Stay away!! We have 4-5 members of our very large, extended family here in one of the original mausoleums dating back to the early 1980's. Never had any issues ... until now. When our grandmother got sick ... they were so nice when I called to ask about her joining my grandfather in the same crypt. But after she passed this year ... it became a nightmare. It started out ok ... as my aunt made all the arrangements and was again promised that our grandparents would be laid to rest together. Much of our family had moved away from the area ... but many decided to come back (from as far as CA and the UK) just for the interment. Everything was fine as family members flew her urn in from CA. Upon calling them to confirm the service in less than 1.5 days ... this is where things took a turn for the worse, as they said grandma would now NOT be with grandpa, but in another crypt! This went back and forth for another whole day ... where they said the only solution to ensure that they'd be together was to purchase ANOTHER crypt at over $5K plus fees, which was in the newer section away from the rest of our family ... and we would have to postpone the service already scheduled for the next day until new paperwork was completed! It was thoroughly demoralizing ... not to mention callus and uncaring after the pain and grief we were already experiencing from the loss of our grandmother. After we resigned ourselves to continuing with the planned service with grandma being in a different crypt (especially since all family members had already made arrangements to attend the next day) ... we were thrown for another loop when we went there in the morning prior to the service. As the crypt was opened in preparation for the interment ... it seemed like the size of the crypt did not match the paperwork/contract and the urn would NOT fit! We had to scramble again and it was by some miracle that we were able to resolve it. What a terrible way to do business and to take advantage of families at such a difficult time in their lives ... just horrendous!! read more

I called the office at Locustwood to get my husband's and my information needed to get our papers in order in the event we pass. Angelo, who helped me was thorough after we discussed my husband's family grave sites. He called me back with results of what I purchased separate for us in 2005. He emailed me the papers. There are not enough kind words that I can say about our experience with the General Manager, James Sacco. My family recently suffered the unthinkable with the loss of our daughter. We had to drive through the night from out of state to get back to New Jersey and make arrangements. James returned my phone call after-hours and spent so much time assisting us during our most difficult time. James' kindness and compassion made our journey more bearable and took away much of our anxiety. We have family members buried at Locustwood so naturally it was where we wanted our daughter to rest. I couldn't help but feel that those family members led us to James in order to guide us and comfort us in such a dark time. What mattered the most to my wife and I was that he listened, he listened to us and learned about our daughter and simply let us grieve. There was no push, only recommendations and gentle assistance. To our surprise when we arrived at the cemetery James was there to assist us in person, even on a Sunday. We found the park to be more radiant and beautiful than when we moved out of state. You can clearly see that James cares about his work and making Locustwood the beautiful serene setting that it once was. Thank you for everything James Sacco, looking forward to meeting you again during our visits home when we come to spend time with our daughter. I posted this on Google Reviews and came to Yelp to post as well. I can't believe I actually have to give one star just to leave a review. They're not even deserving of that! My family has been dealing with Locustwood for a couple years now and the staff have always been so frustrating to work with. They don't even have their records digitized, they're all still paper! They've been in possession of our grave marker for our fmaily members for over 6 months and it is still just in a pile with a bunch of other grave markers. It is so disrespectful. Every time we call or talk to them, we get the same BS about "hoping to get to it this week" and "you'll be moved to the top of the list" and "the person who does that has been out with family issues." It's clear that they have our money and don't give a shit about anyone. read more

I inherited 2 lots from my parents. We are currently inquiring about selling them since our family moved to PA and my parents were buried here instead. I was the sole heir in their wills. When speaking to the office and then the manager, James Sacco, they are the most rude people! Sacco said, "I'm not spending my day discussing this." I'm sorry -- I thought this was a service based business! I will have to deal with them to follow through but would NEVER recommend this group! It has been nothing but rude. They want $200 to do an affidavit to prove I'm the heir. I already have proof that I'm the sole heir. Sacco - "Why would I believe you?" Me: "Because I have proof from when they passed away." I asked why should I pay you $200 to prove what I already have legal proof of? Sacco said, "Because we are a corporation and we don't make that much money." I asked him would if matter if I took it to small claims court? He said, "I can't talk to you now because you mentioned court, attorney, etc." Again saying he didn't want to spend his day discussing this with me. There was a second person in the car who wanted to explain more to me but Sacco told him not to; that they didn't need to talk to me, (Sacco, "She mentioned court - we don't have to talk to her," and again stated about not spending his day assisting me. Sacco said why didn't I sell them and pass the fee on to the new owner. I said we weren't at that point yet. Disgraceful, unkept and noisy. My grandfathers burial was on 12/7/2020 and our family was very unhappy with what we saw and heard. We have two other family members buried in this cemetery and have never experienced what we did on this day. First, under his casket there was no green carpet, so the wood boards as well as the metal holding the casket was exposed for all to see. Not something you want to stare at while saying goodbye to a loved one. When our family called Locustwood with our concerns, Lisa in the office stated there was no carpet because of Covid. How could this be? Covid has caused some pretty crazy things to have to be changed, but a carpet? Another family membered called a day later and spoke to someone in the office who then advised that there is NO Covid rule regarding the carpet and wasn't sure why there wasn't one at his gravesite during the burial. How does one person say that this missing carpet was because of Covid and another person working in the same facility state that this is untrue and isn't sure why is wasn't there? My Grandfathers headstone had been moved haphazardly, thrown to the side and was completely filled with dirt. He shares this headstone with my grandmother who passed away in 2006. Completely unacceptable. When our family contacted Locustwood previously in the week to state our concerns with his burial, they stated that the footstones and headstones are supposed to be taken away in a truck until after the service when they are brought back to be placed in correctly. Why was his not removed and brought back? Why was it left at the gravesite, dirty and randomly placed? The ground around the burial area was unkept and gross. Because my grandmother and uncle are also buried at that site my grandfather would always weed, water and take great care of the grass and area around our family. He took pride in knowing he kept that area clean, beautiful and nice for his wife and son. I can NOT say the same was done for him by Locustwood. During the burial there were big machines and trucks making all sorts of noise about 200 yards away in another part of the cemetery. It was hard to hear the priest because of all the noise and beeping. It was pitiful and downright disrespectful. Burials last no more than a half hour to forty-five minutes and are scheduled. Why would Locustwood allow this "construction" to take place during that time? It is the last time our family was able to say goodbye to the true Patriarch of our family and it was rudely interrupted by noise. My grandfather is a veteran. He was a Bombardier in World War II and proudly served his country. He completed some 35 missions successfully and was able to return home to his family. We wanted to honor him the way he should have been honored but we feel like Locustwood took that away from us. My last memory of saying goodbye to my Grandfather is of a messy ground, dirty headstone just placed about, metal and boards as well as construction vehicles moving about. I am calling Locustwood to express my dissatisfaction with the burial and their involvement. Hopefully something can be resolved and our family can have peace. read more

I have been trying to get the headstone put in for my husband's grave. I paid in the summer to have the base put in for the headstone. The headstone is now complete and the base is not installed. I was promised by the grounds manager it would be in by Christmas. It is January and still not down. I have called their Corp. Office and left messages and still no response! My recent experience with Locustwood was NOT a good one.Their landscapers ran over my father's memorial plaque with a lawnmower and wrecked it.They told me it is my fault because my family put stones on the plaque(a Jewish tradition) I was never informed of the risk of said action.I have never heard of such a thing at a Jewish cemetery or Jewish section of a cemetery.I now have to pay out of pocket to replace it and give my father the memorial plaque he deserves.Not a happy camper! read more
