Honest Review: We won't be returning Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. We had to change rooms twice just to find something somewhat acceptable, hoping for a newer and more comfortable mattress--but that wasn't the case. The mattresses are thin, cheap spring mattresses with no pillow top, so you can feel and even hear the springs when you move (especially in rooms 501 & 104). It made for one of the worst nights of sleep we've ever had. Our backs are so unpleasantly aching today. Not fun when on vacation ! There was also a strong, unpleasant funky odor in the rooms, likely coming from the old, dirty carpet. We had to keep the heater on and the sliding door open just to make it tolerable. The sofa bed in the first room (#501) we were given was in very poor condition--worn out and had a strong, funky smell. Overall, this was not a comfortable or enjoyable stay, and we would not return. read more

Thought we'd give this place a try on our annual trip to the ocean side town of Ft Bragg and we really liked it. There was a fair bit of road noise, but you got used to that pretty quickly and that's not the property's fault. EVERY staff member we interacted with, was incredibly nice and super helpful. The rooms were large (there was three of us), the beds were comfortable, the showers hot with good water pressure and it was a genuine surprise to find somewhere like this, for such a reasonable price. We've stayed in some complete dumps in this town but this was a nice surprise and well worth the price (which was actually really good). We will absolutely be return guests. read more

Honest review: Stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is centrally located which is really nice. We had the queen bedroom with a view, room 504. The view was really nice, but it was also right next to the road so it can get pretty noisy when you're trying to sleep. When we checked in, the lady who helped us wasn't rude but she wasn't warm and friendly either. I was kind of put off, but the room made up for it though. It was really nice and had plenty of room, the bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows and towels. It was clean and they had a microwave and a mini fridge, coffeemaker, and hair dryer. However, the room had a strange smell to it. Maybe it's just old? We had to leave a window cracked open to air it out. There were random holes that were stuffed with tin foil. The doors get loud when other guests slam their doors. Parking is small but we never had issues with parking. This place is close to the skunk train and is walking distance to glass beach so that is a HUGE plus! And last, this inn is right across a cemetery (you can check it on maps), if I had known I probably wouldn't have booked it, but if that doesn't bother you then you'll like staying here. read more

Bad bed, bad tv, no EV charger: One of the two queen beds was faulty- extremely loud creaks when you sleep. Was told by maintenance that nothing was wrong with the bed. Also- their tv is not compatible with Apple TV. I was told others had complained of this as well, but Roku works fine. Well goody- that really doesn't help me. Finally- was told that I could destination charge. Turns out that you have to drive to a companion hotel for that. With an average of 5 hours for 80% charge, that is not feasible. read more

It's a quaint place near the waters with a nice view. The beds and bathroom are modern, however the internet was not working the entire time which made it challenging for me to chat and research with my SO for some matters. After letting them know we had no access to internet, they offered a $20 discount. The rooms also smell very strong of an old pungent smell. Had a nice 1 night stay! Room was cozy and had a balcony overlooking Pudding Creek. It was on the small side, but the bed was very comfortable, everything was clean, and even though we worried about hearing highway noise at night, I heard nothing! Very quiet. Our room wasn't ready when we tried to check in (we were early, so this was expected) so we decided to open our bottle of wine at the picnic table and enjoyed the view while we waited. Staff was friendly and we loved that the hotel was an easy walk to and from town. No need to drive if you don't want to. read more

Work sends us to Mendocino County a few times a year, so this review is long overdue. This was the only available hotel when we stayed last spring, and we're so glad it was this place. Our corner room faced Pudding Creek and the bridge. We kept the window open to enjoy the cool, refreshing breeze. Our room was clean and cost less than expected in this area. Their sister motel is right down the road that is 24/7 so if you're ever too late for check in they have your stuff seriously 30 seconds down the road waiting!! The room smelt really really good and had such a beautiful view, we will definitely be visiting here again. Idk how they feel about the cats being fed that roam around the inn but we fed them treats and watched the sunrise with the kitties:) read more

I booked a room here for two nights through Travelocity. It was affordable and highly recommended on Yelp and other places. First of all, when I arrived the gentleman at the check-in desk was super friendly and accommodating. Always a good sign. When I got to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. There is one main door that opens to five rooms so it really is a beach house, per se. The room was clean and inviting. The furniture was nice along with the decorations, and everything looked well preserved and taken care of. The faux fireplace was a nice touch as well. Also had a view of the overpass and water. Not sure the name of the body of water. Pudding Creek maybe? Either way, it was a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Fort Bragg that needs a very clean and inviting place to stay. read more

Meh. This was not what I expected, based on previous, exuberant reviews. It's not on the beach, which I knew, but it does overlook a small estuary and is removed from the hubbub of town. And the curb appeal from the highway is fine. But after dealing with the gruff lobby clerk and seeing the room, it felt much more like a fleabag motel to me. Very downmarket vibe. The tide was out, so the creek below was slimy mud (perhaps why it is called "pudding creek"). At least the price was on the lower side for this area (150-ish per night). I think I had their lowest-rate room. As for my room, it was...weird. Clean but very dated and run-down. Sort of like a tiny studio appt from the 1980s with a microwave and bathroom sink crammed together into one corner. The curtains were held together with a binder clip. My view was of the parking lot and highway. Thankfully the bed was just firm enough for me to get some needed sleep. (I was lucky to have no loud neighbors.) Wi-fi worked fine. Breakfast was provided but was basically 'Continental on-the-cheap,' consisting of coffee, juice, and packaged pastries of uncertain age. I needed something more substantial, so I passed. At least they didn't charge extra for parking. In short, not a place to spend time relaxing for an entire weekend, unless you're in a way nicer room. (It's not a walking neighborhood, and there's no place to hang-out except the room). But it was fine for a quick night on the road w/o spending a fortune. About a 3-star stay for me, but I'm subtracting one more star to help offset the numerous 5-star reviews. And attempting to reduce, ever so slightly, the chance that others will be fooled - like I was. read more

Picked up this one for our stay in Fort Bragg after going through the description on expedia website. Thought this was ocean facing.l, but actually it's not. It's facing the Pudding creek, but the view wasn't disappointed. We were late to arrive, and received a call from them saying the check in is in one of their sister concerns down the road. We went there, checked in, collected the keys and came back to the hotel. It was pretty late and we could only find a parking near the office. The room was very clean and comfortable. No nuisance or sounds from near by rooms. The amenities were good. The best part - a working / clean coffee maker. The beds were comfy and helped us a lot to relax after a long ride. Value for money. Loved the stay there. If we are visiting this area again, would absolutely love to stay here. read more

Stayed here during Labor Day weekend and will never be back. Tried to get early check in (check in is at 3pm, we got there at 2:25pm), and was told with COVID, additional time is needed to clean the room..fair enough, right?!? Wrong. The bathroom floor was covered in hair (obviously not ours), the room (403) had that unmistakable stench that accompanies nursing homes..you know the one-the baked in urine and feces smell? Yep, that smell. The thermostat in the room is there for decorative purposes only and does not actually work, the carpet is stained to hell with god knows what, and did I mention the smell of feces and urine?!? Because it's definitely there to stay! We had the balcony slider open for 10 hours and when we returned, the smell still lingered. Oh, and since we are talking about feces, how do you feel about sleeping in rat shit? Yea, that's actual rat shit (see photo), tucked down at the foot of the bed, in between the sheets...great job on "cleaning" the room! And you would think that for $200/night they could afford a monthly pest control service but nah, let's have some nasty spiders live in the nasty bathroom, and let them crawl all over the hair covered floor!! I have never felt dirty after staying at a hotel before but this was a new for me! Hell, I have experienced homelessness and still felt cleaner than I did staying here! read more

I call f-ing shenanigans on this hotels ads. I don't know when they took the "ocean view" pictures but it must have been before they built a giant dirt wall and condos. Of course from my balcony I do have a very nice view of the inlet/drainage ditch into the ocean. Seriously WTF. Other than that... It's a nice spot. Nice and clean. I have a huge three person tub in the my room and it appears as if I'm ready to party. There's a little sandy area you can walk down to if u want to swim in the inlet. The staff seemed really nice and they have an office cat that will come to you if you shake a creamer around. read more

I had a really bad experience canceling a reservation here. The Beach House Inn looks really nice. It appears you get a lot for your money, and I was really looking forward to my stay. It was planned as a stop on the way home from a wedding in Chico. My wife and I were planning to extend our weekend here. I was bummed out when both weather and itineraries changed, and I had to cancel. This woman answered the phone who sounded really, really cheery. This brings me hope; I'm happy to be met with a voice that sounds so human. I let her know I was unfortunately canceling. Without any loss of cheer, she says, "okay! That's no problem. Of course, because it is less than 72 hours ahead of time, you'll be charged for the stay, but of course, canceling is not a problem. Thank you for calling!" And you know when someone delivers bad news really cheerfully, and it just comes off as condescending and patronizing? Anyway, I let her know that the email I received with my reservation says I could cancel within 48 hours of check-in. Less cheerfully, she replies, "well, that's not how it works, but why don't you forward me the email, and if it says that, I'll honor it. But our website says 72 hours." Consider for a moment, I was factually correct about the 48 hour cancellation window stated in the email. I'm immediately concerned, as this suggests one of two possibilities, and I can't figure out which is worse: 1) The policies in official Beach Inn documentation vary widely and inconsistently 2) The staff is completely unaware of corporate policy I ask where I can send the email to, and although Beach Inn has a web/email domain, she tells me to send it to a third-party email. I oblige, send it to that email, but I CC the "info@" email listed in my reservation confirmation. I recap our discussion and highlight the part that says 48 hours. The email from the third-party site bounces back. I call back, speak with her, and she says "Oh! It turns out they just changed the email. Instead of BeachHouseInnFortBragg@, it's BeachHouseFortBragg@." I re-send, CC'ing again info@(official domain). I don't hear back from our cheerful front desk staff, but the corporate email account responds, confirming the cancellation. I was really bummed out that I had to cancel, and I was really looking forward to a future stay at Beach Inn at a later date. However, this interaction was so sloppy and unprofessional, I will be looking elsewhere for next time. In fact, it rubbed me the wrong way to such a degree, I took the time to write this out. Oh, also, I went to that email domain to see if I could register that "BeachHouseInnFortBragg@" - turns out I could, which means this front desk lady was lying to me the whole time. It didn't just change, in fact, it never existed. Honestly, we all make mistakes, and it doesn't take much to say "I'm so sorry, I was mistaken, here's the correction." My dad always told me, if someone is willing to lie to you about the little things, they'll lie to you about the big things. Find somewhere trustworthy to stay. read more

We got a room with a soaking tub. The tub was nice accept the jets were broken. The maids never came around to clean our room even though we left our sign on the door for them to freshen up. Our bed was absolutely horrible. For someone with back issues, the bed made it much worse. Unfortunately we probably won't be back. read more
