The steak was perfectly cooked and had that grilled flavor - Vegetarian ziti- perfectly cooked, not too done. Every single element was balanced and well thought out. - Cookie skillet- crispy cookie and vanilla gelato brought the brown sugar in the cookie. this is not your mama's cookie skillet; this is elevated and quality. A nice spot to eat in East Nashville. Aesthetic was trendy and moody and the vibe was a really nice dinner setting. We were able to make a reservation a couple days before for a Saturday dinner. Staff was attentive and gave good suggestions. Everything was nicely plated and I think overall the dishes were good, but I didn't personally think I needed to have anything again per say. What we ordered: + smoked bone marrow - pickled red onion & parsley salad, smoked salt, grilled FM sourdough - generous to make sure we had 4 pieces, one for each of us, bread was toasted to near burnt, and I wish there was more herbs/onions to eat with + queso fondito - PRB chorizo, pumpkin seeds, cilantro, warm tortillas, escabeche - nice cheese blend, but I think it was missing some more oomph, I think I prefer the crunchy chip than tortilla + SM grilled 12oz bone-in pork chop - TN smoked cheddar mac and cheese, braised greens, TN chow chow - Not our favorite entree but I liked the cheddar mac + beef short rib stroganoff - Nicoletto's rigatoni, roasted onion, mushroom & garlic, sour cream - my favorite dish of the night! Overall, the food was very good. We ordered the pork chop and the catch of the day which was swordfish. The swordfish was tender and moist and really cooked to perfection and had a nice crust on it and wasn't tough like swordfish can be. The pork chop cooked medium. It was very moist and delicious. The greens were fabulous. Mac & cheese was good. With the swordfish, I got cheesy grits, which were amazing. I wanted green beans instead of the grits, but they would not substitute. So I ordered the green beans as a side. Had to pay full price for the side, which in my opinion, you should be able to substitute sides so that didn't make me happy. However, the green beans with the pecans and the bacon, and whatever that sauce was, was worth the extra money. Our waiter was kind of weird and made us feel uncomfortable. Even though we had a reservation for TWO WEEKS ahead of time, our table was small and in the way of traffic. Many other empty tables around us that were never filled. I don't know why we had to sit right inside the front door in the middle of the aisle where everybody was walking by and accidentally hitting us as they walked by. I liked the ambience, but it was a small place, the waiter never smiled. He did an adequate job, but I wouldn't say he was great. The food was very good but not great. Bottom line... I have dined in restaurants throughout the United States and around the world for decades, and this was one of the most appalling examples of hospitality I have ever encountered. I came in alone for dinner and took a seat at the bar. While waiting to use the restroom, I had an unpleasant interaction with a woman who appeared to be intoxicated. I simply told her there was a line and that the restroom doors were locked. She apparently took offense. After using the restroom, I returned to the bar expecting to enjoy my dinner in peace. The same woman approached me again from behind my bar stool. I asked her plainly to please leave me alone. She walked away, only to return shortly afterward with a man who confronted me and asked whether there was a problem. I explained that there was no problem and that I simply wanted to have dinner without being hassled by other patrons. His response was that it was Tomato Art Fest weekend. I told him that was irrelevant--I was a paying customer who wanted to eat my dinner in peace and be left alone. What happened next was astonishing. The man instructed the bartender to cancel my food order and then ordered me to leave the restaurant, using profanity. I was genuinely stunned. I am 69 years old and have spent decades dining extensively at restaurants ranging from neighborhood establishments to fine dining. I have never experienced someone representing a restaurant speaking to me in such a hostile and profoundly unprofessional manner. I was sitting alone at the bar waiting for my dinner after asking another patron to leave me alone. Rather than de-escalating the situation or calmly asking what had happened, my meal was canceled and I was ordered out. Restaurants are in the hospitality business. There was nothing hospitable about this experience. It was humiliating, hostile, and completely unacceptable. I can tolerate mediocre food, slow service, mistakes, and an occasional bad night. What I will not tolerate is being treated this way simply for asking to be left in peace. Without question, one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. I will never return. read more

Lockeland Table had been on my list for a very long time, and I was thrilled to finally get to try it. I loved the ambience and the neighborhood is one of my faves in Nashville. LT is lively, but casual and warm. I really liked our server (Jess, I believe). She was friendly. The biscuits are buttery and delicious and I thought I'd gone to heaven. These were probably the best biscuits I've ever had. I would go back for those alone. My entrée was the pork chop, which came with braised greens, smoked mac and cheese, and chowchow. It was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite meals. The pork was tender and the accompaniments were the perfect sides. I didn't order dessert, but wished that I had. There were a few misses, however. My friend ordered a vegetable pizza. The vegetables were unseasoned, and it was very bland. I would probably never order pizza from here. I didn't care for my smoked old-fashioned cocktail. I think that was because they use black walnut bitters and I that night was when I learned that I do not care for black walnut, so that's no fault of LT. However, it's a smoked cocktail and they used Corsair rye, and I would think that if they wanted to make it truly smoky, they would use the Corsair triple smoke. Super nice, trendy restaurant in a quaint Nashville neighborhood. Reservations are highly recommended although, not required. An internet search while traveling pointed us to Lockeland on a Friday evening and we so happened to thread the needle of being being able to get a table. We did not have reservations but luckily found a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender quickly greeting us, giving us menus and offering drink choices. The bartenders were very attentive and alot of fun to talk to. We opted for a non traditional meal choice and started with a bunch of apps and made it more of a small plate, tapas style meal. We loved everything we got from the wings to the empanadas to the warm dip. Everything came out on time and was full of flavor and the cocktails were out of this world. Wow! Our daughter recommended this place to us and we finally got a chance to try it. What great ambiance, fun, not stuffy; close quarters but not TOO close. Our server, Hunter, was perfection. Friendly, helpful and attentive, but not overbearing. There were four of us. Between us we had the bread service- yum!, the wedge salad, which my son and daughter in law couldn't stop raving about, the Mahi Mahi, which got solid reviews but was the least impressive of all our dishes, the pork chop, which I highly recommend, and the winning dish of the night... the stroganoff!! SO GOOD! We all got to try it and I plan to get my own the next time I visit and there WILL be a next time. Lockeland Table in Nashville was one of those meals that reminds you why good food + good people + good atmosphere is a holy trinity. I met up with an old friend and her fiancé, and we grabbed seats at the bar for some prime people-watching, great service, and that easy, neighborhood-cool energy that makes you want to linger. I started with the roasted carrot and beet salad, and it was bright, earthy, and beautifully balanced with crispy goat cheese, a little sweetness, a little tang. The kind of salad that makes you forget you're eating a salad. But the real star? The mussels. Phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, swimming in a broth so good I drank it straight from the bowl without shame. Grilled bread for soaking it all up accompanied them, but I am gluten free. A gluten free option would have been great. Wasting that broth would be a small culinary crime. Add in their Community Hour specials, friendly bar service, and a warm, lived-in atmosphere, and Lockeland Table just feels like a place people belong. I recently met up with a friend at Lockeland Table on a weeknight, and was quite impressed with this little East Nashville eatery. Street parking isn't too hard to find in this neighborhood. I didn't make a reservation - and instead just decided to arrive right at 4 PM and hope that I could snag a table for two or a couple of seats at the bar. Thankfully there was a spot available for us to enjoy Lockeland Table's "community hour," which is their version of happy hour. Monday - Saturday from 4 - 6 PM, you can enjoy great food and drink specials, and portion of proceeds benefits local schools. My friend and I each ordered had a glass of their house rosé, along with two of their pizzas. For $7 (+ $1 if you add pepperoni), this is an incredible deal for a high-quality pie. It's not a small pizza either ... although no shame if you end up finishing the whole thing like I did. Their regular pizzas are more than double the price, although I still think that's worth it for how tasty everything here is. I was staying at the Urban Cowboy, across the street, and decided to head in for a meal. Then Bad Idea called and we went there instead, so this is jsut about the Community Hour. Based on the few food items we had, I would say 3 stars on food, but that would not be fair to Lockeland as we did not eat a full meal. The place is a bit tight and darker, which gives a mixed ambiance (is it date night or drinking night?). The appetizers were average. The hummus tasted more like a bean dip, as I did not get any hint of the tahini. Perhaps there, but, if so, they need to add a bit more. Pricing on community hour was on point and I could see this being a cheers spot for the locals in the area. Will I return? Yes, but primarily to give the place a chance with dinner or to grab a cocktail during community hour at the bar. read more

Went tonight for a dinner with friends. Parking in the street nearby wasn't difficult to find even on a Saturday night. The staff were warm and friendly. The ambiance was a cozy neighborhood restaurant. The server explained the menus to us. We went during community hour and got drinks, the hummus and the daily special which was roasted carrots and broccoli. For entrees we got the seasonal halibut which came with grits and vegetables and the NY strip which came with chimichurri, greenbeans, tomatoes and pecans. Everything tasted great! Everything was seasoned expertly with the right amount of salt, herbs and acid. My favorite part of the meal was the greenbeans with pecans, chimichurri, and tomatoes on the side of the steak; it had a great smoky, vinegary flavor. We have been coming to Loveland Table for 16 yrs. It has always been one of our favorites. We live 30-40 min away and it is always a haul to get there. Always been great! But, tonite, it was terrible! No more pizzas on the menu, which was always a treat and never a disappointing one! Peach, black bean and corn salsa appetizer had no taste. The chips were overly salty. Black bean humus was good but was ok. Shrimp and grits portion was an embarrassment! I probably received 1/4 cup of grits and 4 tiny shrimp for the price. Roasted chicken was ok. Not worth the time and gas to get there. The 'frites' were over seasoned greasy fries! The prices were very high for the small quantity that you received. Overall. The taste of the food has definitely gone down hill! Bring back your money maker- homemade pizzas! Not worth coming back for! Very disappointed regular customers!!!! I did enjoy 2 of the appetizers there but I felt the entree I got and the desserts my table shared were lacking. The pate is some of the best pate I've had, seem like they make it there and the jam works amazing with it even though I was skeptical. The definite star of the show was the Red Thai Curry Mussels. The spice and flavor were top tier and the portion was large, felt sufficient for our table of 3. We also got the empanadas of the day which were good but it comes out as 2 large ones so we just had to split it. I got the pork chop and it was cooked beautifully but swimming in the sea of marmalade onions was not doing it any justice. I couldn't stomach it. The pork chop had no flavor otherwise. The sweet potato mash was nothing special. As for the dessert, a true disaster. The Banana Foster Breas pudding tasted like a banana walnut muffin that went stale 3 days ago...not moist in the slightest. We also shared the cheese cake, and it wasn't anything special. My FIRST time dining at Lockeland Table after hearing all about it for years was exceptional. I made reservations for my wife & I to enjoy the Valentine's Day dinner set menu at $95 per person plus tax & drinks. I had originally made the reservation for 9 PM, which, after working a full day the day before, and then spending eight hours, trying to move back into our house after some construction was finished we moved it to 430 because we were utterly exhausted & knew a 9pm dinner on a weekday would be tough. We arrived a few minutes early just after they had opened & for the most part. It was empty with the exception of a few people already nestled up to the bar, and two tables seated in the back for the dinner service. My wife and I were quickly taken to our table and our drinks brought out while we pondered our choices from the special menu offerings. I had already browsed on the website a few days before, and had a good idea of what I was gonna go with, but I asked our server Jessica to tell me what she liked the most from what they had sampled, and I went with her recommendations. My choices: Smoked & grilled Korean ribs (starter), Lobster Bisque (soup), Maple Leaf Rendered Duck Breast (Main), Amaretto tart (Dessert). My wife's choices: Sautéed gulf shrimp (starter), kale cabbage salad (salad), wood fired miso honey salmon (main), triple cream (dessert) Since we were so early, and the restaurant had not begun to pick up yet, Jessica said she would make sure to give us plenty of time in between each course before she brought it out, which we greatly appreciated because it allowed us to enjoy it more thoroughly. Out of everything I got, I would have to say the Maple leaf rendered duck breast was the highlight. I'm not certain I've ever ordered duck as an entrée dish before primarily because it's not very commonly offered. However, if I ever have the option to order it and I can expect it to be even half as good as this, I definitely will. There was not an underwhelming dish present from our selections & I would without hesitation consider coming here again for a special occasion if they offer a curated menu like this. It can be loud inside, but we were seated outside in the mid-90's heat (luckily in the shade) and the waiter brought us a spinning contraption to keep the flies away from the delicious food.
