What a great find this place was! There's not too many places in Nashville where you can get a reservation for 8 for breakfast, but we could at Mel's and it was excellent! The restaurant is based off Mel's Diner in California and there's a lot of nostalgia everywhere. Everyone loved the food. I ordered the Western Omelette with fresh fruit and toast. The omelette was well made with delicious ingredients. The fruit was delicious! One of the coolest things about this place is that a century ago the building was a vault housing gold and silver. You now enter through that safe door in the back of the restaurant into an amazing speakeasy! Unfortunately for us the speakeasy is only open on Friday and Saturday nights so we couldn't go, but our server gave us a tour. A beautiful bar, couches, pool table, etc... what a unique place! Breakfast all day? yes please! Recently opened near broadway (and now open 24 hours !!). Tons of breakfast options, sandwiches and late night snacks ! We were looking for a spot with good vibes and a big menu, this spot delivered!!! We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was Danny and he was very friendly! We had great conversation They have cool jukeboxes by the booths to request songs, definitely feels like a diner from the 40s The food was delicious, large portions but did not sacrifice quality for quantity! There was a slight mishap with our orders going into the kitchen, but Danny made it right immediately, so 5 stars on service!! We dined here for the 4th of July because it's family friendly and has the all American vibe. The service was great! They made pretty good cocktails but the food was just okay. Each plate ordered by my family had a great presentation. However, my 15 year old refused to finish his burger ‍ He couldn't pin point what he did not like about it though. I ordered a salad and the grilled chicken was hard to chew. My mom's fried chicken was dry. Overall, we had a great time, but don't think the food was anything to write home about. Had to check out this diner since I kind of had a little nostalgia when I saw this place. Loved the diner feel and our server was attentive. I was a little bummed bc i had my heart set on trying the tuna melt but they ran out for that nite so I settled for the sliders combo. It was good but nothing to brag about. We specifically checked your online menu in advance, looking for Gluten Free options. When we got there, our waitress said the items labeled Gluten Free on the menu were NOT Gluten Free. My husband and I came here for a date night out and had a lovely experience. Our server was very polite and made sure we were taken care of with refills, extra sauces, etc. There was no wait for a table and we loved the vintage decor. Each table had its own mini jukebox with classic music, as well. I had the Short-Rib Grilled Cheese, Mozzarella Sticks, and Cheesecake for dessert. My husband had a burger and we each had some cocktails which were 1940's themed and delicious. The bathroom was clean and we had excellent service. Ok we can all agree it's funny to have a drive in with no actual drive-in.... But besides that this place is pretty cool. The atmosphere is very relaxed. (That's a nicer way to say don't be in a hurry) the people working in the bar are very friendly but the best part is the food. This is a great lunch/brunch spot, my absolute favorite is the tuna melt sandwich. I keep coming back for that one! I was so excited to have Mel's in Nashville as a native Californian. I can say the decor, aesthetic and the vibes are great! They are in a great location downtown and will be perfect for the area. Now the food was fine I guess. I got the Denver omelette and while the eggs were cooked well and the ingredients were good, it was kind of greasy. The hashbrowns too. I can admit they were busy on a Friday so I give them grace for that and the service was great. They were really nice and communicative so that is a great plus. I ordered a smoothie too and it was fine, wasn't mixed together well so I got a lot of separate flavors and not a blend. They did just open so maybe they are still working out the kinks. Who knew this little gem is now down on 2nd Ave. This restaurant pays homage to the old 50s diners and has an old 32 Ford Coupe (I think) at the entrance. They have little miniature juke boxes in each booth that takes quarters. The food came out pretty quick. I had a smash burger with potato salad, both of which were absolutely delicious. My wife had the short rib grilled cheese and sweet potato fries which she said was phenomenal. We want to try the breakfast here next! read more

Wonderful experience. This was my second time eating at Mel's, I had the Bomb burrito both times, it is very filling especially with the fruit as a side. I am not sure of the name of the hostess on my first visit but today Lilly was the hostess. She was very sweet and knowledgeable, got me to a table quickly and set my up with my beverages. Then my waiter Luis had my food on the table while it was still hot and checked on me often, keeping my coffee mug filled. The decor is a vibe and I love the mini jukebox on the table(the cost, 1 quarter!) If you are thinking of trying Mel's out, let this be a sign to DO IT DO IT DO IT. read more

Spotted this new place in downtown Nashville when I went to a Titan' s game. Looked like a long wait, but we were seated before the time they quoted us. Menu had a variety of items that were great for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. Everything everyone ordered looked delicious, as I perused people's plates on the way to my seat. It was hard to decide what to get, but I went with the Patty Melt. I've had a lot of Patty Melts in my lifetime, and this has to be the best I've ever put in my mouth. I don't know what special ingredient (sauce) they put on it, but it made the sandwich stand out more than others! I opted to pay $2 more for sweet potato fries. They were made in house and a delicious accompaniment. I'm gonna suggest something kind of weird that I tried for the first time with the sweet potato fries, which was a creamy horseradish sauce. I have to say those two were a great combination, and I'll be asking for that as a sweet potato fry sauce in the future. To top off the meal, I got their $5 Pineapple Mimosa. Note:The alcoholic drink was only 5 cents more than a soda. I think that's high for a soda. So, I'll drink water, if I don't get Mimosas. Sorry, I have no pics. I was hungry and dug in, before I thought about photographing my food. I do recommend this place, and I plan to frequent more so. Oh, service can be slow and lacking. We were overlooked and had to bring it to someone's attention we hadn't been waited on, but we'll chalk it up to the place being new. They've only been open 2 weeks.
