Fortunately for us, who love all things sweet and tasty, that is their only shortcoming. The presentation is lovely and I often find myself salivating while eagerly waiting to pick my cupcake and make my dash back to my desk to devour the sinful delight. The frosting and sponge are equally delicious; I have had many a cupcake where the one or the other is out of balance. But with Sweet Couture every bite is a delight! My only bone of contention is that they never seem to have the mini cupcakes! I think it is dishonest to advertise but only offer the treats by the box and rarely individually. I love cupcakes, my waistline does not. Sometimes I don't want a full sugar filled confection, just a taste. So please Sweet Couture either stop advertising that you have mini-cupcakes or make them regularly available for individual purchase. Personally I'd prefer the latter because then I could eat a mini cupcake everyday with no feelings of guilty rather than a big cupcake every once in a while.

So far I've only stopped twice and managed to try out their cupcakes and bought a medium chocolate cake for a birthday. The cupcakes are light and airy, and there is a wide variety of flavours (my personal favourite is peanut butter...!). The chocolate cake was just right - not too rich and just enough chocolate. Given the prices, it's definitely a treat, but that's OK since I'm not sure I want cake more often than occasionally anyway.

Can't say I am all that impressed though. Red Velvet Cupcake - The frosting is so sweet and the Cake a little on the dry side. I like my Cakes to be moist. They're pricey too at £2.65 a pop. I thought paying the equivalent of £1.90 - £2.20 a Cupcake was a lot in California but I can't say I didn't expect it here in Britain as everything is more expensive. I do like the location of the Bakery, right near where my Hubby used to work and less than a mile from our beloved Thai Van (best Yellow Chicken Curry in The City btw!). Aside from the regular sized Cupcakes they also sell mini Cupcakes (£1.35) Brownies (£2.50-$3.75) and Whoopie Pies (£3.25) as well as whole Cakes from Sponge (£22 upwards) to Cheesecake (£26) and Pies (Pumpkin, Pecan, Mississippi Mud (£32-£36) ect. *There are also 3 other locations around London with the newest being in Islington in the Angel Building as well as a Food Truck (look at me becoming all ''American'').. or Van I guess I should be calling it that serves local Festivals.

Kinda on the dry side so hoping the regular versions are much better. Wished there was more strawberry flavor in the strawberries and cream cupcake but omg the cream cheese icing on the red velvet cupcake is delish (nice subtle tang and not overly sweet)! As for the New York cookies, I wouldn't say they're really Levain-like, but standing on their own they're still good cookies! Missing the crispy exterior but the interior is nicely soft and slightly gooey. I specifically tried the choc chip cookie (standard taste) and the cookies & cream cookie (I really enjoyed this one! Fan of the trickles of white chocolate ganache). Service was a bit cold. The lady who assisted me was no-smiles and there was conveyor-like communication from her. What I will give props to (and I wished more bakeries did this) is that she asked if I had any food allergies before confirming my order.

I was immediately struck by the bold floral and pink decor from the outside. They have an all day menu as well as an afternoon tea. If you want any of afternoon teas you have to make a reservation in advance. Other than you can do a walk up. We went during the week but I can imagine you might have to wait during extra busy times. I loved how it was located on a quiet side street away from the bustle of the main roads. It added to the ambience and felt like you were in a neighborhood cafe. They also have a take away counter of the cakes and cupcakes inside as well. Something to note if you are sitting in the front part you will have people coming in and out. There's seating both inside and outside. We were seated inside and ordered from the all day menu. I did start with a pot of Vanilla Rooibos. This was right up my alley with flavor blend and not too caffeinated. I also ordered the eggs Benedict and the slice of the Carrot and Hazelnut Lemon Loaf. The standout was the Loaf cake. It wasn't overally sweet and I love a carrot cake. The lemon icing was just sweet enough to add to the cake part. It was reasonably priced and fairly fast to get a seat and order. Everyone was so friendly and it was so relaxing to enjoy on our busy day. If I'm in town again, I will come back!
