Cheryl was very engaging, funny, and informative. Most of the class consists of a classroom portion where Cheryl will inform you of important and relevant laws to be aware of when it comes to your firearm. You'd think this info would be boring but Cheryl taught the information in such an engaging way that made it easy to retain the info. The last part of the class consists of actually shooting a pistol at a nearby shooting range. My first time shooting a pistol and while it was nerve wracking at first, I felt completely safe with Cheryl! I highly recommend Cheryl and CAS & Sons Protective Group for their basic pistol class. I've already referred it to my friends and family as well! Well worth the price.

Roy is extremely knowledgeable and had two other assistants, Victoria and another gentleman, present. They were extremely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. The class taught about safety, firearm and bullet mechanics, and how the firearm's shape affects its dynamics, its firing, and its feel. Roy provided us with dummy firearms to handle while we learned about them before holding an actual weapon. We were walked through each step carefully and efficiently until I felt like I could hold an actual weapon and use it. We learned how to clean firearms, hold them properly, aim properly, and more. I feel much more confident about firearms, and I plan to take more classes.

I've done a few classes with Dave now. And although I am not, and probably never will be, a "gun…read moreperson," I can say I do now feel more comfortable around them. I used to hate it when my husband would get his gun out to practice with his fake bullets or clean it or something, but now I'll do a couple of practices with him. The last class we had, the shooting workshop, was probably the best. It was a private range, and I shot an orange, which was so cool. I highly recommend this workshop. So now, while I wouldn't say I'd be "excited" about a day at the range, I'll at least go in somewhat knowing what I'm doing and have some fun, which is a huge difference from a few months ago, when I wouldn't even go at all. As an instructor and human, Dave is patient, kind, and funny. This kind of class can be intense- a firearms instructor needs to walk a fine line between being supportive and encouraging, but also making sure people know what they're doing so they don't hurt themselves. Dave is able to balance that well. He knows when to explain, when to show, and when to let the student try it out. He also seems to know when he can encourage a student a bit more to reach the next level of skill and when to back off. He definitely knows guns, but he knows people, too! 5 stars - Outstanding LASD CCW training with Hansen Firearms Training…read more I recently completed my initial 16-hour Concealed Carry Weapon course with Hansen Firearms Training for my Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department application, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The classroom portion was thorough, well-organized, and engaging. The instructor did a fantastic job covering everything required under the current California standards while keeping the material clear and practical. What stood out most was the hands-on instruction on the range. The instructor took the time to teach proper firearm grip and handling techniques drawn from his prior professional training experience. These methods made a noticeable difference and helped build real confidence with the firearm. The Long Beach training location was very convenient for me living in Lakewood. Scheduling was straightforward, the process was efficient, and everything needed for the LASD paperwork (Certificate of Completion and Shooting Proficiency Standards form) was handled smoothly and professionally. Overall, this was high-quality, no-nonsense training that prepared me well for the qualification and the rest of the CCW process. I would highly recommend Hansen Firearms Training to anyone going through their LASD (or other Southern California) permit. Great instruction, solid facility, and a positive experience all around.

I did his initial online 16 hour ccw classes and it was very thorough. It really helped to have the online class to accommodate my schedule. The in person stuff was great, and you can tell Ben wants you to succeed! I highly recommend Hansen Firearms training if you just need general training or your ccw certification. Will be coming back for my renewal!
