I broke a key to my mobility scooter and couldn't get the key portion out of the lock. I tried several different things, failing each time. I started to use my glu gun as Google said it would work. However, a little voice in my head said don't. Went by the Taylorsville Road store on a flyer. The man in the parking lot said good thing I didn't use glue as could have created problems, then took less than two minutes and got it out and sent me on my way. I called a couple companies to have my home rekeyed and chose this one from reviews and the estimate I was given. Imagine my surprise that bill was double the quote I received. The main portion was due to a $65 service run and $60 to pick locks. At time I received quote the young lady said it didn't matter if I had a key for doors or not, but apparently it did matter for the pricing. I'd recommend everyone get specific quote in writing, as I failed to do that on this job and would've selected another company had I been able to compare apples to apples. They gave me a new key for much cheaper than what the dealership offered. Not sure if the discounted price was exclusive to Lock Doctor or not because they were the first place I called after being quoted $450 from the Mazda dealer. So I'm unsure if I could've gotten the same key at the same price or cheaper elsewhere. My review is specifically for Lock Doctor. I felt I got a good deal. I pay $143 after tax for a new key fob. My problem didn't come until the day after when I realized the key they cut didn't open the trunk. I had to drive my car back out to Jtown for them to recut the key. The key was still wonky and would only open the trunk with one orientation. I had to ask him to recut the key again to fix this issue because if I'm paying almost $150 for something I want it to work flawlessly. After getting the key to seamlessly open the trunk, the key would not smoothly "pop out" from the fob. I had to wait an hour and thirty minutes at the office for this entire process, the key recut and ejection issue, to be completely fixed. It wasn't that bad but this is my honest and first experience here. read more

Train wreck. Completely incompetent. Stunning to observe. Couldn't open standard door handle. Wasted my time and disturbed my neighbors in the building. Yeah, a locksmith so loud, he disturbed my neighbors. And, had to unmitigated gaul to want to raise the price from $85 to $125, because it took him so long. That was a, no. This is the first service that I investigated and booked exclusively through the Yelp app, and it was a seamless experience. I was recently in need of re-keying on a couple of my doors and decided to see who was recommended on Yelp. Lock Doctor was right at the top with a ton of 5-star reviews, plus a handy "request a quote" button on the listing. I clicked on it and messaged them with my needs. Within about 15 minutes I had gotten a reply, and was able to set up a convenient appointment from there. On the day of the appointment, I got a call about 5 minutes before that they were running late but still on the way. I had some flexibility in my schedule and appreciated the prompt heads up. Once the employee arrived he was polite, professional, and efficient. Within about 10 minutes I had my doors re-keyed. Once they gave me the total, it was even less than I expected (I think $35 for the service call and then $12 per lock), which was a pleasant surprise! My new keys and locks all work superbly! I requested quotes thru yelp and they were 75% of the quote from the other company that replied. I got there at the end of the day and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I have had the new smart key for my car for several months and have had no issues at all. I will definitely be going back if I need another key made. We have an older house and the locks were original hardware. We had called one company who had us send photos of the hardware after we took it apart. They offered to sell us new & said we could install it ourself. My husband was not comfortable as it is an unusual set up so he called the Lock Doctor yesterday. The technician came this morning and at first was not sure it could be fixed but he took it apart again and found the problem. He fixed it and completed the job in under an hour! I strongly recommend using lock doctor and I am a doctor, lol. I used them to reprogram some of my key FOBs for my 20 year old Lexus and they did it in under 15 minutes without an appointment and for a fraction of a price than what the dealership would charge. These guys were great! We needed new handles and deadbolts installed on two exterior doors. Two locksmiths showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up the mess after they were done. What we got were two doors with locks that engage with buttery smoothness and a sense of security. I've honestly never had locks that you didn't have to pull or push on the door a little to engage, so the proper installation resulting in extreme ease of use took some getting used to. I just purchased a Mitsubishi Outlander but it only came with one key. Michael at Lock Doctor was incredibly helpful. I had the key fobs and other business wouldn't even work with me because they wanted a lot of money of selling me the key fob and then the cost of programming. I bought a used Toyota Corolla. I only had the one key and fob. I went to Oxmoor Toyota . Parts Dept. told them what I needed. Supplied all the info, which was excessive. He made the key told me price was $246.00. I paid it at the cashier station. Cashier asked me if I had the receipt from the Service Dept. I asked "what service receipt", and was informed the $246.00 Key need to be activated to my car at an additional charge. I wasn't informed of that before hand. I was UPSET! Got my money back, googled Key Fob Replacement. LOCKDOCTOR had good reviews. Went to them on Taylorsville Rd. 34 minutes and $132.00 got a new key and fob and a nice key ring! LOCKDOCTOR is superb! Listen!!! Since COVID hit I have watched customer service in every industry crumble right in front of me. As a small business owner myself, it blows my mind how it's even possible. Let me tell you what just happened to me at the Lock Doctor though. I locked myself out of the house this morning. I drove to my wife's work to get her house key. Worked out great. She gets off work, we leave for dinner, both our keys are now inside the house. We have fun blowing money on local small businesses that we like etc... We get home and realize...we have no keys... How do u think my wife responded??? It wasn't good. I call a normal Locksmith who ranked high on Google because clearly the wrath of hell is being brought down upon me in front of my very eyes... It worked, someone is inbound 45 minutes.. $85. Ok, cool.. At this point I would have agreed to $200. I took my electric bike to the Lock Doctor to see if they could replace the lock, as I had lost the keys to it. Michael was the tech, and he was awesome! He contacted the maker of the bike and ended up taking apart the battery case to access the lock from the bottom up. He was then able to make replacement keys without having to get a new lock for it. One of the BEST customer service experiences I've ever had. Long story short, my car was stolen and sadly the LMPD weren't able to recover my second key fob from the thief. When I explained my situation the entire team was kind and caring when letting me know my options for giving me peace of mind. The team made sure I was able to have everything fixed (Re-coding a fob, ordering a new secondary fob, replacing the door lock & getting two new key slivers) in NO TIME & for a third of what the dealership quoted me at!! My workplace had a bathroom door that was locked from the inside. We didn't have a key. I was able to remove the door handle and take it to Lock Doctor on a Saturday morning. I had four keys made at a reasonable price. All was completed in less than 15 minutes. I reinstalled the door handle and it works perfectly. Can I give more than five stars? I wish! After a major parenting fail, I found myself locked out of my house with my five year old and nine month old baking in the heat this past Saturday. The kicker? My two year old was locked inside!! The double kicker?? We just started potty training and she was inside diaperless! Before calling the police or fire department I figured I'd try to find a locksmith to see how quickly I could get help. Yelp to the rescue...I called them in the order they appeared on the Yelp list. First place- no answer. Second place - number no longer valid. Third place - voicemail full. Fourth place - The Lock Doctor! A nice man answered and plugged in my address to gps and was there within 10 minutes. It took him no more than five minutes to unlock the door. He was pleasant and laughed with me about my situation. He was so kind and did not call Child Services - yay! (That was a joke, guys.) Two year old yelled peek a boo when the door opened () and no potty disasters.
