We visited this cute place on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend during covid. When we visited the UP for Labor Day weekend we knew dining would be challenging. There were few outdoor options available, but the Log Cabin Grill did have a cute outdoor area. It was chilly, but a blanket and warm coats helped. The restaurant was fairly crowded and their were people crowded around the bar. The staff had masks on, but most of them didn't have their noses covered, including our waitress at times. Walking through the restaurant was a bit nerve racking and when we left we did not go through the establishment to leave. We did find that the staff seemed a bit annoyed that we wanted to sit outside. Our server was friendly and the food was good. We had some locals beers. I had a half serving of their creamy chicken pasta and it was still a generous portion. My husband enjoyed the wings.

Very disappointed in our visit here. This was our first time here. We started with the junk basket and let's just say it lives up to its name... JUNK! The chicken was ICE cold when it came to us. Didn't eat it. Onion rings, fries, and cheese curds were Walmart quality, not even restaurant quality. My boyfriend asked for his steak to be medium rare and it came out medium well.. if not more done than that. I ordered the chicken pasta, the pasta and sauce were good but the chicken was disgusting. Bland, tough to chew, and just overall not good. I asked for the appetizer to be taken off our bill, our waitress said she'd take it off and then ended up only taking half the price off, meaning she lied. If I truly wanted to be a Karen I would've asked for the steak to be taken off as well for being over cooked and my pasta for being mostly disgusting. Will not be coming back here.

We stopped here as my sister in law is from the area Ns she said the grasshopper was a must have. She was right, a delicious alcoholic minty milkshake. 5 star for sure! The place itself is super cute and rustic as the name would imply. Our server was a bit odd--we came for a drink and an app and we felt pushed to either order more food or leave (it was not busy). We ordered the mushroom appetizer which could have been good if they were cooked a bit more. I'd come back if I was in the area.

Food was good. View was great. Service was ok. Was shocked at the at of our meal to see this on the inside of our bill. Felt like people should know this before ordering or dining.

Every meal was perfection and I would recommend anyone driving between Escanaba and Gladstone stop in and try anything on the menu.

Our server was nice and they were busy, so I drove back to pick it up. When I got home for the second time, I discovered that the $26 takeout meal was incomplete. The container only had the garlic bread, and the side salad that came with the meal was missing. Since the restaurant is about 15 minutes away, I called and asked if they could simply credit me for the missing salad. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the manager immediately questioned whether the meal even included a side salad. It does. I ordered it, and it's part of the meal. He then told me the salad was $1.99 and that he could credit that amount in 8-10 business days. Since he didn't offer a salad voucher for the future I accepted. That did not sound right so I checked the menu after hanging up, where I found the salad actually costs $3.50. At that point, it wasn't about $1.50. It was about the way I was being treated. Rather than simply apologizing and making things right, I felt like the manager was being cheap and patronizing. Then I got irritated. So I decided to drive back to the restaurant again to pick up the missing salad. When I got there, the manager confronted me and said he had been "just about to process the credit", I told him he said $1.99 and that was not the price of the item, So I just came and got it. He then insisted he had told me he wasn't sure of the price. That isn't what happened. He confidently told me it was $1.99. It felt like he was trying to rewrite the conversation instead of taking responsibility. Oh his parting words were not I am sorry, it was "good thing I didn't process that credit!" Customer service 101 lesson, a good manager should know the menu, own mistakes, and focus on taking care of customers. We spent around $100 on dinner, and I wasn't looking for anything free just the item I'd already paid for or a fair credit. I expect better for the price. ($18.99 for chicken and fries.) The missing salad wasn't what prompted this review. It was the repeated attempts to avoid responsibility over a $3.50 side salad. He should have put me on hold. Looked and the menu and offered a customer focused solution. In the end, the restaurant likely lost customers over $1.50, not because of the money, but because of him. Mistakes happen everywhere. How they're handled is what people remember, and unfortunately, this experience left me feeling dismissed and irritated rather than valued.

Hot tip on getting in: send one person to check in at the front desk as early as you can in the morning to get your group added to the list because it's usually an hour to two hour wait for breakfast/brunch. While you're waiting, enjoy the Swedish delights in the gift shop, the enormous green lawn space and seating, walk around Sister Bay and of course admire the goats on the roof! Once you are in, enjoy the food, I'm never disappointed. Personally, I have to order the Swedish meatballs and Swedish pancakes combo every time to get a little bit of sweet and a little bit of savory and a full plate of delicious. I think it might be a little easier to get in for dinner and they have a great outdoor space for drinks, bites, and live music in the evenings! This is really a Sister Bay and Door County MUST stop. Once seated, we enjoyed the Swedish meatballs, Swedish pancakes (with traditional lingonberries or Door County cherries, and a delicious warm cinnamon coffee cake. All of the food was served quickly, was amazing and in just the right amounts. We love the classic look of the restaurant as well as the cool Swedish themed gift shop attached.
