    Private cliff trail

This was our first time camping and we couldn't have asked for a better campground! The sites were spread out and felt private, the outhouses were super clean, and the grounds was quite and inviting. Also it was super handy to have firewood on site to purchase when we ran out! 10/10 recommend!

The Jughandle Creek Farm is a cute little guest house located across from the Jughandle State Reserve. Monica and Michael, the new care takers, were WONDERFUL and EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. We stayed upstairs in one of the bedrooms in the Farm House. They have a couple of private cabins and a campground. There is also a Nature Educational Center. The farmhouse has 3 shared bathrooms for all guests, shared living and dining areas, and a large shared kitchen for cooking. They have an organic garden which guests are free to pick from. Sheets and towels are included, bring your own warm bedding it gets cold at night. There is limited cell for phone service, so dont expect internet or phone calls, they have a payphone outside if needed. Fees are per person and extremely reasonable. This place was a great find, we loved our stay here.

You can take a trail from the property, under the Hwy to the Jug Handle bluffs. This was the most calm I have ever seen the ocean here.

We rented out the Jug Handle for our wedding. We rented the house+ cabins on a Friday night and the whole place on the following Saturday a weekend in September. Factors in the decision: it was really affordable, many people could stay at the house, cabins, and camp, and the property was really quite charming. We were so happy that we choose the location. It helped that Saturday we had great weather. When looking for a wedding venue, we searched in San Francisco, around the bay area and Mendocino. My mom lives up in Mendocino and we went up to see her one weekend and check out places. We didn't have the Jug Handle on our list of places to check out that weekend, but I had seen the website, and when we were driving by we stopped there on a whim. The woman managing the property at that time was super sweet and let us look around. We loved the property, the pictures online at that time didn't do it justice. We also really liked that we would be giving our money to a non-profit that looked like it contributed to the community, as an alternative to feeling like we were just being gouged by renting a popular "wedding" venue. We were not looking for fancy. We were a little concerned when the management changed earlier this year, if the new people would be Ok and if rules would change. But things worked out really well. We corresponded with Michelle for questions, who answered emails promptly and Warren greeted us when we checked in Friday and was awesome. He was nice on Sunday too when were were scrambling to pack/clean up. They requested we rent a port-a-potty for the event, as there had been trouble before, Michelle said with a group of school children that clogged the pipes. It was our backup, but we didn't end up needing it. We used the large area downstairs in the house for drinks after the ceremony and later dancing, the area behind the house and the orchard for dinner. We had photos taken at the Jug Handle bluffs during the "golden hour" (there is a path from the property that goes under Hwy 1). We had many people stay in the house and cabins and a few people that went camping. We rented tables, chairs, heat lamps, lights from Matt Rowlands and the orchard was so pretty at night for tables for dinner for about 60 people. The house is old, but really cool and it was clean. It was a perfect venue for what we were looking for. Many people at the wedding commented on how nice the property was (we were so lucky it was a beautiful, clear weekend)

Indoor dinner reception. Some rentals/some tables from JugHandle.

Paying for the Breathtaking whitewater views, it is a dump! It is NOT a beautiful lovely home…read more We arrived Thursday afternoon. The drive, ocean view and house from the outside was beautiful! And we were so disappointed when we opened the front door. The smell was bad, we thought it has been closed up, open the windows and air it out. A few hours later, we drove to Safeway and bought candles the smell stayed. I think it is best to be honest in the description of this place, it only sleeps 6 with privacy. In the family/TV room, there is a bed, and 3 couches, I guess that is why they can accommodate 10 lucky guests. The window seat is all torn and NOT comfy! The country kitchen is OLD, and cold! No screen on the master bedroom, so no sound of the waves crashing! The wild life was cool deer, whales, turkeys, and a fox. At $439/night, you can find a better place. I sent a photograph of the coffee pot to vacasa, and they brought a brand new over. The fire stove in the living room was so dirty the embers and soot landed on the deck, we thought it might go up in flames. They apologized for not being able to clean the chimney whilst we were there. The kitchen heater was turned off, so we could not stay in the kitchen in the morning and evening we could not have breakfast or dinner together as a family because it was so cold. Again, they apologized for not being able to have heat whilst we were there!!! The TV, has something wrong, we tried to watch a movie one night, whilst my nephew was sleeping next to us, on HBO and it kept pausing, really annoying. Vacasa told us "yeah, it does that sometimes" The bathrooms are all outdated, and I could handle that but the toilet running downstairs was annoying. When I go on holiday, I want to be on holiday not have to worry about a running toilet, broken tv, cold kitchen, or deck burning down. Next time we will all stay at the Beachcomber or the Heritage House. This was a family wedding for 5 days at Holly's Place, and my 87 year old father joined us, he was cold and uncomfortable. We will not be back. This property was not a good fit for our family. Go to The Q, Silvers, Cowlicks, Mendocino Chocolate, Skunk Train and old station building, Botanical Gardens, No Glass Beach, The Redwoods, and Mara's coffee for hot coffee and a warm place to sit and enjoy the paper.

We had emphasized to our guests to be on time for their shuttle pick ups using the schedule provided to us by the company. One of the shuttles was EXTREMELY late for the pickups (between 30 and 45 minutes for some of them). They told the guests that the schedule didn't make sense to them and so they made their own schedule up. This led to a ton of confusion on the wedding day. Some of the guests had actually gotten into their cars to drive themselves because they didn't think anyone was coming by the time the shuttle showed up. One of our guests wanted to go home a little after 11 PM. A different (female) shuttle driver told him they only wanted to go back to his Airbnb one more time so our guest would have to wait until the rest of his party was ready to leave. He ended up waiting two hours later than he wanted. This is absolutely not what we had agreed. In our calls we had discussed multiple times that the shuttles would be running continuously from 10-2 AM to all destinations. All in all, the day was a complete mess from a transportation perspective and fell completely short of the services that we had agreed to and paid for. Before posting this review, I brought these events to the attention of the business owner who did not apologize for our experience and scapegoated his team.
