Line is out the door 9:30 PM Saturday night
    Candice F.

This is our second time at this boba tea place during our most recent trip to the San Diego area. The last time we had a good experience but with a much smaller crowd as we probably came midweek and midday. Today we arrived after 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday night and the place was hat. The line went out the door and took 20 minutes to get through to the cashier. Because she was very friendly and patient to answer all my questions and gave us samples to try. Remember to get a stamp card and you get four extra stamps for writing a review about your experience and including the names of their staff names. Working tonight were Omar, Gabi, Wren, Kurimi, Bella and Alee. They all were working hard behind the counter to serve up delicious drinks for all their customers. We ended up getting our drinks within 3 minutes! Way to go team! We order the Peachy Princess, roasted oolong milk tea and icy mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice was very different thsm the usual but still good. The Peachy Princess and Oolong milk tea were all very creamy. Solid drinks.

I heard about Yun Tea House from a friend who visited SD last year, so I decided to give it a try while I was in town. My friends and I each ordered a different drink to try and share. - Dark Phoenix: this was our favorite in terms of tea flavor! The tea and milk was we balanced, but 50% was a bit on the sweet side for us. - Duck Sh*t: the oolong and gardenia flavors were too light :( after a little time passed, all we tasted was milk. - Emperor's Red Robe with boba: this was second best in terms of tea flavor, but by the second half, it also just tasted like milk. The boba was good though, not too sweet and perfectly chewy. The store is so aesthetic and pretty, really leaning into the yun/cloud theme. It was decently busy but the wait time wasn't bad at all. I wish that the tea names had Chinese translations because I couldn't tell what some of them were from their English names (still don't know what tea is in Duck Sh*t LOL). The price is reasonable for the drink size. Overall, it was pretty good but didn't wow me like I had expected.

Parking can be tough in this small plaza packed with food hotspots. Yun Tea is a cute spot with group seating and a clean restroom. The line setup is a little confusing, but ordering starts on the left side of the divider. Online order was not available at this time because they were pretty busy. Their teas are bold and flavorful, which is exactly my preference. I tried the Dark Phoenix Milk Tea and Emperor's Red Robe fresh tea, both at 25% sweetness. They were perfectly sweet with a distinct tea flavor. The boba and barley bursting boba were fresh and satisfying. I picked up extra drinks for the ride back, and the barley bursting boba was still good! Definitely one of my go-to spots in SD.

FLAVOR (5/5): The mango sticky rice texture is amazing. Actual sticky rice to a smooth mango that's not artificial tasting at all. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): This place is so aesthetically pleasing! The drink cups are like a worth of art and the design of the store is so zen. SERVICE (5/5): Quick service and friendly cashiers! Dylan, Elijah, Bella, Wendy and Alice made our interaction so easy! TAKEAWAYS: Parking here sucks so have patience. Store is pretty big! Lots of seating.

SO GOOD! Hands down one of the best boba places I've tried. They have the most unique tea leaves that go beyond regular "black" or "green" tea. This is the 2nd place that I've seen that carries duck sh*t oolong tea. And it did not disappoint! The boba was also sweet and chewy. Overall 10/10 drink and will be returning every time I go back to San Diego.

I've been to this spot a couple times and the tea is one of the best teas i've had in san diego! i do prefer the sweetness level to be 50% since they run on the sweeter end with their drinks. you can also taste test the drink flavors beforehand and those ones are also 50% sweetness. Snow Jasmine(Milky) - simple but solid choice Dark Phoenix - stronger tea side Peachy Princess - if you like a fruity kick Emperor's Red Robe - good milky but strong tea taste (my favorite) Duck Sh*t - on the sweeter side Service: Pretty efficient and helpful in choosing flavors each time Ambiance: Super busy and has loud music yet a lot of people pack the place to study and do work here. There will be some people just chilling too but a LOT of people come and do work here

My favorite boba place in SD! Whenever I have friends or family down in the area, I always take them here. My favorite is the emperor's red robe, 50% sweet. I usually get aiyu jelly with my drink but today I didn't see it on the menu! I was informed by the worker that they recently discontinued it because management wanted to be "different"? Like okay I get that but not offering any jelly options at all is crazy! How are you gonna offer popping boba before jellies?! Bring it back guys please! Anyway just a little complaint but I will still be coming here! I just won't get any toppings though.

Yun Tea House is an extremely popular tea shop in San Diego and the shop uses teapresso machines to prepare its drinks. The restaurant group (SD Backyard) that owns this tea shop also runs Steamy Piggy (Casual Chinese Fusion), Formoosa (A Taste of Taiwan), Flama Llama (Asian Latin Fusion), Bok Bok Dok (Seoul Spicy), Viet Nom (Modern Vietnamese Cuisine), and Oi Shiba (Ramen Shop - now closed). In a way SD Backyard is the San Diego version of Kei Concepts in Orange County. [Parking]: The shop is located in a plaza with other popular Asian restaurants so it can be pretty difficult to find an available parking spot during busy dinner hours. Street parking is not an option on Convoy St so this parking lot is the only option. [Atmosphere & wait]: Very modern decor with cloud-shaped lamps and a table with a running river. Our party waited close to 20 minutes on Saturday at 8 PM before finally being able to place an order. [Menu]: The cashier allowed customers to sample various drinks (all samples were 50% sweet). Personally I liked Dark Phoenix and Red Robe. In addition, they also sell perfumes based on tea aromas (Iron Phoenix, Snow Jasmine, Peach Princess, White Tiger - $25 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum) and customers can sample each perfumes while waiting in line. According to the menu, the top five drinks are Dark Phoenix, Duck Sh*t, Emperor's Red Robe, Monkey King, and Iron Goddess. *** Dark Phoenix (cultivated from Phoenix mountain in Guangdong, China. Phoenix oolong has been selected for its darker shade & stronger fruity aroma which leads to a fragrant milk tea - 50% sweetness - $6.55 + with boba $0.75): A refreshing drink with the right amount of sweetness. The boba was decent, but definitely not the best I have had. *** Given the lack of tea shops using teapresso machines like CHICHA San Chen in San Diego, this is currently one of the top tea shop options locals can find in this part of town. P.S. - Yun Tea House gives a physical stamp card for each purchase, which is something rare to see nowadays given that most other tea shops use digital rewards programs.

Gotta come back for the duck sh*t tea! Kurumi helped us again. She gave us some samples and made great recommendations to the sugar levels.

The fact that they let you try the milk tea flavors is amazing! I really enjoy the drinks especially Emperors Red Rob and matcha Made in Heaven. The service from Abbie, Bella, Julia, Eros and Lillian was great. They were efficient and friendly. Would come again!

My absolute go to boba shop whenever I'm in SD! I'm obsessed with their duck shit and the peach one. Always so busy for a reason. The lines do go fast and there's plenty of seating inside but on the weekends, tends to all fill up. I've also studied here before during the week and loved it.

All their drinks look the same but very much taste different

The boba here is so good, I'd say the best in San Diego. At this point t I have tried most of their flavors on the menu and I know my regular order. Christina who is at the front is so kind and helpful and fast getting orders out the door.leave a review (yes gotta show them it's recent) to get additional stamps on the card.

I stumbled across Yun Tea House with almost 5 stars and thousands of reviews and thought "how good can this place be?!" So i decided to go before flying home. The parking lot is small, cramped, and requires payment. When you walk in you'll be greeted by a long-ish line but it moves pretty quickly. The drink that caught my attention was the duck sh*t milk tea because well, the name. LOL i got this and my sisters got the snow jasmine milk tea and the dark phoenix milk tea. All of these were pretty good. My favorite part was that the tea flavor is strong and fragrant. They also sell perfume in the scent of some of their teas. Of course i bought one because who doesn't wanna smell like jasmine milk tea? Hahah I can definitely see how they're holding onto to their high ratings.

Does anyone know what they use for their milk? They said it's non-dairy but does anyone know if they use non-dairy creamer or some non-dairy milk?

It was our first time there and they were super helpful in assisting us on deciding which delicious drink to pick. I decided on the Lychee cube pearl fruit tea and my BFF decided on the Yuzu Emerald Fruit tea. I'm not a big boba fan but they have a homemade "boba" that is a little different than the original tapioca boba balls. Their "boba" is a clear squarish chewy boba that I actually really liked. My lychee tea was very refreshing and not artificial tasting. And such a cute little small boba shop. However, TP Tea discontinued the cube pearls and changed it to QQ jelly. I was ok with that, but all of a sudden they changed the topping AGAIN but this time to aloe vera, which tastes terrible with the drink. They used to let us switch out the topping, but I was told they are no longer allowed to do that. This doesn't make sense to me because the toppings are the same price and some people just don't like certain toppings. I really hope they change their policy back. But until then, I guess I won't be going back.

I stood there for thirty minutes and then decided to check the status of my drink especially since drinks after me were all completed. I asked and the guy handing out order gave me a "matter of fact" comment, "Yeah your order has been ready." Yeah well how in the world would I have known that if you didn't pin in my order as completed? I told him up front and pointed at the board, "I didn't know since the number is still under In Progress." He just turns to look at the board and goes "Oh." I took my drink and left. I think what upsets me over the attitude was that he saw me standing there for an absurd amount of time, walked past me once for something, and didn't bother asking like "Hey you've been standing here for a while, can I check your order for you?" It doesn't take a lot of effort to initiate good customer service, but blatant lack of customer service and the additional attitude is what leads to feedback reviews as such. Will unlikely be coming back. I liked the drinks at 3Cat but this was such a negative experience.
