Pu'u Kahea Conference Center - Plantation hale

    Pu'u Kahea Conference Center

I've been here twice as a chaperone for our sons' school orchestra camp in 2013 and 2016…read more Pros: Great food, all cabins are air-conditioned, clean, nice décor, well-maintained grounds, friendly staff, secure/gated with care taker living on property near the main gate, and adequate hot water for each cabin. Camp grounds included a large outdoor commercial-grade tent that the orchestra used for large-group practice. Their next door neighbor is the Kamehameha Schools' Preschool and another part of the Pu'u Kahea center is bordered by a canal: bottom line: safe and secure. There are also newer residential homes along the street where the entrance is located. There's an old "mansion" on the property where Disney filmed the movie Parent Trap in 1998. We used the mansion for some of the chaperones and student officers, and it's really nice. The mansion also includes the dining area and a third floor loft. This facility is affiliated with the Baptist church, however, it's open to anyone. This place would be ideal for church groups or adult groups that need to break out into separate meeting groups. And yes, kids' orchestra/band camps too. Also, our church (Catholic) conducted their teen group's confirmation retreat here as well, with great results. The outdoor facilities include a bonfire area, basketball and volleyball courts. Cons: Minor: their ice machine broke on one of the weekends that we were there, so the parents drove to Kapolei Costco to buy ice. We also heard that our school's band camp the week before also experienced the broken ice machine, therefore the broken ice machine had been unaddressed for at least 2 weeks. There's no pool. the front lawn area is uneven, ungraded, sloped and has trees in a grove, so if you want to do football or soccer, it would be difficult. There are other open areas on the property that might suffice if you need a large open outdoor area. however, because our group spent most of the time indoors and in the grove area, I can't really evaluate the features of the other outdoor spaces.

I strongly recommend that people think twice before doing business with Kapila Gardens. Our…read moreexperience was extremely disappointing and, frankly, disrespectful. We arrived early in the morning, not realizing that the venue didn't open until 10am. Because it had been raining, the grass was wet, and when we drove in, it created some muddy tracks. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner immediately became hostile. We were met with insults about our intelligence and were spoken to with profanity. Rather than calmly explaining the situation or asking us to leave respectfully, we were told to "get the fuck out" of the property and asked, "who the tf do you think you are?" The entire interaction felt aggressive and completely uncalled for. Everyone makes simple mistakes, especially when information like opening hours isn't clearly known beforehand. But there's no excuse for treating potential clients with that level of disrespect. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this venue to anyone looking for a professional, welcoming place to host an important event like a wedding.

I'm a new member of Ailani Garden's CSA. So far, I am impressed with the amount of produce for the…read moremoney and the quality as well. We pick up our bag from the Kapolei location which is really convenient for us considering we live in Ewa Beach. Rasika even brought a box of mangoes and offered us as many as we could eat (and we LOVE mangoes!) The bag included the mangoes, a bag of salad greens (probably 6 servings or so), a small amount of dill, a bunch of kale, some very potent YUMMY smelling flowers (but I'm not sure if they're edible?), a bunch of moringa and a few small carrots. The produce was all very fresh and tastes amazing. My only small complaint is that they don't give you a card with your bag's contents and their website just has a generic greens list with pictures. Luckily I was able to figure out the moringa thanks to their website, but I'm still not sure about the flowers so they may go to waste. I highly recommend this CSA. It's less expensive than the others on the island and the organic produce is hard to beat. FYI - they also have a Kailua pickup available.

The tour was incredible, the scenery was absolutely stunning, and Jeremy may be the best tour guide I've ever had. He was hilarious, informative, kept everyone engaged, and even went out of his way to take great photos of everyone throughout the tour. If you're doing this tour, ask for Jeremy. He's the man! Highly recommend.

Kualoa Ranch is a staple in Oahu and attracts so many visitors every day. The amount of different…read moretours the ranch has to offer is amazing. My brother was visiting from Florida and loves Jurassic Park so I had thought it would be fitting to take him in the Jurassic Adventure Tour. We chose the bus option instead of UTVs because we wanted to relax and enjoy the sights but there is a UTV tour option as well. We were able to see a lot of the different movie sights and our guide was great at explaining and walking us through the history of the ranch and all the different movies and shows that have filmed there. Our guide even got it to the episode or scene for each show or movie, which was really cool. Once your tour is over there's still so much to do and see if you have time. There's a small farmers market store towards the front of the ranch as well as a visitors center that has a souvenir store as well. I can't wait to go back to do another tour and keep learning about the ranch and area.

I wanted to make this review cause the photos posted on here does zero justice to how beautiful this place really is! The bathrooms and hot shower houses were clean and it felt really good to have it available! The place is also secured. There were staff on site in case we had questions, Tara was very helpful in answering all my questions! We camped at oama left and we had oama right neighbors. It wasn't that bad of a distraction at all, there was a lot of space available for both of us. For this campsite you have to pay for a minimum of 12 campers, but it wasn't too bad considering it's a big space for tents and tables. 2 picnic tables were already provided so that was good! The hot showers were a great touch, after a long day. The beach was walking distance, we overnight fished and had a great time. Some of the rules: there are activities but they are available for ala cart purchase, there is a pool there but you have to rent a lifeguard, you can't have day visitors come by, you're given wristbands for the stay. There are also assigned parking stalls per camp site, we had 3 for ours. Will definitely be booking this place in the future! It's a really nice getaway...

There are bathrooms and hot showers and we always have a great time. The swimming in the area is not the best. Lots of reef in the shoreline but you can walk a little ways down and have better swimming spots. The only downside to the location is the parking lot is far so lugging your things gets exhausting. There is an entrance closer on the other side but we are not allowed to use it. Bathrooms are also extremely far and is a nightmare for your early morning or late night bathroom needs. Every time we've been there, parking was a mess. You're assigned a parking spot for your site but no one follows the rules. Also not enough parking. Our site allows 4 stalls but has a 10 person max. We are 5 couples, total 10 people which means 5 cars. All things aside, we love this location and will definitely be back but I would love to see improvements with a second bathroom on the other side as well as parking or drive in options for offloading and unloading.
