Front desk Social Security employee(Carmen) at the Lodi office needs more OJT(on the job training). My wife needed to add a middle initial to her social security card to match exactly her drivers license and the social security employee (Carmen) told us that she needed all original copies of birth certificate and birth certificate translation and gave us an appointment for two days later. My wife went to talk to the same lady the next day to see if she could change the time of the appointment and Carmen was rude and said what appointment? I'm not going to work the front that day. So my wife drove all the way to Sacramento to get an original birth certificate at her country's consulate and brought it back and another lady(Mrs Fisher) who assisted her, and told my wife she didn't need the originals, that copies were fine just to add a middle initial to the social security card. Mrs Fisher provided much better service and was nice, not rude at all like Carmen. All the unnecessary time, gas, money and frustration and unnecessary rudeness because of an incompetent lady(Carmen) that does not know her job and gives incorrect information. Incredible. I've got to say. Fast, efficient, friendly. The security guard was very typical, kind and doing his job. I waited barely a minute after I checked in and they were ready for me at the desk. The clerk was kind and quickly moved me along. Overall I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! A better experience than I was anticipating based off of previous reviews. read more

I did not feel there was adequate seating for handicapped persons in a wheelchair chair. Also the counter was difficult to approach in a wheelchair because there were chairs in the way. read more

Drove an hour to Lodi to take care of business here. First impressions was awful. I walked in and greeted the security guard, his name tag said " Bergstadt" he must have been having a crap day or grumpy because he isn't a real cop...I'm not sure, but either way he is extremely inappropriate. He went through his spill about checking bags, which is fine...I get it. What I DON'T get is he took forever to check my tiny purse, dropping my receipts, pulled out my wallet and opened it and searched all the zippered parts!! I said " excuse me" "why are you opening up my wallet? He said pocket knives can fit in there! Omg!! Absolutely not in my small wallet, thats absurd! He then pulled my cell phone out and shoved it across his counter at me and said "make sure you turn your ringer off on this" unbelievable!! Why wasn't I allowed to retrieve my own phone from the bottom of my purse!? Who does that? I have been to many places in my lifetime that require bags to be searched and never in my life have I had a security guard be so invasive! They don't even act like this at court houses! I was blown away at his behavior and attitude. I watched five men come in right behind me and NOT one of them had their wallets checked/opened/etc. Can their wallets not hold "knives" I was absolutely singled out and discriminated against for whatever reason. Maybe he doesnt like women? I will be filing a formal complaint as well as escalating this in hopes it doesn't happen to another woman. Mr Bergstadt needs urgent training on what's appropriate and most importantly, legal! I see many other reviews here complaining about him and his behavior but clearly nothing is being done. I would give the them less if I could. My wife tried to drop off some forms (sealed) but saw the drop off hours and came home. I drove back during drop off hours, and there's no outside drop off box. The doors were locked and it was 1:30pm. The security guard came to the door and asked me if I had a mask, I thought he was going to let me in for access to the drop box. I said no and he went and got me one. He asked me what I wanted and I said I needed to drop my sealed forms off in the drop box. He asked me what was in my envelope and I said forms. He told me I could not drop them off!!! I said I was following the instructions on the window. He said NO!! I was shocked and a little pissed. He told me I needed to mail the forms in and I stated the sign says drop off hours right there. He again said NO!! I asked if he could take my sealed forms and put them in the drop off box and he said NO!!! I was so upset that when he started to close the door I threw my sealed envelope inside thinking he had to take it and I walked away. As I got to my vehicle I turned around and saw he had thrown my envelope on the side walk with all my personal information in it. I walked back and picked up my envelope and yelled that I was a taxpayer and is this the way we get treated by a government agency!!! We came here early and get in line outside but since my parents doesn't have an appointment, the ones with appointment get inside first. We were briefed with the very courteous security guard . He lay down his rules with respect . When we got inside , we were placed in the 6th window to check us in and the lady is a little rude and she just want to check us in , in a second with a little rudenesss. When they got finally called , we were treated with a nice lady in the back and worked on my parents cases . She's very patient and very nice. I would've given it 5 stars if it weren't for the rude lady in the front . I just want to reminded her that it's my social security payments that makes gives her job , right ? read more

I called this branch on 11/17/2020 around noon to request a translator for my dad, as he does not speak English well and has an appointment days down the road. A woman picked up my call. Her English wasn't too clear, so I didn't quite get her name, if she even gave me one. She was rude and unprofessional. When I asked her if the request for a translator can be fulfilled, she impolitely said "yes" and I asked her "which languages are available"? She went on and said "whichever is on his records". And hung up on me. She didn't ask for my dad's name, appointment time/date, or which language he speaks. Whoever she is, bless her heart. I hope her supervisor will speak with her about her professionalism, courtesy, and customer service. read more

I did not know that the job of one of your security guards was to harrass my 12 year old daughter and tap on my car door as she was waiting for me while i was shopping at Cosmoprof. I dont see why he could not wait til i got out of the store to question me personally?? he has no right to say anything to my kid while she's safely waiting for me in my car.!! It is so amazing how they help people. After the guard check our bags, we go to the machine to get a number. Our number was called and The lady on No. 5 explain to us what to do. Then my name was called and i was instructed to go to No. 9. Ms. Manny Bun helps me, get all my documents and help me to correct the input in my online application. She is very knowledgeable of what to do and explains to me everything i need to know. I have never expected that it will go this fast, since i heard a lot of things that it is so hard to go to SS office. This is an eye opener to me that not to believe on every thing written or said. You have to experience it yourself.... We just move here in Lodi last May, 2019 and so far it is all good.....Thanks to SSA Lodi especially to Ms. Manny Bun for making my life a lot easier...... We did not have appointment, 3/6/2018, went in the Lodi office for a replacement Social Security card. Waited about one hour and then got called to the window. My mother did not have her new California ID card yet, I was told what they would accept for Evidence of Identity, 1 is a Certificate of Naturalization, original with the seal stamp, which we had, it was issued to my mother in 1958. The agent told us the certificate is too old and expired., which is not acceptable for evidence of identity. This agent would not accept this documents and said we had to come later with other documents. He is wrong because the the Certificate of Naturalization do not expire, this agent needs more training before helping people. I told him when I called before going to Lodi office, a agent told us this document is acceptable, but he said that we was told wrong information. I should have asked him to check with someone else before leaving. This information is on the www.socialsecurity.gov website Agents working the window needs more training, from my past contact with people in this job position, they mostly do not ask for help when they are not sure. This is the worst Social Security office I have ever been to. I had to go 4 times to get a simple social security replacement card for my teenage son. The lady which was the same for all four times kept changing the requirement. I was not given the paper listing the requirements on the 3rd trip. I followed the paperwork and provided original county birth certificates, medical records, shot records, medical cards, school picture ID cards, court records indicating my son was mine, and they still refused to honor my request. OK well I have my 3 year evaluation that I had an interview by phone on May 8th at that point I was going to be told what to bring into the office over the phone I have a letter stating that I called I was very confused if it was a phone interview or a walk-in interview because it states both in the letter so that's the reason why I called mrs. Olds she told me that it was a phone interview on May 8th once again nobody called I have left since May 8th afternoon 12 messages still no call. So I called another number that I was given and I talked to a very nice lady I'm not sure of her name she told me to hang on a minute mrs. Olds was in an interview I told her not to bother her that was okay just have her to give me a call she told me to hang on cuz she could tell I was upset she came back and told me that mrs. Auld told her that I was okay I was just fine since then I have not heard one word so I just called and got hung up on by another employee when I try to explain that was a phone interview to escalate into a walk-in interview he insisted that I did not show up that was to come to the office so long story short somewhat I am calling right now to find out to appeal the Lodi office and the employees they have working there oh forgot to mention yeah when I talk to this other lady very nice woman she told me that they were short-handed because there was a terrible bug that was going around the office that's the reason why mrs.Olds more than likely has not gotten back to me oh yeah forgot to mention one more thing I get hung up on after holding for 20 minutes. Called to make a change of schedule for my grandparents who doesn't speak English and told them they can't no longer drive so it has to be a specific day so they can get a ride there. They gave me an attitude and say they won't schedule with me in a rude unprofessional way. All she had to say was I'm sorry but I can't talk to you about this and it has to be your grandparents and we will have an interpreter to call and reschedule. That's it.. I left a bunch of voice mail messages for weeks to reschedule all they had to do was call and let me know . I told the I told lady about it.. and her response was we don't sit at our desk all day you know. Well, I been calling for weeks leaving a message. They can have the courtesy to call back and at least let me know that they don't accept calls from me and that they will call my grandparents back to reschedule with an interpreter. The staff sure need to learn some phone etiquette and try to help to a person who is calling. They need to review who they hire here. read more
