How far we've come, San Diego. I remember just a few years back there was no place to get a good cup of coffee. Now we have such a surplus that when a new coffee place opens that looks cool, it takes me a month to finally make it there. I had a slow day today so decided to use a Lyft credit to get over to parking-difficult Little Italy to try Lofty. I always try the regular drip coffee first, and thought it was reasonably priced at $2 (and had just been brewed). No stevia or even splenda, so I went old school with regular sugar. Was it good? Yes. Was it the best coffee I've had in San Diego? Sadly, no. I'm spoiled, I told you that. If I lived in the area, I'd be stoked to make this my coffee shop. The layout is cool and open, and it just feels very San Diego. Friendly service, too. I'll happily come back if I find myself in the area. read more

I'm a flight attendant and always on the hunt for new açaí places for my layovers and this one was just as good as the ones I get in Hawaii! Yes! I get to be the first one to review this awesome place! My bf and I are from out of town and were lucky enough to stumble upon this cafe since it's across the street from our hotel. Ok so coffee first, I had their Turkish latte which had really good flavor with the cardamom. My bf had the Kyoto style iced coffee, which was also delicious. We also ordered a peach apple almond croissant and gluten-free chocolate chip cookie which were out of this world. The atmosphere of the cafe is very clean and has a trendy modern vibe. The employees are really nice and the layout is great. I love the big tables that almost force you to interact with the people around. It creates a sense of community which is neat. Unfortunately, their coffee is just okay. Nothing too spectacular as far as flavors goes. They have a more eccentric list of menu items such as their Turkish latte that has cardamom spice in it. The cardamom overpowers the latte in my opinion. You can order a regular vanilla latte and I have done that too just try to try see if a basic latte had a more full bodied flavor. Unfortunately, the coffee flavors were still muted and I tasted more vanilla syrup than I would have liked. I also ordered a simple croissant and I think they baked the batch too long because it was more crunchy than soft. It was borderline scone. Their internet is good and for a short duration but I have experienced a big lag in the time it takes to load a window or download a small file. Unfortunately, coffee shops don't put much money into the internet and this shop is no exception. It might be worth revisiting and as easy as a simple commercial router upgrade. I feel like this location is still new so I'm sure they have time to improve the recipes and the staff might need a bit more time to learn. All and all I am more likely to try to continue my search to find a mobile workspace because I don't think lofty coffee will work for me. read more

I got the salted caramel latte with macadamia milk for an up-charge to wash down a zucchini & cranberry muffin. This new coffee spot is in a great location and has courtesy staff. You order at the counter and seat yourself if you choose to dine in. My friend and I both have dogs and appreciate how dog friendly the seating area was. This is a very cool place- mostly outside sitting. It's perfect for a sunny day in San Diego. Their chai tea is brewed fresh and sure with a creamy steamed milk. I had that with an Italian panini gluten free. Quite delicious gluten free bread. It was nutty with chunks of almonds inside. I also had the gluten free banana muffin. It too was delicious. A bit more dense than most muffins, but moist and fresh tasting. Service was great. We did not have to wait long for our food. I was pleased they had gluten free options. The mocha was good. However, somehow when you ask them for avocado toast...you know toast with avocado mounted on top of it hence the name. They don't understand and bring out toast. With avocados on the side. After being asked if I wanted jam with my avocado toast, I knew something was wrong. Stopped by here after the Little Italy farmers market to get some work done. I loved the outdoor seating! So roomy (not too many outlets though) and perfect to get some wonderful vitamin D. Recommended by a friend. No soy milk but they had almond and coconut as alternatives. Tried the salted caramel latte with almond milk, so good! Line can get long but it moves fairly quickly. Love the outdoor sitting but it gets busy so other parties ended up sitting down at my table, which I don't really mind I guess. Was there working on my laptop so I had my headphones on anyway. I came here for the first time today as I recently started working in the area, and I definitely think I'll be visiting here often! I had been to a Lofty location in north county a few years back and remembered it being okay, but not my favorite as I don't drink too much coffee and it was very coffee-centric. Today, though, my whole opinion changed! The two girls at the coffee bar were so so sweet and helped me decide what to get and reassured me that the things I ordered were vegan. I ended up getting a London Fog with almond milk- which was actually the best london fog I've been able to find in SD- and the bread & spread with hummus and a side or plant based sausage. The bread they use is delicious and the sausage was really good too! This was the perfect lunch for me as I wasn't starving, but needed something to fill me up. I would recommend everything I got, it was all amazing! The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the price, the total ended up being about $15, but it is a cute cafe in Little Italy, so I kind of knew what I was getting into. All in all, if you're looking for somewhere cute to grab some cafe food and/or drinks, this is a great place to go and I will definitely be back! read more

This modern coffee shop is so close to the hotel we stayed at, we frequented here almost every morning to try their various coffee beverages. The espresso was incredibly strong yet smooth and an excellent indicator on what to expect. I love that they serve the espresso with sparkling water on the side as it should be done! Cute latte art as well for their other drinks. The Aztec mocha definitely has a fiery kick to it, memorable and unique drink. Ambience is amazing with outdoor seating, large tables indoors and bar stools for a casual vibe. People are friendly. They have a small menu with sandwiches and salads, and a few breakfast items which we did try. They ended up forgetting our sides and the poached egg was too well done. I've been here before and tried an Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk in the past and it was meh. I don't know if it's the espresso they use but it wasn't all that good. This time I ordered the same drink and couldn't tell it was a vanilla oat latte. I paid $6.00 for it and threw it out 5 mins later, I was pretty disappointed. The atmosphere comes across as pretentious to me personally, I don't know if it's the color scheme and how everything is organized but it's not very warm. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I love this place. I had been here before when I was staying at the Doubletree in March so I was pleasantly surprised to see it across the street from my hotel on my recent trip back to San Diego.
