We got together here with most of our grown kids and their families this year. There are sites ranging from basic tent sites up to spaces for very large RVs, as well as cabins that go from "4 walls" rustic to a few that are almost a hotel room with a full bathroom, shower, air conditioning, and kitchenette. There is a playground for the young kids, access to a nice field in the back, kayaking, picnic and fishing areas along the river. There's railroad tracks that run through the back of the campground and a train often goes through at night. It's close and very loud and impressive, and while it may bother some people we looked forward to it coming through. The cabins we visited were very clean and well maintained as were all the bathrooms and the showers. The little campground store seemed to have everything you are likely to forget when you leave home. The real highlight of this place is the owners, who are some of the nicest people you can come across. They are pleasant and welcoming and went to great lengths to make our visits enjoyable. If you're looking for a deep wilderness-like experience this is probably not the place for you, but it doesn't pretend to be that. It's a really nice family friendly spot to spend some time, with plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained.

There is also a very nice walking path that winds down along the river, which made the stay even better. It is a peaceful place, well kept, and easy to navigate. This campground is probably great for a self-contained camper that only needs hookups. People are…read morefriendly. Restooms are clean. Most sites are large, flat, and surrounded by trees. Restroom facilities are sparce. There are two restroom facilities and one of them has two shower stalls per gender for the entire campground. Tent sites are far from all facilities. I wonder why so many campgrounds, including this one, puts Class A, long-term campsites near the restrooms and leaves the rest of us, who need restrooms, to struggle with the long walk.

I was served a mini loaf of hot, standard recipe white bread with whipped "butter." My rant: There should be a law against restaurants calling margarine "butter". As nicely whipped and pretty as it presented, this "butter" was MARGARINE - the old fashioned, cheap kind. No "touch of cream" or buttermilk or half and half. It was terrible, as was the bread. The salad was leaf lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, and once I removed the abundant croutons, was decent. The baked potato was - well - a baked potato, which I chose not to ruin with MARGARINE. The broccoli was over cooked to the point of having some pieces that were scorched. The highlight of the plate were the 4 jumbo, beer battered shrimp. They were delicious; however, I wanted some tartar sauce to go with them. It took me 5 minutes of waving my arms to finally catch the eye of A busboy. He wanted to know who my waitress was. I couldn't tell him but the Hostess came and got the sauce for me. Evidently, the one waitress I saw working, also worked the bar and other eating area which is not in sight of the dining room. That seemed problematic to me. It is summer time. This is a recreational area. I assume that this Resort relies on tourists to keep going. It is Monday night. Perhaps that made the difference in service levels.
