We came in to have a 'freshly made' sausage pizza. Instead the ethnic 'cook' pulled an old pie from the rack at the counter and heated it up passing it off as fresh. Essentially overheating it to where the crust was tough and burnt in spots. When you know how to cook, and you've eaten plenty of pies you know the difference. Truly a real disappointment since that pizza parlor was our favorite also we know the family. It really was not worth the $22.00 we paid. Nor will we be going back. read more

Great Italian place. We meant to go for sushi next door but had no reservation there so we checked this place in our group of 7. Great carbonara pasta, linguine garlic oil, philly steak, chicken wings, garlic knots, chicken Marsala, pepperoni pizza! It came with a ton of sides. The garlic knots and bread were amazing. Salads were very fresh with a right mix. Nice great family style dining with large booth type tables. Free soda refills. It's a casual dining place but we left a nice tip anyway. read more

Get home and give my son his salad and he opens the container and it has dried brown stains inside the container. The two substitute slices I ordered where so hard the snapped when you bent them. They were also as dry as can be. So I got a messed up order, salad with stains in the container and 6 day old pizza slices. Sorry but I'm done. Been a loyal customer for 10+ years. I get it - pandemic...we all have to make sacrifices and I'm good with that but yesterday I was charged $9.30 for a grandma slice, a slice of pepperoni and a side of ranch. I could have bought a small pie for that! And now apparently slices come in a paper bag and not a box....so if you want to add toppings you have to take the slices out of the bag, put them on the table where god only knows how many people have been and then get them back in the bag without dropping anything. Not to mention that the cheese wasn't even melted on the grandma's and I had to re-heat everything when I got to the office which is literally 4 minutes away. Well our usual places for pizza were closed on Sunday night so we decided to try out their pizza. Unfortunately we did not care for it. The bottom crust was soggy and floppy with no substance. The onions were large chunks that were hardly cooked and the double pepperoni did not seem like double at all. I have been to this location quite a few times, as well as their other locations. Usually the experience is much better. The first red flag was the young woman who answered the phone had a hard time hearing me, so she was huffing and puffing loud enough over the phone for me to hear. The next red flag was the delivery driver went above and beyond to tell me what the young woman put on the delivery ticket for my location was wrong and how my location was " not on route 28" like the young lady had written. I DID NOT TAKE THE ORDER, having him talk to me like that got under my skin. If she couldn't hear me, she could have asked again my location and I would have corrected her. The driver then went out of his way again, to tell me that " I could have ordered from the Morton BLVD location" ....SO....."he didn't have to come all the way out here" What a shame Savonas. I used to celebrate every holiday and mile stone in your restaurant on the strand... and when looking for pizza I would always pop in and get a slice. Im afraid I wont be going again. read more

Savona's Plaza Pizza is always the first thing I eat when I walk through the door at the D. family house and my oh my how delicious it is --especially after a long drive from a city where a good slice is harder to find than a winning sports team. A Kingstonian institution at this point, Savona's is much more than just pizza; the dinners are delicious (eggplant parm and penne ala vodka) and you'd better watch your hands if there are garlic knots around. Savona's is tubing. They usually have great pizza, but lately it has stunk. As always, even though we're less than 10 mins from Morton Blvd and it's always 45 mins to an hour plus for delivery. We stopped in for lunch-- just happened to be in the area. I had a margarita pizza with added mushrooms, sausage, and spinach which was (to quote the "star" ratings) about as good as it gets. All ingredients had the right balance, and everything, including the sauteed(!) mushrooms, was fresh. The sausage, nicely fennel-flavored, tasted home-made-- but i can't confirm. Great thin, slightly-charred crust, and it seemed kind of bigger than the advertized 11 inches. I told the (very friendly) owner that i wished i could get a pie like this in Greenwich, and if i did, it wouldn't be as good and would cost twice as much. My colleague had a salmon salad, which i can't vouch for, but she said it was excellent, and the whole thing disappeared before i could get a fork in. The service was friendly without being obtrusive, and the timing was perfect. Almost forgot: the comp "bread" was excellent, hot garlic rolls. Crispy crust with just the right amount of buttery garlic. You would think that getting a tasty meal in friendly surroundings, priced just about right, would be the norm for restaurants. I have been a loyal delivery customer, ordering about once a month for many years. In the last 6 months I have ordered pizza about 5 times and each time it has taken an hour or more to go less than 5 miles. Today the person who took the delivery order said they won't deliver for under a minimum order of $15. I had a coupon for $11.99 one topping pizza. There has never been a minimum order before. When the delivery person showed up, an hour later, he quoted a price more than $2 than the actual price on the ticket. The pizza was luke warm when it did arrive. I am very unhappy with the whole experience. There are more pizza places in the area and they will be getting my business from now on. read more

Pizza was horrible and the wings I ordered mild were definitely hot. I came in and ordered my food and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I came back well over 20 minutes later and they didn't have the wings made yet and they gave me a small pizza when I ordered a large. Went there for their lunch specials, great variety including vegetarian choices. Had a gourmet slice that could have been a little bigger for a single slice, but very tasty. The eggplant, mozzarella, red pepper wrap had a balsamic reduction that combined the flavor nicely. The pasta dish with garlic, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, olives was a little oil heavy but we dipped our delicious garlic knots in it so it worked out well. Just a little note to the owner maybe some bathroom TLC it needs some heavy duty cleaning, especially the floor molding "Yuk" Please inspect it. We went to the Savonna's in the Kingston plaza, used to be the best pizza but lately it depends on who's making it.We went for a large pizza and no one else was there ,it was a Sunday night.It took 50 minutes to get our pizza -way too long and they weren't busy so really no excuse. In the past we have gone to the one on Morton blvd but they are almost as slow , 45 minutes for a plain pizza on more than one occasion . I may or may not go back again ,depends on how bad I want a possibly good pizza (or not so good meh kind )and don't mind waiting almost an hour to get it. read more

I've been eating Savona's Plaza Pizza my whole life and usually never have any major problems. Tonight, Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I decided to order a pizza from Savona's, again, where we have ordered from several times before. To start, the prices on the online website are wrong. There is a big difference between $13 and $18 dollars. I called and ordered, was told it would be 30 minutes. My boyfriend went out to pick up the pizza and the experience went down hill from there. Upon walking in, a father with four young children also walked in. My boyfriend overheard the waitress complain to the cashier (Kayla was the name) about this family saying "Are you kidding me?" My boyfriend continued to wait at the counter for nearly five minutes before the other waitress finally said "Do you need something?" in a very rude and snarky tone. She got our pizza for him and told him the price of $18 and again, rudely explained that the prices on the website were wrong. My boyfriend brought home our pizza and it was not only cold, but it was also poorly sliced with the toppings all over the place. This was the worst customer service he has ever experienced. I'm giving it a two star rating because although this was a horrible experience, in the past, it has been very good. read more

The four of us walked in the restaurant for the first time where we were not greeted at all. We went on the left side of the restaurant because we were interested in trying the salad bowls. Again, no one approached us. We found the sheets to pick your salad fixings and only one pencil available. We started filling out our sheets when finally someone came over and took our order. It's a shame because the place is very nicely renovated and they have the potential for a great product but the staff is very young and totally clueless as to how to wait tables. We also ordered a pizza and it was very good but the advertised price was $13 and when the check came it was $18.50. After being told the menus were old, we stated that wasn't our fault and reluctantly they took $5 off the bill. We took the other 50 cents off the tip. I see another reviewer had the same problem over a year ago and they still haven't updated their menus. After this poor experience I still was willing to give the salad another try and went there again today bringing another new customer to try it out. Again, we were treated like an inconvenience to the girl making salads. She came to the table and instead of saying, "Hi Ladies, I see you are both ordering salads, may I get you a beverage?" No, we just were asked abruptly if it was for here or to go? We handed in our salad slips and waited. Our salads arrived again with missing ingredients. The waitress just looked at us and asked if we would like silverware? Really? I felt like saying no, I'd like to graze on my salad like a cow. Still she never asked if we'd like anything to drink. Finally we had to ask for our beverage. My friend and I organize a monthly group of ladies luncheon and thought the girls would like this great deal on a salad. We both agreed that this was not the place for our group. We said we wouldn't subject these ladies to this kind of poor service. To the owner I'd like to say, you have a great opportunity to have a perfectly wonderful establishment but for heavens sake get yourself some decent adult wait staff or you might as well close your doors. read more

Solid place to order pizza from, even on a Friday night you know that you're going to get your food pretty quickly and it is usually still hot.
