30 second due diligence process we decided to sit down. The service was great and we had a great street side table. I ordered the pizza Taramia and she had the arugula salad and grilled chicken. The pizza was pretty good; fresh vegetables, good sauce and sausage. The chicken, on the other hand, was a little bland. Altogether though, we liked the place and recommended it on the spot to others who seemed to follow our diligence process. Based on our "instant yelp" another couple also sat down and the place started to fill up. Long story short, I'd definitely give this place a shot. Eh, wandered in here because we were craving pizza and were too lazy to plan ahead for dinner. Pizza was decent, had the pizza with buffalo mozzerella. Crust was nice and crispy but the middle of the pizza was pretty soggy and watery. Service was average. Probably wouldn't come back with all the good places to eat, this place seemed pretty touristy. read more

Nice little Italian joint in Amalfi. Came here with my fiancé on the last night we stayed and the service was great. Impressive considering how busy it was, and the food was put out pretty quickly. That being said the pasta she ordered was a little - she got the seven flavors pasta. I got the salted cod and it was tasty but came on a chickpea purée that was lacking in flavor. I tend to agree with the other reviews of this place... The food is pretty good (my husband thought this was one of this favorite Margherita pizzas in Italy though! ...). The service was a bit slower than other places we've eaten at in the area. Sat outside (which was nice), but located right next to the stop light, so every so often you get a big line of cars waiting in the street next to you. It's worth a stop if you want to eat on the main road through amalfi and watch the people. There are likely better options out there though if you're looking for a good experience and meal. read more

I am born in the USA but my entire family from my parents, grandparents & aunts & uncles on both sides are born in Italy. I am aware that some waiters/owners of Italian restaurants have attitudes but this place does not have food good enough to justify it. Restaurant was recommended by the Hotel around the corner, Hotel Residence on the main street, where we stayed 3 nights and the staff was extremely accommodating. I have found in our annual trips to Italy that if a restaurant is good, we'll go back to it. Once was enough here & I am going back to Italy next year with family(8 members) & they will not be seeing us. We ordered Linguini(or a long pasta, I forgot) with Vongole(clams) and it said "Tradizionale" which like a "Pasta alla Scoglio" with crustaceans usually comes in a white sauce only, olive oil, garlic, parsley & juice from the seafood. But my family is from the south and I like Tomatoes and I asked if they could chop 2-3 cherry tomatoes or a tomato in it. Nope, this is the way they serve it was the response. Mind you, I didn't ask for a ladle of tomato sauce which I am sure they had but a half minute chop of a tomato and put it in raw. I was reminded of being in Tuscany and having a "Bistecca ala Fiorentina" and it usually comes "Al Sangue", bloody rare. When I requested it medium rare, the waiter said "cosi si fa", this is the way it is done. I reminded him that dining these days is not just good food but service too. I then asked to put the steak on the grill for 1 min more each side and they did and made it enjoyable. As I am Italian, I dip my bread in olive oil. My wife requested butter and the waiter said "No"! If they have no butter, fine, but many Italian dishes use olive oil and butter to cook. One time at another restaurant the waiter got some from the chef and it was a huge slab...they were making a statement...and I said "Caspita" si puo fare la Fettuccine Alfredo (wow, you can make Fettuccine Alfredo with this amount of butter) con questo burro....jokingly. And, you know, I am aware that Italians don't put cheese on seafood dishes but my wife likes it. Nope, couldn't get any. The restaurant is ultra modern yet they are adamant about serving linguini with clams only in a white sauce because it is traditional. Their food is not a buffet but made to order. They'd should contemporize their attitude toward giving customers what they want or, at least, be a little more flexible. read more

Their set menu for €20 is a really good value. The "pressed salmon" starter is very good, as is their pasta. All the portions were just the right size, and dessert was the perfect ending to the evening. Delicious! read more
