This is the third time I've used Lockology, and despite fantastic prior experiences, this one did not go well. There was a first visit to assess, which went fine. Then we scheduled the repair appointment with a time window. They neglected to show up and called at the end of the window to reschedule. Frustrating. The repair appointment was rescheduled and the locksmith arrived on time. I was working from home and he continually yelled through my open window to get me to come out and explain what he was doing. I knew what he was doing. It felt like a waste of my time. The repair required a rear video camera to be dismounted and remounted to repair the busted lock. He had finished and that was not put back on. He asked me if I wanted it back on, and I said yes. A while later, he called me out again to show me and to tell me he would be charging me extra, "because if he left it off I'd have to pay someone else to do it." I called the office and they said it was between him and me. They offered no help. In the end, Ori was very rude to me. The office wouldn't help facilitate the disagreement. "I'm not sure I'll work with your company again," I said. "Well, that's your loss," Ori replied. He did a good job. However, should I choose to work with Lockology again (questionable), I will be requesting anyone other than Ori. Customer service is important!!! read more

Very pleased with their service. I called and asked for the earliest appointment available as I had a busy day. They gave me a window of 30 to 45 mins but came much sooner. Edgar was my service technician and he was excellent. He was able to open a residential door that had been accidentally locked and even helped me take the lock off upon my request at no additional cost. He was fast, efficient and cleaned the area nicely. He also took the time to explain how to remove door handle units off the other doors so I wouldn't have additional accidental locking problems. Wow- awesome experience! You know those problems in life that you keep putting off because they seem like such a hassle to fix? Losing BOTH of the keys to our Prius was one of those. We called the dealer- they said we'd need to tow the car in. Ain't nobody got time fo 'dat! For months (yes), we avoided dealing with it. Then- last Sunday- my husband says 'let's fix the Prius today'. To that, I said 'sure!' and then proceeded to order a pizza and start watching a movie. I lazily checked yelp, saw the 5 star reviews, and gave Lockology a call. "Can you replace my Prius keys? I don't have any" - yes "I'm in south San Jose- you're in Oakland- can you come here?" - yes "Can you come today?" - yes, be there in an hour 90 minutes later, I've eaten my pizza, am back to watching a movie, and have two new keys! The tech was friendly and professional. It wasn't cheap- about $600 for two keys (you can't blame the locksmiths for the ridiculous electronic key prices), reprogram and a trip charge - but still better than the dealer price. Plus- I didn't have to tow it, it was Sunday, and the entire transaction from call to completion took less than 2 hours. I'd pay a premium for that. Thanks Lockology! read more

He was unable to help me but I can only give a 5 star rating!!!! Turns out I have a car where there is no aftermarket programming for the key. 1st time I texted details. Hour later he sends me an explanation why he can't do it. OK. Just now, Sunday, I texted him with a note that I found out my car key is identical to another brand and can he do it for that brand. TERRIBLE SERVICE. CUSTOMERS BEWARE Called this place to get the lock on my car repaired as well as get a new replacement key for my BMW, which I expect to be programmed to my car after completing the service. However, they told me they were unable to program it for whatever reason. They still charged me full price for their shitty service and 4 months later, the lock on my car breaks again. Call back to see if they can do anything about it but they said the 3 month warranty has already expired. Paid $300+ for their service and got completely nothing out of it but a replacement key that isn't even programmed. DO NOT COME HERE. I REPEAT, DO NOT COME HERE. Save yourself some money and stay away from frustration. UPDATE: I just went to BMW only to find out that this place issued me a non-programmable key. That is the only reason why I purchased a new key from them is so that I can use the button on the keys. What kind of shit is this. And now, this locksmith doesn't wanna help out with this issue. Let me start by saying "thank you".. I cannot thank you enough for being punctual and consistent with following up your every movement to my house and being informative and polite while I bug you with questions, but you kept your humor and kept laughing. I received the best deal in the entire Oakland area. $109 GRAND total, for the service of 4 locks to be re-keyed. While all the other Locksmith had these elaborate reviews (from false accounts of course) swindling people for their money, because I swear the quotes I was receiving were $185 and more. I am SUCH a fan. I thought I was screwed when I was robbed and lost my only computer chip car key. My car was also stuck at Oakland airport. I was expecting to pay big to have to tow and pay big time to get the dealership to make me a new key. Then my Uber driver told me about Lockology. At first I didn't believe it but after reading other reviews I gave them a call. Not only did they come to the airport parking lot (yeay for no tow fees!) but were also able to code a new key in no time and for a fraction of the cost the dealership quoted. I was soo impressed. They gave me a time frame and were like 10mins outside of that but I didn't care at all! They rescued me and were so nice about it. I needed a second Smart Key for my 2012 Jaguar XJL and inquired with the dealership (British Motors in SF) how much they would charge for it. I was told $511.50 for the Smart Key plus another $200 for programming! That was way too expensive so I did some research. Using Ebay, I was able to find the exact Jaguar OEM Smart Key from Midwestkeyless for only $139.00. Then I was fortunate to find Lockology Locksmith on Yelp. Alixx set up my appointment and he sent Ori to meet me. It took only about 30 minutes for Ori to program my new Smart Key and also custom cut the emergency key blade to work with door lock. So, I had a huge bad scenario about 2 weeks ago. Accidentally, left my keys in my deadbolt and not only did someone take them, but stole a sling bag from my car at the same time. So, in the deep darkness of feeling absolutely violated, I called Lockology to see if they could replace my car key (a remote key). To my surprise, Daniel said yes. About an hour later, Frank showed up as schedule. So, there was the first sigh of relief. He is extremely personable and just an awesomely nice guy. Secondly, while I was waiting, I realized that I would need the deadbolt rekeyed as well, but never mentioned it to Daniel. As Frank and I began to talk, I asked if he could to the deadbolt rekey as well, and he assured me it would be no problem. So, I unlocked my car with the Valet key, and Frank got down to business. About 30 minutes later (key had to be cut, remote had to be programmed, and car needed to be reprogrammed), he handed me a car key and asked me to try it out. It worked perfectly. Then, he took out my deadbolt and had the rekeyed in about 15 minutes and gave me 2 new keys. All in all, everything went smooth and timely. The only thing I would point out is that I forgot to get a quote/ or he forgot to give one over the phone, which happens and isn't even an issue, and that they were missing the trunk release button for the key. As for the key, I can't realistically expect to them to have every variation of every key ever made in stock. So, no biggie. Frank did offer to replace it for me, if I wanted. Like I said, no issue on either because it is completely understandable. Thanks, guys! As nice as you were, I hope I don't have to call you again. HAHA. Great work, and awesome guys read more

They are not flexible to negotiate. Try to charge me same price for extra remote key. Already paid them 195 dlls . On top of that . I think 195 dlls more for second remote is really pricy .That's ridiculous. I'm gonna shop around for extra one. read more

My experience was ok, yet I would consider using them again since pricing is decent compared to an Audi/VW dealer but I'll shop around much more first instead of being my instant go-to and maybe have a better experience with a different tech. The tech was on time and started promptly at my appointment time -- this and the prompt responses in identifying and scheduling my appt with headquarters were the only positives. What I was told was a 30 min job took 1hr and 45min when I only had time in my schedule for an hour. The key cutting and syncing the chip was fine and done within 15 min. However, programming the lock and trunk release functions the tech just couldn't figure out with all his fancy gadgets and with even calling a second tech to swing by for support. The claim was my aftermarket stereo was interfering with the communication to the programming of the second half of the key. I believed him for a brief second giving the benefit of the doubt because what do I know about programming car keys even though he already synced up the bottom portion with the blade. It wasn't until he made a comment about whoever probably installed the stereo messed it up during the install. Little did he know that I did the install and i knew exactly what I was doing that it would not have compromised anything -- from there I just figured this guy is looking to save himself. At the end of it he couldn't sync the lock button and trunk release so he just paired my old half of the key with the new half he just cut -- my expectation was for a completely new key. Not even to cap this off, 50% of the work I still paid 84% of the initial quote but i didn't want to sit there and bitch (that's what Yelp is for) because I was already a hour late from where I was supposed to be and in the back of my head knew I had a new unit in the house somewhere I could try and program myself so I'll have one new complete key. Right after the tech left, I grabbed the new unit, jumped on the Audi forums and within 15 minutes reprogrammed the new unit myself without any special tools to have one complete new key. From that, start to finish should have been a 30 min job had the tech known what he was doing. read more

I locked my keys in our old van at the doctor's today. That's the third time in my life, second time there. First time, back in college, i locked the keys in the car when already late for a final. There i was, bent over, face against the glass with my hands shielding the glare, swearing, when this young man walks by - straight from central casting (role: gang banger kid up to no good, tattoos, pants dropping, puffy down vest way too warm for the day...). "Hey, you lock your keys in your car?" And before i can even say anything he steps past me, pulls a slim jim from under his vest, and pops the lock! He turns back with the most precious look on his face, the look a kid makes when they know they just did something that made someone happy. Suddenly he looked like he was 6, not about 16. He just walked away, knowing he'd balanced his karma from whatever he was doing with the slim jim. Anyhow, lockology: the guy who answered was friendly, took my information, told me a price, a and said Frank would call since he would have a better time estimate. Frank called a few minutes later, got my location and said he'd be there on 20 minutes. He showed up and had me on the van in no time at all. Frank was friendly and fast. None of that gruff tow truck driver stuff. I paid $65. The competition has ads claiming $15 , but when called say there is also a charge of $35 minimum in addition to the $15 charge for showing up. I'd rather know i was paying $65 than risk finding that $55 minimum had turned into $85, which would not surprise me based on the competition's misleading ad. read more
