a few years ago i used to come here every weekend. still enjoy coming when I can, but not a fan of the new improvements made since covid on the middle room. I miss their classic games like marble madness and tetris. now it's replaced with single booth video game systems so it's just less interactive. also every time I go some classics like Qbert and burger time are always under repair. love the addition of the fries and hotdogs tho so I bumped it from 3 stars to 4. pre covid this was a definite big 5 star. read more

Huge selection of pinball machines and a pretty damn good selection of old skool video games as well. Full bar up front and a cool, non-pretentious staff. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, especially because that's when they also have the world's happiest DJ spinning anything from 40's doo-wop to country/western to you name it. Fun! read more

Came here for a friend's birthday party because we were a bunch of nerds and you can bring your own food. The bar had a decent offering, but none of my favorites. They seem to have more pinball machines than video games, which was slightly disappointing, and some of them were out of order and all of them were sticky. Definitely sanitize your hands after playing. Also, you need to use your own quarters for the machines, which is fine since they have a coin machine at the front. I prefer that over having to buy tokens, but I do like a bar where the beer is a little pricier but the games are all free. The one thing this does, however, is prevent people from hogging one machine all night trying to beat some other nerd's high score. The staff was amazing, however. The door guy was paying attention and got us plates and napkins and forks for our unprepared selves so that we could eat our pizza and cake in style. For an arcade bar, however, with so many in town, I would probably go somewhere else. read more

What used to be a record shop with arcade games in the back has been converted into a Beercade... Record Shop moved down the street! They did a hell of a job here with the bar.. probably 15 local drafts on the line as well as a full bar. Arcade consists of probably 20 great pinball games as well as many video games; all are meticulously maintained! They have the old school Token Machines on the wall so it's pay to play unlike the other joints. A barcade that is nearby. The games run on quarters which is cool because I hate that whole token thing since you can't exchange it back. There were a lot of games I remember from my youth, Smash TV, Mortal Kombat, some that I remembered now that I saw them and played them (remember Sunset Riders? go here and you will) and some that were just, wtf? There was a weird spaceship game that seemed to be from Russia or something. On top of that they have a huge space just for pinball games. The only downside is there aren't any shooters, which is my favorite type of game. However, to make up for that they had a special on Sundays where all cans, except PBR are discounted. Definitely a fun place, but please put in Lethal Enforcers. read more

What a sweet place. Here you have mostly old school video games and a bunch of real pinball machines too. Made me feel like a teenager again, heading to the arcade with a huge pocket full of quarters. And all these games still take quarters! Not only that but the games are in great condition too. But the main difference between this arcade and the ones from my youth is the full bar. "So cool that when you judge it, wear a mitten." Eclectic collection from all eras. Vids are 25 cents a play, pinball in the front is as well. The more modern pinball in the back is 50 cents a game, but if you put $1.00 in a machine you can get three games. Killer Queen is a ton of fun but can be really busy. It's a social based game so you can usually just slide right in and play or just ask if you can get in on the next round. Folks usually oblige. On busier days, there is usually a server or two going around taking drink orders. If you wanna avoid a potential wait at the bar, mosey up to a table and start a tab with one of them. read more

Like all of the other reviewers thus far, I was a fan of my experience at Logan Arcade. Unlike everyone else, I would suggest a few adjustments as this is a newly-opened business. I had a great time with my friends. I mean... beer and games. What's not to love? That being said, I would say there should be some sort of coat hooks or something of that nature as there are few places to put your things, and people take up the few stools with their coats and bags. Stools and tables are hot commodities, and there aren't as many as you might hope, so go there expecting to stand most of the time. Also no chairs or stools for the video games. Also keep in mind there is no kitchen, so when planning your evening, eat before or after your visit elsewhere. read more

I went here for a birthday party for one of my best friends. The arcade was pretty legit. I loved that they had some old school games like mortal kombat along with some newer games that I didn't recognize. The games all require quarters to play, and the bartender was kind enough to break my 20, so that I didn't have to have $20 worth of quarters. There were two machines that changed cash to quarters and both were fully operational. Overall, had a great time playing games and celebrating on a Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend it! read more

Hands down the best barcade in the city. They have an amazing selection of pinball machines and they're well taken care of. They also have a good collection of non-pinball games, including a few newer games like Walking Dead, Jurassic park, and Killer Queen! Most of the classic arcade games are a quarter, pinball is usually 50 cents, and the newer games are a dollar. Totally worth it because they're always well maintained. They always have great beers on tap and bottled -- standard, fancy, or in between. Pretty decent specials and great events every so often too. There's no food here, but you're welcome to bring food in from the outside (there's usually a person selling tamales in the late evening too). Definitely a place to check out if you haven't already. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. This review is also way overdue since I've been going here off and on for 3 years or so. Born in the early 70s I spent my youth during the 80s, and one of my favorite past times was to spend the little money I had at the arcade. These were the highlights of my days ;-) Ah, to be young again and spend time and money at the arcade... But wait! I still can --sans the "to be young again" piece! And I can drink beer in there! This place is geek heaven. It has old-school coin arcade games from the 80s. They do a pretty decent job on rotating these games, bringing in "new" ones and phasing out older ones. The ones that are constantly played are the Street Fighter, the Mortal Kombat, the Killer Queen. And then, there are the classic Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Tron, pinball machines, etc. Grab a beer or a cocktail, play some games, wait for the tamale guy with his red cooler or order delivery pizza, spend some quarters and play classic arcade games. Man, this is what I call having a great time. In fact... I did spend a birthday there with some friends. When asked what I wanted to do, I said I wanted to spend the night playing games, drinking, chatting, eating tamale. Place is generally clean, personnel is attentive, machines work most of the time, decent beer selection, you can order outside food and eat it in there --or wait for the tamale guy ;-) Go here. A-Okay - nothing special. I was actually kinda disappointed in Logan Arcade, to tell the truth. If there were no other 'Barcades' in the city it would be different, but when you have competition, you gotta step up your game! I do admit, they have a lot of pinball! Where else are you going to find Centaur (HALF MAN, HALF MOTORCYCLE!)? But the frat guys camping the Metallica table all night really stuck in my craw - "Hey, can I play that game you're standing in front of?" "No, we're waiting for someone." Seriously? Jerks. The games are not free, which is a hit against them when other Barcades provide a quarter-free experience. I also had to ask for my quarters back several times from hungry coin-munching machines, and the bartender showed clear annoyance at my request. The console games are okay, but not the best selection. I'd definitely go to Headquarters over them for hot, hot joystick action. Still, definitely worth checking out at least once, if you're a pinball fan. Just don't expect to get to play Metallica. read more

Even if your not a pro gamer, you can appreciate the environment as well as the drinks. I went on a Tuesday and they just so happened to have an amateur pinball competition. It was great!! Another entrant in the surprisingly rich "bar and arcade games" genre, which is honestly a great genre. Since this is only the second such place I've been, it's easiest to compare it directly to Headquarters in River North: Headquarters's advantages are that it has two better games (classic Galaga and Police Trainer) and the games are all free. But Logan Arcade has the extremely addictive classics Joust and Tempest, and all of the games are much better maintained -- the joysticks and buttons have much better tension, making the games more playable for a serious button-presser. (Maybe this is BECAUSE the games aren't free. As Robert Heinlein said, TANSTAAFL.) It's more of a dive, too. All told, I'd rather be here. read more

I seriously love this place. This is my kind of hangout spot and they have all the right games! They have NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Michael Jackson Moonwalker, etc. They were all in great condition! They also have a lot of newer games, which cost a little more, like the Walking Dead game. This place is more low key and chill than Emporium. I like this place better because it's so chill! Their drink menu is quite diverse, I had the green flash which is the passion fruit beer, I totally recommend this drink if you like sweet and passion fruit! :) The bartender was also super nice and attentive. This is also a great place to take a date if you are looking for more hands on activities where you can get a little competitive and playful! Plenty of street parking nearby. Also there's no huge sign that says "Logan Arcade," look for the sign that says "Logan Hardware." read more

I LOVE all of the games here, but their staff SERIOUSLY needs to step up their service. I sat there patiently waiting whilst several girls who sauntered up to the bar after me were served before me. Not nice. This happened every time I was served. Also, I order nice scotch/whiskey and neat. I was charged extra (like $3) for it being neat. This would be fine and all if I was given a pour that warranted this, but that was NOT the case. Additionally....when someone orders a nice scotch, you can be pretty sure they're not ordering it with Coke or the likes (how dare they!?), so the price on the menu should reflect the price of the scotch. Additionally, I ordered plain soda water which I was also charged like $3 for. I've never paid for plain soda water at a bar having also ordered an alcoholic beverage at the same go. Seriously, you're going to charge me EXTRA for a scotch that you DIDN'T put soda in, and in the same order charge me for soda? C'mon.... read more

I've been to most of the other barcades in Chicago and this is by far my favorite. It's less crowded than Emporium or Headquarters, which means you can usually play the games you want to and/or get a seat, if you get tired after an epic Mortal Kombat duel. The games are awesome, with classics like Mrs. Pacman, Galaga, Qbert, NBA Jams, Donkey Kong and many more. As far as I can tell, they do not have Streetfighter, which may enrage some of you. They do have a new game called Killer Queen and as people have mentioned here, it's a 10 player game that seems pretty amazing - we didn't have a large enough group to get into the action. Also, the beers and games are cheap! They had canned tallboys of PBR for $3.50 and the games run on the original arcade quarter pricing, so if you're on a budget, you could easily spend less than $20 bucks here and still have a hell of a time. I got about $12 bucks in quarters and played everything I wanted for hours, which is a pretty great deal for some rocking '80s style entertainment! This is more of a friends night out spot than a pick-up place, so if you're looking for flirtation, this is probably not the venue. Everyone is either playing games with buddies or too busy revisiting a 20 year old vendetta against a video game nemesis (I will beat you, Frogger! I will!) to worry about the opposite sex. Great spot for a date night or even an evening out alone, to drink cold cans of beer and make love to a shiny pinball machine, just like the old days. read more

Admittedly I'm not an expert on arcade bars, but I'm certainly a fan of this place. The old Logan Hardware space has been expanded even more, with an extra back room that has high ceilings, great light, and tons of pinball. The middle room is a lot like it was before this place was a bar -- dark, packed with old video games, and a little noisy due to lots of sounds that should bring anyone back to the early '80s, even if they weren't alive at the time. The bar itself, located in the front room, has a good mix of beers on tap and in bottle, with price points that anyone can afford. Contrary to a previous review, there are several excellent beers on tap for $5 a pint, and the rest of the prices range from $2 for a bottle of Shiner on up to (I think) $7 for one or two specialty beers. There are plenty of alcoholic, non-beer, options too, so I doubt anyone's going to go thirsty. Even better, they carry some cool, somewhat obscure soft drinks like Cheerwine, which is a nice touch. Since Logan Arcade just opened this Monday (2/17) it's hard to tell what it'll be like on a weekend night, and impossible to say what the place will really develop into once it's been around for a few weeks or months. I do know that machines will be transitioned in and out, so it looks as if nobody should get bored any time soon. Logan Arcade is definitely a welcome addition to the area and a comfortable place to get a drink whether you want to play the games or not. read more

This is by far the best of Chicago's arcade-bars. Every time I have gone to either Headquarters location I have felt claustrophobic/bordering on panic. And the music is way too loud. (Yes, I realize how old this makes me sound.) Not so here. The place itself is more spacious, and they seem to have better control over the amount of people they let in. You can move around freely, hear people talk, and you never have to wait long for a game. Yes, you have to pay quarters for most of the games, but it still ends up being a pretty cheap night out, especially for how entertaining it is! Also, this kind of bar is basically an introvert's paradise. You can socialize, then retreat into a game for a while. Or you can become addicted to playing Centipede and have your worried boyfriend find you 30 minutes later. You know, whatever works. read more

I simply love Logan Arcade. Booze and classic arcade games? yes, please. They have a good amount of games for you to lose massive chunks of time playing and I really like that they have a whole back area dedicated to pinball machines. The front room has the bar with a decent amount of tables for you to sit down at if you need a break from gaming. I am one of those people who pay way too much attention to the lighting of an establishment and I was really pleased with their setup here. Not to mention they have so much awesome arcade related wall decor for you to look at. The middle room is where they have most of their arcade games that wrap around the entire room. I have been going to Logan Hardware and records for years ever since they opened and I always loved their little arcade they had in the back that let you play for free if you bought anything. Since they moved the record shop down the street this store front was empty but they made it into a full service bar with an arcade and its awesome. They have a great selection of video games and even though most are a quarter to play they do have a lot of games you can play for free including some pinball machines. A friend of mine and I visited on a saturday afternoon and the bar still had a good number of people but there is a lot of space there. We mostly played the Xmen game because for 50 cents you get 25 lives each which means you can pretty much beat the game on just 50 cents. Not only that they have cheap beer to boot. We were drinking 2 buck shiner premiums but they also have better options off the tap. This beats out the other two arcade bars in the city as they are more pricey. read more

Had a great first experience here, this past weekend. Only thing I was minorly disappointed about(if they're gonna go the Emporium route for charging on the games you play, and not do free play like Headquarters, Galloping Ghost, etc. I tend to prefer the latter EVEN if it means higher cocktail/beer prices, but that's just me...), was that almost all pinball games in the back room were 50 cents, and that it looked like 1-2 games even were 75 cents in the back room. It'd be much better IMO, if every game was 25 cents(and perhaps having the max cost for any game be 50 cents), like Emporium(erm, 1 token for majority of games, but same difference). That's just me. I wanted to try Killer Queen(described by an employee there as a Joust clone created by the same person behind Joust, but updated w/better graphics), but the game went down and stopped working that night not long after I arrived. Next time though. I can see the opposite view of things and why some might prefer this way/Emporium's/etc. way of charging for games(via not doing free play and charging slightly less for drinks), though. Hopefully Killer Queen is only 50 cents at most, when I finally do get a chance to play it on next visit. read more
