My instructor, Eloy, is both funny and a hardass. Safety first! And after the past two full days, in the process of getting my CCW permit, I absolutely know more and improved more, in terms of confidently handling my weapon both safely and effectively. This is the place I'd recommend to my family and friends if they decided they also needed this training.

Their instruction revealed gaps in my knowledge that previous classes never addressed, to the point where I seriously questioned whether I was truly worthy of the responsibility of carrying. What sets Seven 4 Para apart is the depth of their expertise, real-world experience, and unwavering professionalism. They took me to an entirely new level in safety, technique, and situational awareness. My initial CCW class two years ago felt like a rubber stamp by comparison--no real challenge, no deep accountability. If you're serious about elevating your gun ownership, self-defense skills, and overall responsibility, this class is exceptional. The volume of essential information packed into 16 hours is intensive but absolutely necessary. Eloy and Alec go above and beyond to ensure every student truly understands the concepts--they won't sign off until they're confident you're safe, capable, and respectful of the responsibility. No shortcuts, no rubber stamps here. Huge thanks to the entire Seven 4 Para team for investing the time to advance my knowledge, sharpen my respect for carrying, and improve my decision-making under pressure. This training was worth far more than the cost--it's an investment in safety and peace of mind.

They have classroom spaces upstairs, which is where my instructor provided a lot of useful, practical information on my firearm (how to disassemble it what each part does) and best practices for using and cleaning it. Then we went down to lane 18 for hands-on training. Shot about 100 rounds -- my instructor helped me zero in both my iron sights and a red dot with magnifier I installed on my AR. Everyone there seemed to be expert firearms owners, which is a good thing vs. people who are unsafe and not following safe usage guidelines (I've heard other ranges in L.A. County allow newbies on the range without instruction -- not a good idea for obvious safety reasons). I also like that they have a lounge area where people who are not shooting can still look through thick glass/plexiglass and be safe doing it. Also, they provide a sink and soap so you can wash your hands afterwards (hint: you don't want gunpowder or other after-effects of shooting on your hands should law enforcement pull you over for another reason). You can rent a lane by the hour ($25/hour). No reservations so first come, first served. Will definitely be going back here for more practice. Recommended!

I later spoke with Paula who was friendly and helpful, she told me she was gathering enough people for a small beginners class for women, I asked if I could bring some friends and she said yes. We signed up and she provided all the information via email. I nor my friends had ever shot guns before so we were a little nervous. We got to the range and met Sayaka, who was badass! She assisted us to get geared up and shared about her expertise. There was about 6 people in our class, so it made it very intimate and they were able to assist us individually if needed! Paula and Sayaka went over various topics of safety. Already it made me feel at ease. Paula is so knowledgeable and quite hilarious she had be cracking up the entire class. Paula and Sayaka made a great team and they explained everything thoroughly. Such cool ladies! I was so inspired by them! We went over the movement of pulling the gun out from the holster over and over and over. But we didn't use the gun just learned the movements so we can get comfortable. Then we moved on to actually holding the gun. It was really helpful, because once we began shooting the adrenaline spiked! I got a lil scared and so did my friend but Paula and Sayaka were extremely patient and helpful. They showed us how to shot, where to shot, and how to reload. They gave me so much confidence that I could be badass like them! I will definitely be back and taking the next course. The three hours flew by! It was a lot of fun! We didn't know we were gonna get to shot in the shoothouse so that was a surprise and such a great time! Paula got some cool pics of us. 10/10 experience and I def recommend to women who have never shot before. It's definitely a necessity to protect ourselves and our loved ones!

It was his first time training and he called the experience "electric" and can't wait to come back. It was so good to continue to learn and hone our foundational skills. Paula and Sayaka are both amazing instructors. We were so fortunate to train with both of them together. Paula's precision, patience and expertise instills humility, confidence and appreciation for how to properly safely manage and engage with your firearm. She is a world-class teacher and we felt like we were being grounded with the best possible instruction. Sayaka's enthusiasm, patience, and excitement in teaching the principles were so beneficial. She brought a sense of joy, confidence, and accessibility to her teaching. Each time Sayaka provided personal instruction I was able to apply seamlessly. She always emphasized safety and situational awareness and made the learning process simple to digest and easy to use in real time. She is a terrific instructor for anyone who is looking to learn and improve their firearm skills. We all felt like we had truly taken huge strides in our skills from the beginning to the end of the day. I cannot recommend highly enough the courses and instructors at American Defense Enterprises Thank you again! We look forward to coming back soon.

His teaching partner Val added such a wonderful, welcoming touch to the class. Her presence and guidance made the experience feel even more approachable and inclusive. Because of their combined efforts, I walked away with so much more confidence than I ever thought possible. If you have been hesitant or nervous about taking that first step, I cannot recommend this course enough--you will be in great hands.

Dave, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to actually help you without any pressure or attitude. If you've ever been to other firearm stores, you probably know what I mean. Many places can come off like they have a superiority complex, like you're supposed to already know everything. That's not the case here at all. At ShootSoCal, you can ask any question and they'll walk you through it without making you feel uncomfortable. That alone goes a long way and keeps me coming back. I've purchased items from them, had builds done and even had custom work completed and every single time the result has been the same: top-tier service and excellent results. They're consistent, professional, and genuinely care about their customers. I recommend them to everyone I know. Small shop, but good selection of equipment, from AR parts to carry bags, oil/maintenance kits etc. Also, staff gave me some practical advice about anodizing the steel barrel I had purchased (for getting a different color on it), getting a gun locker and outdoor ranges within a 45 minute drive. Lastly, I was offered assistance to assemble my firearm, but didn't need it since I'd been studying how to do that while waiting to take delivery. Bottomline: I'd use ShootSoCal as an FFL again.
