Pretty bummed by this place. Made a reservation here for my birthday, which I specifically called out on the reservation. 6pm on a Saturday and the place was dead, just us and another couple and a small family. Music seemed to be the general hip hop station on pandora - some classic tracks but it felt weird when Purple Pills came on with kids there. We ordered the soup, a beet salad, two pastas, and a pizza - most excited to try the pizza. The starters and pastas were totally fine - nothing special. Pizza never came, and then apropos of nothing they brought the check. Some of the weirdest service I've ever experienced. Every time a server came in the room, they looked at our table full of empty glasses and plates, then left. I saw what I thought was the pizza maker tossing dough for our pie, but he was just practicing with a towel. We were going to have another drink and try their dessert but got the distinct impression they wanted us to leave, so we left. I know many spots are struggling and operating with a skeleton crew these days, and I'm patient and understanding if things are slow or things get missed. But if anything this place seemed overstaffed - tons of people in matching sweatshirts moving around, doing who knows what. Not sure what's up but we probably won't be back - from other reviews it doesn't sound like we missed much with the forgotten pizza, either. read more

I came with a group. We were given a table in a back room. I thought we were going to be in for a treat. They people seating us were very nice and the wait staff were very nice. But the kitchen is disorganized and the food was extremely bland. The Al dente pasta was tough and tasteless and seemed like it was from box. The tomato sauce was tasteless as if it consisted of heated tomatoes without any seasoning. each entree for each person came out 10 minutes apart. we each watch each other eat their entree as we waited for the next. Very disappointed at this place. We ordered to take out 2 pizzas, one pasta and a salad. The pizzas were charred, like cardboard, and heavily salted. Yes they were also very small but that wouldn't matter as much if they tasted better. The toppings in one of them was burnt and the margarita had almost no cheese. The pasta was bland and honestly the kale salad was very dry and had no flavor. It cost above $60 dollars. Excellent vibes all around, feels like a bit of Brooklyn up along the Hudson! It was fun to watch the pizzas get fired in the oven (the pepperoni &hot honey is a winner, baby) and even better to eat them with great drinks (spritz season is alive & well). The garlicky & cheesy kale Caesar was a perfect complement and the affogato may have been one of the best I have ever had--excellent espresso and dreamy, creamy soft-serve. Second time here, won't be back. Had a seat at one of the seven tables in the restaurant and no one came to greet me. Had to walk to the hostess and ask for a menu and server. Order a glass of wine, meatball app and pizza. Pizza arrived five minutes later and the meatball app in another five. Finished glass of wine and watched the server walk by me 5 times before I had to ask for another glass. Never asked how the food was and had to ask for the check. This is a really snobby place - the hostess is NOT friendly. We arrived at 7pm on a Sunday Nov 6th and the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. No, I said and asked if we could sit at a table under a heat lamp outside. She said no it's reserved, and gave me a sour look. She sat us a a small table near the door, no heat lamps, and then no one ever sat at the table we'd asked for, the "reserved" table. Why? Why did she need to feel more and to exert her power because we hadn't made a reservation? It's a pizza place! It should be open and accommodating and relaxed and fun. We were greeted by the hostess, who said there would be a five minute wait for the table. We were then seated and told that a waiter would be over, and he was. He told us--rather hurriedly and distractedly--that, of the five pizzas on their menu, they were "out" of four of them, as well as being out of their daily special, the meatballs. This was very confusing to us for a number of reasons: 1) why didn't the hostess mention this to us before we waited? 2) how is a pizza restaurant "out" of four, but not all of its pizzas? Are they out of the ingredients, or--worse--are the pizzas made ahead of time? Either one is embarrassing for a *pizza* restaurant at 8:15 on a Saturday night. Sorry. The menu is small and, beyond the pizzas, not particularly inspired--a number of serviceable looking pastas at higher-than-you'd-like prices, especially if they are out of what they claim to be best at, pizza. We decided not to order and walked down the street to the Front Street Tavern, which didn't blow us away, but hey, they still had their menu intact. read more

After reading good reviews, was anxious to give Lola a try. The service was great, the overly loud music was not. Unfortunately , the food fell far below expectations. We tried two different pizzas and both were way too salty. The mushroom pizza was drowned in crisped capers. I love capers, but in such a large dose, they obliterated the taste of the mushrooms and kept me feeling parched through the night and into the next morning. Capers that are rinsed and squeezed dry still impart excellent flavor without the huge salt load. The anchovy pizza was better, but still lacked a mix of distinctive flavors suggested by the ingredients on the menu. I will give Lola the benefit of the doubt and visit once more, ordering something different. If I am not more impressed by the food, it' a wrap. read more

Honestly this place was AMAZING!!! Was visiting Kingston for the weekend and came for an early dinner and the pizza was beyond amazing. We had the Stracciatella, and a margherita and tiger paw pizza.
