About a month ago, I had an absolutely lovely time here. It was so cute and cozy. When I left, they called me to inform me that they found my Apple Watch in the bed while cleaning! This is an older property that has everything you need and nothing you don't. Rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. We were traveling with our dog and our first floor room had plenty of space for a large dog crate. We also appreciated the mini kitchen. Shower and bath could use updates. The floor in our room was not level with gaps in the doors and created some vertigo when moving about the room. This is a solid budget friendly place to stay for a couple nights. Great location, steps from multiple places to get fresh fish. The Wharf Restaurant was excellent. read more

We visited Fort Bragg the beginning of October 2025. My husband booked this motel for us. Thinking I would like the harbor area. Every picture he showed me seemed to have some kind of view of the ocean from the room. I asked the cost. Seemed high to me after viewing room pictures he also showed me. But if it had views of the ocean harbor I thought it was actually a deal. Turns out the pictures I was looking at of the views where from The Wharf restaurant. The motel is across the parking lot. Once we mapped and arrived at our location. We did not see a check in office. We needed to drive back up the hill to check into the hotel over looking the harbor. I guess they have a few locations. Lady checking us in said they just bought the wharf restaurant also. They are remodeling it right now but was open..the first night we arrived they were not open closed for a private party. We noticed other sea food restaurants and market in walking distance. We walked to most of the restaurants near the motel. So happy every restaurant was very good. We only ate twice up in the down town area. Hard to explain the spot the motel is in. Felt like it was in an industrial area fishing business district type. Not a bad thing just felt like we shouldn't be there. Felt like we were away from everything it was quite expect for the birds and nature sounds. No road or highway noise. When arriving back from dinner a few times. We noticed how dark the front of the motel building was. No lights on the stair case. One night only half the building had lights. It was very dark on our side hard to see. Then by the morning all lights were on, on the outside. Probably a timer issue. We told the man at checkout. Also noticed the people in the room next to ours sat out some trash out side their door. Ugh it's all open air no inclosed hallway. Not a good idea with the birds and the ocean near by. Their trash was blowing all over the place. The motel had larger trash cans down stairs. I just tossed larger items or stuff I didn't want in the room down there. Really should have lids on there cans also. Looks like they are remodeling the motel also. The Wharf restaurant is remodeling that was noise during the day but not to bad. We also found an ice machine on the first level of the Wharf restaurant behind the stairs. I was happy to see that for my ice water. The motel had a little fridge, microwave, coffee maker..No a/c, no fans and no extra blankets. The rooms were cleaned very well for being old. I just noticed mold behind the shower faucet. Need to pull out to use it to noticed. But it should be scrubbed. Seemed musty once inside the shower. Sometimes the shower curtain did not stay in place so a lot of water was all over the floor. No one to find to get extra towels for mop up. read more

Love this place! The views are amazing! Booking was really easy ... as it spelled out which rooms had a view, which didn't, and which were pet friendly. We got the King bed harbor view that allowed a dog. It did not disappoint! We had a private balcony and were right over the water. Please note: Bring your own shampoo and conditioner but hair dryer and body wash/soap is available. Heater worked great. The Wharf restaurant is above the room and what fun to be able to walk to drinks and dinner! Great menu, good prices plus guests are given a 10% off coupon when checking in at the nearby Harbor Lite Lodge just above this location. Can't wait to stay here again! read more

A Hidden Gem With Incredible Staff & Wildlife Views...... This hotel is definitely a bit dated and worn, and it's tucked away in a somewhat unusual spot down by the docks -- but don't let that stop you. Just a heads‑up: check‑in is actually up the hill, so make sure you don't miss that little pull‑out area! What truly made our stay memorable was the staff, especially Sabrina. She made us feel welcome, listened to us, and genuinely cared. We had a small issue with our TV that couldn't be fixed, and she went above and beyond to make things right. Her kindness set the tone for our whole stay. And honestly... we didn't even end up needing the TV. In the morning, we woke up to the most amazing surprise -- SEALS, right outside our room! We watched them for hours: splashing around, eating fish, and making a whole ruckus. It was such a unique and wonderful wildlife experience that made our stay unforgettable. Didn't get to check in until after checkin time. No one available on the number the online registration said to call. Once we got in, the "Queen" bed is actually a full. So my wife and I don't quite fit. It is definitely not a queen. And the bed is so squishy. Zero back support. I didn't expect first class but I also didn't expect no class. Need an extra pillow? Don't bother. Absolutely no one on the property. Entry by a supplied 4 digit code. With no security lock... I wonder who has that code. Not sure I'll sleep well, if at all tonight. Owners: Charge a little more people and put some money into the place, and for goodness sake have someone on the property. read more

I booked this location with some trepidation because I had read a number of extremely critical reviews. However, it was the most affordable option with a coastal view, so I thought, "How bad can it be?" The rooms are humble, the furniture and decorations are dated. But, honestly, I was grateful. If the owners of this property had done a full renovation, it would have been over $400 a night to be directly on the water. I say that we should be glad that there's simple places to stay, so you don't have to be rich to enjoy the sunset over the water from your balcony. Our group used two rooms for two nights over the weekend. On the dates that we stayed, the property was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of towels. The in room coffee maker worked. The fridge was turned up a bit high and froze beverages, but that was a tiny inconvenience. The beds were fine. There's signage that warns about the hot water, so if you have children, set the shower temperature for them and advise them to not touch the faucet once settled. The WiFi was a bit slow at times, but we were there for the view, which didn't disappoint. The attached restaurant is great. And we absolutely loved staying right at the Noyo Harbor. My favorite spot to visit was the distillery nearby. It's an easy walk from the lodge, which is ideal because they are generous with their tasting flight pours! I will definitely stay here again! The only thing I would change is that I would love it if the managers had staff use a less strongly scented cleaning product. Until one airs the room out (easily done with a coastal breeze), it smells like chemical perfume in an unpleasant way. read more

Giving this place 3 stars to be generous. But the rooms were more like 2 stars. We stayed in the rooms across the parking lot (when I booked online, no where did it say we were staying away from the main building). The room we had, the heater didn't work so the room was freezing, we got moved to a room a few doors down but the walls were so thin we could hear the people next door whispering.... Loudly. The bathroom had small blood splatters on the ceiling. It wasn't worth what we paid, that is for certain. And to add insult to injury, when we were eating at the wharf restaurant, our server told us the owner gives 10% meal discounts to all of the other guests at his other surrounding hotels except for the people staying at Anchor Lodge. The food was great and the service was nice but overall, we were disappointed with the quality and for the price we paid. read more

Bed was comfy but the walls are so thin you can hear people in the next room arguing and a baby crying. Hearing the horn blast every minute is horrid so make sure to bring a fan so you can't hear it. I liked anchor lodge. We had some issues with self check in so I suggest arriving early, but the staff was helpful and remedied the situation swiftly so I won't hold that against them. The view from the room was great and very affordable! You could see the cute seals from the private deck which was very cool!! I was also a very big fan of the sliding glass door and deck so that we could have the fresh breeze in the room. Ample parking and could park close to the room. This motel is owned by Silver's at the wharf restaurant. I highly recommend having a meal there. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but you definitely get what you pay for. The motel is reasonably priced. You actually check in for the motel at the restaurant. The rooms are actually in two locations. They have rooms in the same building as the restaurant, some of those overlook the harbor. They also have a small motel style building across the parking lot. I stayed in the motel building. It was very nice. It looks like it had been recently renovated. The room and the bathroom were spotless, The bathroom was small but functional . the TV was small, but it got a lot of channels and a good picture. There is a small closet, and there is also a room in the back that has cabinets. The room with the cabinets is where the majority of the plugs are. There is a refrigerator, but no microwave. The bed was very comfortable. Not too hard, not too soft. One thing about the bed, is that it is a. Hard floor, no carpets, and the beds are on wheels. So every now and then my bed would slide over and almost block the door to the back room where the plugs were. I kept having to move the bed over. That was not a big deal. The only thing that kept this from Being a five star review was the Internet. It didn't work. My tablet kept trying to connect to the Wi-Fi of the restaurant, but because it was across the parking lot, it was too far away. The motel building is supposed to have its Own Wi-Fi. Somebody even came over and took a look, but we just could not get it to connect. I ended up using my phones cell signal as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Other than that, I had a great night. Probably would have rated the room 2.5 stars to be honest but overall the stay was decent. The AC does not work. The beds are very soft; if you have backaches..beware. The toilet is tugged in a very tight corner. The windows open up to the street and pretty much anyone can walk up and peep into the room. Walls are thin and there's constant footsteps from upstairs. Parking was assigned and two restaurants within walking distance. The heating unit is efficient. The area is safe, despite the appearance and candor of the locals. The staff were rude. The office was difficult to find at check-in. The WiFi was inconsistent and spotty. There were not enough electrical outlets to charge phone. Also, I killed a spider in the middle of the night. There's room for growth and improvement. However, if you need a lesser expensive option for an overnight trip... this may be your best bet. read more

Twice stayed and probably the last. The rooms under the restaurant are probably nicer, this is a review of the building across the parking lot with the big Anchor Lodge sign ontop. First off we have stayed twice there, both times in the building mentioned above. Queen sized beds that are very soft. The building is sagging badly in the middle and leaning. Water damage is evident on the ceiling of the room on this last stay. We stayed two nights but received towels for one. There isn't alot of attention paid by the hotel to this building and its guests. To their credit they are nice people and this last stay was a travelocity deal so I guess that's expected but won't stay again unless our room is on the restaurant side. read more

We reserved the family penthouse room for our family of 5. It was located right above the Silver at the Wharf's restaurant (check in is at the entrance on the right with the tall stairs). This penthouse room was so amazing and it was the size of a small apartment. It came with a phenomenal view of the ocean where you can watch boats come and go. There was a large bed, two small beds, and a fold out couch available for sleeping in. It came with a large kitchen, dishes, a coffee machine, a bathroom, a large dining table (perfect to do puzzles on and there is one available for use with the room). There is also a long patio with multiple chairs to sit on outside and enjoy the view. The motel is located in a harbor where there are a handful of restaurants, markets and other lodgings in this nook. They are walking distance from the motel. The only awkward thing is that diners are now dining outdoors during the quarantine. They will be able to see you come and go, however the room itself is quite private. I would also bring my own coffee to use in the coffee machine, and my own shampoo/conditioner since the ones provided are a foamy soap dispenser attached to the wall. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and the kids loved it so much. I highly recommend it! read more

Stayed here from 8/7-8/10/17. Very small lodge near the harbor. Plentiful parking and is safe. Rooms are clean, but the bathroom shower leaked. Pretty dated facilities, but you don't come to Fort Bragg for super modern and renovated shindigs. The management has limited hours, too. Spotty Wi-Fi. However, we really like this place because we got to use their dock for free! Took the kayak out and got to paddle up close and personal with the sea lions and even a seal no more than a few yards away from us. Wow! That alone is an experience you don't get every day. I'd come back just for that alone even if the rest of the room is cramped. Plus it's dog-friendly and the neighbors are pleasant. read more

Enjoyed our stay here, king non-smoking room with a waterfront view of the harbor. It's an older property to be sure, not fancy but we knew that going in. It's clean, quiet, and has a nice deck where you are basically right on the water at the mouth of the river. Lots of birds, also a couple of seals right outside the room. Trawlers going by, Coast Guard 44' boats too. Ate dinner and had drinks at Silver's upstairs, great food and nice bar. A really fun stay! read more

Update: 7/12/19 unfortunately we wanted to come back and stay here. No king rooms were available like we had last time. The rooms across the parking lot are absolute crap. The window lock didn't work the carpet was stained and the blanket was very dirty. Found another room and they were great about giving us our money back so that's good. Love this place. Ashley was super helpful when I was booking the room and also very patient with all my million questions. Get a room right below the restaurant with a balcony. It's super worh. read more

don't do the late check in. Manager told me if i can't get there by the time the resturr=nt closes then i should not come. Friday june 30 at 12:30 in the afternoon i talked to Jason the owners son and motel manager, i told him i would arrive around midnight or a little after and he said to us the late night chech in on line. i arrived at 12:40 in the morning and used the on line check in to sign in. it allowed me to sign in but said check in was incomplete. it said check in was at 1300 hours july 1. it automatically canceled my reservation at midnight. i texted and emailed and at 1:00am i drove 4 hours back home with no sleep. I had to call three times to get a hold of jason. he told me it was my fault for getting there so late and i shound not come over after the returant is closed. the resturant closes at 9:30 so i guess i'll just have to stay somewhere else. very bad customer service read more

Really dingy spot. That would be okay if they didn't refer to themselves as a 3-star hotel (are you kidding me?!). Broken/hanging by a thread smoke alarm, dirty room, stains everywhere, peeling paint on the walls, curtains that didn't cover the whole window so you have a good 12-16 inches of space people can easily see you (we resorted to hanging up some of our clothes to try and provide ourselves the privacy we were lacking). Just a mess and not worth the money. Also, not at all close enough to the water to boast as such. read more

I have stayed here a few times but the last time was absolutely perfect. The King size bed was the perfect firmness, height, everything! The room was amazing also. The balcony that hangs over the water into the harbor is what sets this place from the rest! The whole time we were there we had sea lions playing in the water outside our room. read more

This place is affordable and steps away from the ocean. The rooms are older but clean. You really are getting a great experience for the price. My kids enjoyed seeing the boats float through the harbor and watching the sunset at the Noyo Harbor beach. The restaurant attached to the hotel is AMAZING. It's pricey but worth the splurge. There is no concierge so if you are someone who needs help there are numbers on the door but that's it; it didn't bother us but I can see it being annoying to some. This place was advertised as a 3 star hotel, but is closer to a 1 star hotel. It was also advertised as being next to the ocean, but it was in the back of a parking lot in the harbor. The floor was not level, there were scuff marks on the walls, the carpet was stained and parts of it had been cut out and replaced, and the smoke alarm looked old and was dismantled. The curtains were not black out curtains and were too small for the windows so passers buy could see in the room, the ceiling tiles were in bad condition, and there was no power outlets. In short, this place was a trashy motel that falsely advertised itself as a classy joint with misleading pictures. read more

ANCHOR LODGE HAS BED BUGS!!! My husband and I planned a quiet weekend away after months of working with no play. We were told that this would be a lovely place to unwind and relax. Well, as lovely as Ft Bragg is, Anchor Lodge is not. We awoke after our first night's stay in a bed full of BED BUGS. My husband woke up early morning before I did to use the bathroom. When he climbed back into bed, he saw the first one. He immediately woke me up and told me what was going on. I leaped our of bed and called management. No answer. I went out to the office, no one was there. Went up to the restaurant and saw an emergency phone number on the wall. Called it and the person on the other end told me they KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE and thought they solved the problem. He also told me they weren't supposed to rent that room out (#20) because this has been an issue for quite some time. WTF???! The only way to solve a bed bug problem is to trash of everything infected. The bed, carpet, furniture, etc. this has CLEARLY not happened because the rooms were obviously lady decorated in the late 80's. Long story short, we left half of our belongings in the room and jetted our of there at 7am. My husband and I were completely freaked out. Sadly, he was practically eaten alive by the disgusting bugs. I, however, didn't get a single bite. I don't know how but I got out physically unscathed. We had to take what we thought wasn't affected, wash/dry in hot water. We have all that stuff wrapped in plastic trash bags, sitting outside. The Anchor Lodge has refunded the cost of the room and our lunch but has made it quite clear that they have ZERO INTENTIONS on taking the proper action needed to get rid of their new pest pets. THIS IS YOUR WARNING. IF YOU DONT WANT BED BUGS, STAY AWAY!!! Yes, I've called the Health Department. read more

I made reservations a week in advance for my trip and I drove three plus hours just for them to tell me that they had our name in the system but just didn't put us in a room. We didn't get one sorry from anyone all they said was "I don't know what to tell you guys". They didn't try to to help us at all with trying to get a room at there sister hotel down the street. Stayed here 2 nights-9-28,29.. I realize it's Covid time, very difficult to check in upon finally finding the place, had to go into a bar, the bar tender was extremely rude, almost yelling. We were told we had to go to the door down the hall, I did, (also the place where the waitresses ordered drinks,) she rudely told me that someone else would have to come help me, to stand over there, I did then she yelled i couldn't stand there go back!!! Okay, so confused!!! The lady that checked us in was very nice. Went to the room, I will say it was clean, but that's about it. There were strips on no carpet on the floor, the shower had the non slip tape on the floor, well partially anyway, most was gone and/or turning up and blackened. No hooks or anywhere to hang a towel near the shower. The shower was interesting, all of a sudden the hot water would go away and be cold, then it would come back on... the shower head was at about 5'3"... the towel bar fell off the wall. Not at any time we're we told that there was no maid services, I am not in the hotel industry so I was unaware that there were no services due to Covid. They were not going to supply additional towels, we had to request those and another packet of coffee. Oh, and no phone in the room at all!! There were very few plugs, 1 lamp, no lights to speak of... We had to pay full price for this dilapidated room with no services!!!! We should have been told at the time of making the reservation, or at least at check in that there were no services available... I will not return nor recommend this facility. read more

I love this place. I always make sure to get a room that is right over the water in the harbor. The prices are very fair and the rooms are a bit dated but that was no issue for me. Anytime I stay in Fort Bragg, I stay here. The location is perfect for when you want to get out and go walk around the harbor or the beach. The restaurant upstairs is damn tasty but I must admit, I love the bar. There was a bartender there with dreadlocks and she was extremely kind and great to talk to. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. If you're expecting diamonds and glitter, go elsewhere. This place is not for you. A fisherman's delight. read more

Never again! We paid 100 dollars for one night and we had a room under the outside staircase, we heard people stomping around all night and all morning. We were also in a room where pets are allowed and both have cat allergies and woke up basically not breathing. Now that we are sleep deprived and swollen, goodbye Fort Bragg! No refrigerator to put our leftovers and we went to talk to someone about how our visit went and we were told we would have to call them another day when someone was in. My family and I stayed from December 30th until January 3rd and I'd like to share a few experiences we had there that are concerning to say the least. First of all the bathroom for the restaurant customers is right under the guest house and someone walked up and told my uncle they were maintenance and proceeded to go to the restroom and poop on the toilet. After we told management there was no follow up. On Friday I went to use the restroom in the middle of the night and when I turned on the light huge roaches ran under the sink and I was actually able to take a picture of one that was by our tooth brushes!! Gross. We told maintenance and he came and sprayed still nothing changed they were still there and all management said was "thank you for letting us know". On our last night there they had a homeless guy sleeping in the doorway of their office as people were sitting near by eating and drinking. Definitely won't be going back there again read more

I stayed there 11-12 June. My room was located in the building across the parking lot. Unbeknownst to me, I could have upgraded to a nicer room for a few bucks more. The room I was given was definitely dated and seen better days. The bed, at least, was comfortable; however, NO mini fridge, microwave or in-room phone! Also, the wall AC outlets (only 2 in the room, mind you) were the old 2-prong style, with no 3rd for grounding. So... I had to make a run to the local Rite-Aid to purchase an adaptor. How crazy is that? My room window faced the harbor, which allowed for nice ocean breezes. However, it also allowed for lots of noises from the restaurant parking lot. My advice: spend a few bucks more for a room in the restaurant building. Or stay elsewhere. For my money, on my next visit I will probably choose another property for my lodging. read more

We stayed here a couple nights at the end of June. I loved the deck outside the room overlooking the harbor and the bridge. Very calming and beautiful. It was fun to watch boats go by and saw some sea lions(?) too. The room was very clean, the beds were comfy and a small fridge and microwave were provided in the room. We got a good rate on the room also. I guess you could say the decor is a bit dated, but it's part of the charm. We also ate at the Sea Pal restaurant a bit down the road (walking distance) which has amazing seafood. Prawns and chowder are a must have. It really was a wonderful experience for us and we are planning a trip in September for whale watching. read more

Just had a recent stay over memorial day weekend paid $177 for two nights would of asked for a refund but all the other hotels had no other vacancies. The room needed repairs went to open the window the whole frame holding in the glass is broken the glass window almost fell on me the ceiling was disgusting. Carpets were gross no shower head. Walls are extremely thin was upstairs the maids room was underneath the bathroom all you can hear at 8am to wake you up is there loud music and dryer and them talking in Spanish so much for sleeping in both nights I stayed. The locks are outdated it was a keyed room felt unsafe seeing how they only had one key to give us. Went to try out the their food since it was right across the hotel we wanted to sit outside but was told it was reserved for a large party so walked out with out buying food from any of there establishments the whole 3 days we were there was the whole deck really reserved or did they not want to serve us stay clear do not waste your money a lot of homeless in that side of town! read more
