What a neat spot! Had some time to kill today so I stopped in to check it out before I go to my first MtG pre-release next weekend--I'm a total newbie, and Ethan and Mikey at the counter were both super helpful in explaining some basics to me and recommending some beginner-friendly sets as well as some singles to help build out my first decks! Ethan also showed me some resources to help research cards and synergies and start deckbuilding which was soooo helpful and really makes the game a lot more approachable than I had initially thought it might be. Also grabbed a coffee while I was here--my americano was reasonably priced, the espresso was great, and the barista, whose name I didn't catch, was super friendly! Lots of tables and space to sit--they were running a Commander event while I stopped in but during a non-event time I can see it being a great spot to hang out and casually play with friends, or even just sit and do some work if I'm in the area. Stopped by here before dinner near by. Very spacious with a lot of big tables for board game play. They have a cafe inside as well. I got the chai latte and it was very tasty. This local game shop offers everything in tabletop gaming including board games, card games, roleplaying games, dice, and miniatures. There's plenty of large tables for people to gather to play their own or borrow a game from the shop. Note Tuesday night tends to be more crowded due to Magic of the Gathering tournament. Don't forget to grab a drink or snack! You'll be greeted by their friendly staff. Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I can only confirm their hot chocolate, teas, lemonade, and milkshakes are delicious. I am new to the game and got disqualified for having some commander cards in a modern tournament by the manager. He waited until I won to tell me, probably wouldn't have said anything if I lost. I am guessing that someone else saw the card being played and reported it. My assessment is that it is a place that is run by a douchebag and if full of douchebags that play there. I was excited because it was the first time I had ever won a round. Never going there again and only getting 1-star reviews from now on. read more

This coffee shop is one of the premiere places to drink coffee and play games. Specifically Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: the Gathering. In the years I have been here, the food has been only slightly over priced, but served by a professional and happy staff. The venue is well decorated with local artists and would seem to be a welcoming place in the suburban expanse. Unfortunately, if you are seeking to meet new people and play a few games of cards on their open game days, I suggest you keep looking. The regulars are very cliquey and not at all looking to meet new people. I have found this to be particularly true on Sundays. Typically, this wouldn't detract from my experience. But since this has become a pattern, I have to reiterate that the place is a five star venue. But it's their customers that really dim the whole experience. read more

We had hours to kill before our annual Sherlock Holmes dinner at the Mpls. Golf Club. Basil spotted this for a coffee shop cause I hate the others. I was greeted by Matt the manager and he steered me toward the other side at the coffee cafe. I like how they don't treat it as an after thought to the gaming. My hot chocolate was served in a large mug and Basil got a mocha latte. Both were delicious. I was impressed by the young trainee, Aster, who wanted to get it right, and he did. Starting with asking what kind of milk I wanted. Whole milk no problem. The inside itself is very dark, yet neat and meticulous. I think they offer dungeons and dragons on Wed. for free but you have to sign up for it. My son's would love it here, still gaming in their 30's. There was a mix of ages here now that I think of it. I am sick of being inundated with LGBT propaganda everywhere in this store. I come to play a game. I don't care who anyone loves, sleeps with, or what animal they identify with; however, it is pushed in my face that if I even "misgender" somebody, I am committing hate and am not welcome (by their own policy). This is not to mention that rainbow flags fly everywhere, which makes me feel uncomfortable even bringing my children to the store. They have even closed their store to allow their staff to protest left-wing causes on a Friday, arguably their busiest and most profitable night! At this stage, I have been given a message that conservatives, or anyone center or right of center, are not welcome. I am a tolerant person, but the hate I feel towards conservatives in this place, a place that wears its politics on its sleeve, is becoming intolerable. So much so that I cannot support this place anymore. I am here to play in an open, safe environment for me, my friends, and my family, but if it is only 'safe' for 50% of the population, I will go and spend my money elsewhere! read more

I planned to go to their sealed event today at 1 and it's been posted that it will be held for over a week. I even canceled other plans to attend. When I called to confirm times this morning they said they canceled the event this morning for a cube event that started earlier this morning. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I am a huge game nerd. So I didn't try a coffee, but I enjoyed the hot chocolate I ordered. They also have a wide selection of games for sale and even games you can play for the day. Bring your DND group or gaming group and grab one of the many huge tables. On the coffee: Next time I'm there I'll get a espresso drink and report back, but this time I got just a basic cup of brewed coffee. They only had one kind served out of a pump pot. $2.50 for a 12oz. cup. It was okay but I could tell it had probably been sitting in the pot for a while (it was around 4pm that I was there). On one hand I'd happily pay a bit more than that for a fresh pour-over, but I think it's a bit steep for a cup that was drip-brewed hours prior. I wish they had a sign saying what the coffee of the day was (origin or blend or some info about it). On the gaming: Very nice, large area for board and card games. Tables are all sizable and very nice quality. Lighting is kept low like most coffeeshops that are set up to hang around for a while, but plenty still plenty bright enough to play games. Very low-key, quiet, relaxed atmosphere. They sell a large selection of board games and have a shelves of house games free to play on the wall, and they host events for various card, board, and RPG games. read more

Tried out this coffee shop after seeing such great reviews. Ordered an iced americano and a dirty chai. The iced americano tasted horrible - like dirty water. Looked horrible too. The dirty chai tasted like regular tea - not like chai and had no espresso flavor. Super disappointed. read more

Stopped in for a coffee while one of my kids was at a lesson. Great place for coffee they have good depth charges and standard coffee all from a local roaster that does just their coffee and a couple other places. They have a lot of fun games I'll be back to try their games it's well lit and very clean. I think they're gonna be putting in a bike stop where you can lock up bikes there in a very nice area for local bikers close to Penn cycle and I'm sure I will stop there on a training ride sometime once they get a bike set up in. read more

A great place for gaming with some decent coffee. Joined an early AM Dungeons & Dragons group for some nerd time. They have a large amount of tables for gaming in a large open room. Lodestone has a small retail area with the usual miniatures and gaming resources. Their retail prices seem comparable to other places. I got a cold press coffee and peach scone. They appear to have a good coffee selection with the usual lattes, cappuccinos, tea and cold presses. There was only one guy working the coffee counter so service was a little slow but not excessive. Prices were very reasonable. There appeared to be only one bathroom which was large and clean. read more

New shop in the area that includes a great selection of tabletop games, Magic the Gathering cards, and a local coffee and snack place. This is an amazing addition to the area and will quickly become our new go-to for Friday Night Magic, coffee, and tabletop games. We stopped in for the first time tonight and enjoyed delicious locally roasted coffee and sampled a board game with help from the store manager. Meanwhile there was an evening of MTG drafting happening as well. It was a great space with a staff of dedicated players who made our evening enjoyable. The space itself is wonderful-large tables for game playing, board games you can sample, a shopping area, a coffee bar and snacks at the back, and local art on the walls. Definitely stopping in again and would encourage other locals to do the same whether you're into games or just want to pick up some locally roasted coffee. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's such a great idea. Their coffee is from a local roaster that I love too. They put a lot of skill into choosing and roasting the bean which make all the difference to the coffee. On Wednesdays they do a game night that is like speed dating for games. You get to try the games before you buy them, drink coffee, and meet cool people. The owners are great guys as well. Very helpful and friendly.
