My very safe daughter locked us out of our friends' house on a chilly Saturday night last week. I got a very reasonable quote over the phone and our locksmith was at the place in Alameda very quickly. Though our lock proved to be a little tougher to crack than anticipated, we were still able to get in fairly quickly and the cost didn't go up too much from the quote. Lockology Locksmith provides outstanding service. While catching a movie at the Grand Lake Theater Saturday evening, my car was vandalized - ignition trashed, battery stolen, molding ripped off the steering column, bunch of stuff stolen from trunk, etc. I guess I'm lucky the thieves were unsuccessful in stealing the car, however they did a fair amount of damage and the car was not drivable. Sunday morning I called a few locksmiths and reached Nadav at Lockology who promised to send over a technician to repair the ignition on site. Ori arrived and he not only got the badly damaged ignition working but helped me install a new battery. He even fixed the molding on the steering column (without me asking) for free. Ori was very pleasant and helpful - when my cell phone battery ran out he let me sit in his van charging it so I could make important calls. Rate was reasonable - these guys are great. I would highly recommend Lockology Locksmith for any job from this point forward. Lost the keys to my 2001 Volvo S80 (isn't the easiest to get into) on Friday night. This required a special key being cut as well as a transponder chip being programmed to my car. Okay so my boyfriend is an electrician and thought he lost his key on a 10,000 sq ft job. So after looking for a good hour and calling a few other lock smiths who refused to help and even the dealership who said we had to tow the truck there I got on the line with Alex at Lockology. I locked myself out of my condo last Friday and had to borrow neighbor's phone to call a locksmith. This one was the first one that popped up in my google search. They told me 30-45 min and $95-$125. The guy showed up in that timeframe, and charged me $115. All good so far. He told me he could not pick the lock as it was a "smart lock" and needed to be drilled out and then the lock mechanism would need to be replaced. It was tough to drill out and in doing so, he also damaged the door knob. He told me he would try to find a doorknob that matched to replace it. He came back at the end of the day with a matching doorknob and charged me another $116 for it. Here is the reason for the two star review: When I was at Home Depot two days ago I happened to see the exact same Kwikset Smart lock doorknob for $30!! Obviously I was between a rock and a hard place when I needed him to drill out the lock to get back into my condo so had to pay whatever they charge. However, replacing the lock in the door knob was not an emergency as I still had a deadbolt on the door. The guy could have told me "hey, if I do this I'm going to charge you $116, but you can just pick up a new door knob at Home Depot for a lot less money and screw it in yourself. While I was at Home Depot I called the company to let them know I thought they took advantage, and the guy I spoke with said he'd have to speak with the guy who did the work and get back to me. He never did get back to me. read more

I lost my keys - freaking Tile didn't help. My ONLY car keys (had already lost the spare ‍). My car was parked in Oakland and dealership wanted me to tow it and then pay $400 dollars for labor and key...I checked out yelp first before agreeing to that.. and within minutes Nadav called me and within 2 hours I had my car unlocked and new car keys and better price. My phone died and the locksmith couldn't reach me at the appointed time 7pm , but when I was finally able to borrow a charger from someone and call, he still came though it was getting late. Finding the car took longer than expected because there isn't a clear address for the parking lot I was in. I moved and needed to have the front door re-keyed. I also wanted the two backdoors to use the same key. The guy who showed up initially was super nice, but didn't quite do what I needed (he re-keyed the front and one of the back doors, but not to the same key). He was missing a part for the other back door, so he asked me to call the main office to schedule a followup. I called, and a different guy showed up (also super nice). He had some truck problems, so the appointment slipped a bit, but he did a good job of updating me about his revised ETA. I explained the situation again, and he was able to get two of the doors on the same key, but needed a part for the third (older) back door. We scheduled a third appointment for the next day. He showed up and was able to get everything sorted. He even picked up a slide bolt for the basement door (something I mentioned wanting to install) and installed it for me. Lockology was courteous and professional, and despite some coordination issues they eventually got the job done. I think the communication between locksmiths could be a bit better, which would have prevented one of the three trips they had to make. read more

I paid $220 for a new key to my car. Issue is - key didn't work. It worked the first time the locksmith jiggled it correctly. But once home, I tried to start car the next day with new key and couldn't do it. It didn't work. It wasn't just me- I had two friends attempt to use key to make sure I wasn't the fool- but none of us could not start the car with key. I called back several times to make an appointment to rectify the situation. Boss said sure yea " we will handle-" but could not commit to day or time to come look at it again. One day the technician simply was a no show after an agreed upon time was set. Now they just don't answer at all. Not cool. Expensive and poor skill and quality. read more

These guys are great! BMW keys are difficult to make and I needed a second key for my 2000 BMW. I called for a same day appointment and Ori showed up within 2 hrs as scheduled. Making the key involved removing the car computer and adding another key w/o affecting the existing keys. These guys have what is a rolling workshop and can handle anything. These guys were amazing! I bought a used 2014 Porsche Cayman (model code 981) that only came with one key. I wanted to get a second key and after a lot of research it seems these transponder keys are very complicated and you can't just buy a used key and "reprogram" it. It needs a new "blank" key that requires programming. I contacted a few Porsche dealers in the area and prices were much more than Lockology. I also tried a few non-dealer mechanics said they could not do it. I contacted over a dozen locksmiths in the area that said they could not do it. But Lockology did it! They got the new key and I dropped off my car for them to program the new key and everything works perfectly. Wonderful friendly service too. read more
